Looking like IXcoin may be in its death throes.

No exchange, no more leviathan pools and now the community on life support.

Full circle - I was here mostly alone 3 years ago [except for Deadsea] and now it ends the same way?

Tragic ending...

Thanks brother!

Going down with the ship if that's my destiny.  No coins and and no exchange to dump them on so I guess my choice is a simple one.

Thanks for sticking with me and IXC this long.

It's interesting you say that cause I've heard that over and over again behind the scenes.

Maybe I just don't know any better.

But if it is courage then it's something which comes from above cause I have nearly quit many times; not just iXcoin but IX as well.  Wink

After all this; I remain hopeful!

There is nothing to say, since there is no news.
Question: any opinion about Safecex.com or Yobit.net exchanges?

Has Ahmed started on the Coinomi update.  It's already paid for.  That will give us an exchange.

Although, we should also have at least one conventional exchange as well.

Isn't that a 10-fold jump?  If so, did the code get updated?  Thx!

Edit:  Actually I think it was at 500,000,000 last month so this is trending back.  But i'm curious if the code got updated.

Cointopay.com, in order to add iXcoin, is asking, if possible, to make them available a node enabling them to connect via RPC.
Anybody can help Cointopay on this?

Regards

That would make their wallet vulnerable to who-ever hosts the node, seems kind of bad idea.

I could let them use a node of mine but it seems crazy for them to want to...

Plus of course they could then steal all their own coin and pretend it was me that stole it...

Which code?

If you're asking if miners ever upgraded to a later client the answer is no.  99% of blocks still get created with the 2012 version of the client, 0.3.24.3.

That's bad news.  We don't want anyone running it high until the code is updated; lest it be held hostage again.

I notice most miners are still using the old 0.3.24.3 client.  I'm curious to know if there is a particular reason for this?  Are the later clients unstable for mining or what?

Since you're running a pool I figure you may have some insight into this question.  It has baffled me why miners don't upgrade.
I'm not running the 0.9.x client but the one before that was done. As far as I know the 0.9.x client has not been tested with merge mining whereas the one I'm running was. I did the tests, found bugs, reported them and they were fixed so I've stuck with that one. Is there a tested working 0.9.x client?

I think the reason for people using the older clients is the newer ones have not been well advertised or tested with mining.

Can you tell me the exact version you're using.  There have actually been several versions of 0.9.x released.
I use a 0.8.x version, a variant of this version. Only minor changes for pool features.

A couple of months back I asked mmpool why he doesn't upgrade to 0.9.x.  At least he's running 0.8.x, so he's doing better than most.  His answers are above.

Here's my take.  The big miners are stuck because they don't want to fork the block chain like F2Pool did.   What we really need is a client which is guaranteed not to fork the block chain.  Has mmpool tested 0.8.x enough to guarantee this?  I don't know.  Obviously the majority of miners don't think so.

I think the best option is to write the code so the new mining rules won't kick in until 95% of the blocks are being mined with the new client.  We would have to set the rules to match the old 0.3.24.3 client, then once we have 95% of the miners upgraded then, and only then, would the latest set of rules kick in.  This is a tried and tested method.  The great thing about this technique is it doesn't matter how long it takes to hit the 95% upgrade mark.  It could be days, months or years.  Meanwhile, the block chain stays stable.

We would need to test and advertise this very well so miners would know that it's safe to upgrade.  We could do this with the next major Bitcoin client as the baseline, which should be 0.12.0.  Or if that's too big of a jump, modify 0.8.x or 0.9.x to use the same 95% rule change method.

If you guys get the code done and tested I'll "advertise" it to the miners in a hurry.  Wish we could this quickly, like 30-60 days.  Gotta feeling things are gonna take off by April.

Eventually someone writes what Ixcoin is and what 'I' stands for.

 http://www.scl.org/site.aspx?i=ed46568

IxCoin (IXC): The International eXchange Coin[10] is the first Bitcoin clone, it was released in 2011 and it can be mined at the same time as BTC. It also has a limit of 21 million coins, but much shorter mining period (all coins should be mined in 2015).

That's interesting, especially since I think friction came up with that and well, it's friction.  lol

But what does that mean?  It's never made sense to me.  How is the coin itself an eXchange?
