Good news for the Bitcoin enthusiasts in Thailand and to the whole crypto community. It might give people the financial freedom in that country. Asian countries are looking forward to see potential in Bitcoin investments. I hope that one day adoption and usage of Bitcoin would be like that of Japan whereas they use it locally in department stores and any services. And you are right about the great opportunity and advantage of Bitcoin in tourism because I think it is more convenient in doing transactions with Bitcoins than fiat money when we are on a tour. The only downside of Bitcoin usage is the high transaction fee and the sudden change of price especially when it drops. That is why Bitcoin is perfect for investments purposes only.

Really? That's amazing. Is access to the internet not an issue here? I thought a lot of people in Thailand did not have access to devices with internet. And who pays the transaction fees? The store, the customer or is it a split? If it's on the store's side then they get a smaller cut for each item bought by bitcoin. So they would have to increase all their prices to account for the expected amount of transaction fees. In a way this would make the people who pays with Baht subsidize those who pay with bitcoin.

Philippines is already leading the way in the South East Asian region. But I agree that with Thailand joining the picture it will be another boost specially that they have a lot of tourist spots and accepting bitcoin will be a major push for their country financially.

Thailand, along with Malaysia, Ohilippines, Singapore and Indonesia, (Vietnam coming close behind) have actually been pretty adaptable with digital currencies, and Bitcoin is no different. Thailand still has a very small share of the trading volume on Localbitcoins, but they and their neighbours have been seeing incredible growth in volume since the end of 2016.

Infrastructure-wise, there's quite a lot to support the growth in urban cities, the only downside is that a lot of Bitcoin use is perceived by local forum users to be related HYIP and other less-than-acceptable activities - though I say this from a Malaysian, rather than Thai perspective (can't read Thai!). Correct me if i'm wrong but i think the adoption of bitcoin to pay for something, let's say your plane ticket or hotel room, doesn't actually make that much of an impact in the economy of a country, or at least not in the short term, right? though it could be appealing to the public, and to those who use bitcoin, given how the country is implementing such a technological advacements not only to the society but also for the tourists.

XMR, i think it has the potential to become one of the main cryptocurrency in the darknet. But to be honest, bitcoin transactions in the darknet will continue for a very long time even after BTC becomes mainstream.

Ive been there before, and doesn't here any new about bitcoin there but now i am also overwhelmed that bitcoin would be legalized in that country it would help to make bitcoin more popular and i think other asian country will start to think and learn how it would be legalized and fully adopted.

Well, what's the kind of inflation that you see in Thailand? Is the currency stable? If not, I can see why there would be a lot of Bitcoin acceptance and why most shops would provide it as an option, since it is probably more stable than the domestic currency if that's the case. Good news for the Bitcoin enthusiasts in Thailand and to the whole crypto community. It might give people the financial freedom in that country. Asian countries are looking forward to see potential in Bitcoin investments. I hope that one day adoption and usage of Bitcoin would be like that of Japan whereas they use it locally in department stores and any services. And you are right about the great opportunity and advantage of Bitcoin in tourism because I think it is more convenient in doing transactions with Bitcoins than fiat money when we are on a tour. That’s quite a good news. At the earlier time I heard that they are not accepting Bitcoin and that Thai government has banned citizens from making use of Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.
