there used to be a QT with bitcoin, giestgeld and a few other chains like tenebrix and fairbrix. Due to how buggy it was abandoned. It was essentially what your talking about - the deciding on the route part. It was called multicoin-qt

Ahmed

That was years ago, you don't think the bugs can be worked out if we had the resources?  I know, that's a big IF.

Cause I think the idea is really groundbreaking if it can be done right.  TIA

The bugs could possibly be built out. But in the time it takes to build it out. You could pretty much build your own QT

it seems most of these multi wallets want to include chains that are not sha256d.

I assume you are talking about
https://github.com/ArtForz/MultiCoin-qt
(fixed bug in ixcoin config to support older versions of multicoin )

edit (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24209.0)
The MultiCoin client is a  slightly modified and very experimental Bitcoin client that allows transactions with an unlimited number of crypto currencies block chains and also the creation of new crypto chains.   Each different crypto currency can have a different set of rules and a different root block that is controlled by settings in the MultiCoin config file.  Multicoin has also be opening up new methods of linked chains and advanced methods of transaction including escrow and multi sign transactions.

I also found
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/multicoin-wallet-roundup-multiple-altcoin-wallet-trailblazers/
07/05/2014

ALL-CoinWallet-QT Multicoin Wallet
Orca OnLine Multicoin Wallet RPC Server Controller
PHP5 Bitcoin API With Multicoin Wallet Support

also already mentioned is the supernet wallet. so obviously someone out there has had these ideas before.  fudge, i wish bitcoin would just add atomic transactions code..

bitcoin, clones itself, then merge mines its clones to itself. I'm sure a game theorist such as satoshi saw this coming and had a plan. Now what? What is that pesky bitcoin got up it's sleeve? Will bitcoin share some of those extra transactions it doesn't want? Why can't we be friends....

the more i read about multicoin, the more it makes me realize that the code might already be there.

namecoin and ixcoin are/were already supported. escrow is mentioned. in our case that could be shapeshift.

hmm a multicoin fork with just bitcoin, namecoin ,and ixcoin with shapeshift added in, = #winning  Wink

= not winning. that code was based on btc 0.2 or 0.3 we're now on 0.10. Even that's going to take a hell of a long time to update.

Damn ahmed, youre a tough cookie, you know im not suggsting you do any more work.  It would have to be someone elses time anyway.

Atleast it costs nothing to dream. And if i wait long enough then i can prob just use jl777's instantdex, of course that will share with other non- sha256d chains but im not racist so its all good.

thanks for participating in this thought experiment though.

Ixcoin been a leader since day 1!

IXcoin was the original alt coin, the first Bitcoin clone that started all of this. I0coin was a response to IXcoin and is the reason this forum exist in the first place. People kept posting about IXcoin in the main forum and the post kept getting deleted. So in an attempt to keep the main forum from getting cluttered up, this forum was born?

Here's a thought. What is the feasibility of adding in atomic transactions with i0coin? Ie. Both i0coin and ixcoin modify their code to allow atomic transactions between each other.

Im glad i am lol. Considering IXC has 2 devs atm who are mostly part time and unpaid. which is me and cinnamon. I'm only being realistic when i say doing something like multicoin-qt is damn near impossible.

You know how many people in crypto world know this?  Maybe 7 [TOTAL] people.

We really need to start using that as one of iXcoin's advantages and push the truth that [amongst other things] iXCoin is the OG, the original alt-coin, given NMC is totally something else and NMC is only 2 weeks older anyway.  Everyone out there literally thinks that Litecoin came after Bitcoin.  Litecoin wasn't even the first script coin.

I wanna make Litecoin iXCoin little bitch.  Help me do that, Johnny; give me that 1,000 IXC back! Hahaha!

Put a dollar value on this project and I'll at least set my mind on it.  Maybe I'll find a way until IXC goes boom, and after that I won't be going around begging the rich for pocket change anymore.

Wait, one of Ixcoin's advantages over the other scams is that it was the first one?

exactly a lightweight client maybe not a full qt , no thanks,

edit 1 sending you a pm about this crazy idea, no hurry to read or get back i don't see it happening.......  ever.........

I think thats dumb from a developer perspective. A QT with 2 chains would a) be huge b) be quite buggy (thats why it was abandoned 3 years ago)

Why would you watch this thread so closely?  Unless you where afraid people would choose to put there euros into this turd regardless of your opinion...

Haha.  Your sarcasm and sense of humor is unique.  I'm surprised you haven't "slapped" me yet.  lol

I never worked hard to argue with your posts because there should always be a voice of reason or someone to point out the real risks in any investment.  Someone like me can become overly enthusiastic or drunk on water, as it were, so it's good to have your criticism.  The risks you pointed out were always real and they still are.

But I hope all you early Bitcoin adopters get on-board soon....train be ready to take off, y'all!  lol

Is  Luke Connell back after a long absence? (See twitter)

Luke is being Luke, no answer - just more vague talk so I'd say he's not back.  We really need dependable people and not people who flake out and fail to communicate even at an elementary level.
