hey thanks DeadSea but honestly i really did 'nothing' !!!  Just sent an e mail !!

Vlad made all the connections to get iX on shapeshift which i think is a VERY BIG DEAL AND STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION !!!!

They asked a few questions about a couple of rpc commands,  which they thought were not enabled or working on our current client.

All I did was tell them they were in fact working ok from my tests and checks and also showed their people exactly where in the code they could enable features or disable them for any coin............

(likely something their team knew anyway)

To the poster above looking for nodes please reference this post for your ix.conf file

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230141.msg11699116#msg11699116

Everyone please use shapeshift for iX , lots of coin pumps and bumps going on now but iX is as steady as ever !!

Thanks to anyone I did not mention here behind the scenes who made it happen but I gotta give Vlad the credit..........

For a guy who can't write a line of code he sure as hell can network some of the biggest people in the world of cryptocurrency together in ways that I have seen and won't detail here in public but I have to say I was /still am impressed.

Well done, Cinnamon.

23hrs behind - no block sauce available

So i booted up a spare win 7 laptop that has ixcoin installed and was working, it is stuck 6 weeks back with zero peers.

I booted a diff win 7 laptop that doesnt have ixcoin. I used cinnamons client from the .org site and ixcoin.conf from http://ixc.boards.net/thread/62/find-any-connection-version-wallet?page=1&scrollTo=218

and it took 1 hr to dl the chain. it is working and up todate. the other one is still stalled out. (when i have time , ill investigate this)

Edit (I'm doing way to many things this morning, total user error on my part. When I corrected the problem which was me being dumb, the client synced in 2 minutes)

this is the client I have been using on Vlad's github

here is your conf file

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230141.msg11699116#msg11699116

should be good to go  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

edit one---- note,  the reason i never release clients with 'installers' is because depending on what they had before and if you are not 100% perfect that your code works on every version of windows sooner or later some poor person could end up with a deleted wallet they never backed up.  I learned a long time ago from someone eleses advice stay away from the self installing package !!

If anyone wants this feel free to build and distribute it yourself......

If iX continues to grow to a wider audience lightweight clients will likely be necessary since very few people are going to run a full qt client ever.

Just wanted to say that and thanks to all iX supporters,  everyone thinks I am a major holder in iX , honestly i own only a handfull of coins

Especially compared to how many I know some people have implied they hold !!!

I mainly got involved with this since I like coding and Vlad asked me to help him out so in between my other projects I have tried to lend a hand and it has overall been a good learning experience for me.  I know my limitations and try to stay within them and provide help when I can.

Also being a woman in a male dominated field is never easy.......  Still iX has a pretty loyal and it appears growing community based on the number of connections I see to the client !!!!  Finally some are actually starting to use the 9.x client posted above vs. the old buggy /likely to crash 3.x series......

Cheers

Thanks Cinnamon, that really means a lot to me!   Smiley

Let's hope this momentum continues.  Getting the first few connections is the hardest part, now I think we have enough big names on board that investors will have to wonder what's going on with iXcoin.

Vlad, IXCoin is not going to be perceived as fast, thus not as a fast lane, as its blocks are 10 minutes, same as bitcoin's, I think.

The fast merged mined coins are I0Coin at I think one and a half minutes or so, and GeistGeld at something like twelve seconds, which no public pool merges because its miners would all need new work every 12 seconds!

How fast of a fast lane do you want/need?

Also, a black swan might imply someone thought what you accomplished was a "black swan event", as in a "dark horse contender" and suchlike terms.

Cinnamon, if you are not already a tenured recipient of a DeVCoin share per cycle for being a lifestyle free open source coder who is always working on *some* free open source project or other, get on there. I think it is distinct from the "oh you are working on a specific project, here are DeVCoins while you work on that project" grants.

-MarkM-

P.S. Presumably who-ever just dumped 6k+ IXC on my buy-side orders on Cryptsy didn't get the memo? Yum yum, "cheap" IXCoin, back on the sell side they go to keep providing liquidity...

(The painful thing about being a liquidity provider is now I am selling the darn things at less than 10k satoshis apiece! Arg! Smiley

I only manage to do it by telling myself they aren't my real IXCoins, they are just a float on Cryptsy doing the liquidity thing.)

Mark, I didn't notice that was a black swan.  Thx!

I guess I owe the guy an apology and a thanks!

About IXC, we can reduce the time to 2 minutes but that won't be necessary.

We have a road-map [in our minds] where IXC can easily do instant transactions and we now have almost all the key players in place to accomplish that goal.

I've been trying to raise $50,000 to build the mobile app and website to tie it all together but I haven't succeeded yet.

But IXC is definitely coming together in a bigger way than I even imagined and imagined huge things happening for IXC back in 2013.

I can't stop thinking about that dual wallet idea you brought up where IXC would be the fast lane for Bitcoin/Crypto.

Do you still think that's a good idea?  We would need to get the biggest pools to agree and the biggest exchanges, correct?

That's partly why I'm gonna try to push the biggest Chinese exchanges to add us to their exchange.  Not sure they'll even respond but I can try.  Getting them to also merge mine IXC would also help get IXC more secure and decentralized as well.  Thanks again!

I think bitcoin should be thought of as a sha256d hardware network instead of one chain. It makes sense for me to envision a multiwallet that helps to act as a transaction router that puts your transaction on the appropriate chain for what your use is.

from i0coin op
I0coin makes an excellent choice when the high security of Bitcoin is desired, but faster block times are needed.  It's perfect for vendors because transactions are confirmed fast.  It also enables I0coin to have higher transaction throughput.  Bitcoin devs have been expressing concern over their transaction volume hitting a ceiling soon.  I0coin has a much higher ceiling because it processes its transactions every 1.5 minutes instead of every 10 minutes.

Fast block times make for a great platform for financial extensions like Colored Coins, Counterparty, and Mastercoin.  I0coin's lower price means it can support smart contracts and smart assets for a much lower cost than Bitcoin.

I think thats dumb from a developer perspective. A QT with 2 chains would a) be huge b) be quite buggy (thats why it was abandoned 3 years ago)

True.

But what's gonna happen next year when BTC has 8mb-20mb blocks and a much more massive chain?  What about in 2-3 years?

They'll figure out a way to work with "lite" wallets or some other solution for a huge chain.

If Bitcoin is gonna be ok then we have to assume we can do it and just go for it, get the jump on all the rest.  We have massive partners in China that can really push this through for us, I'm certain of that - even if I have to go to Beijing myself.

The potential for a dual wallet, especially if we can become the fast lane for Bitcoin, is ENORMOUS!

Keep it coming, Johnny be Good!  lol

Ahmed

What was abandoned 3 years ago? Can you point me to a discussion?

Really, im just trying to go down a train of thought of ixcoin and bitcoin and other sha256d chains working together. Why not have some type of wallet or engine or something that routes transactions to the appropriate network? Or provide the tools for the user to do it like transaction backlog meters or meter which shows the  network with the lowest fee, etc. Im starting to see that bitcoin isn't interested in certain transactions. Dust, gambling, counterparty, etc. why not encourage them to run on the sha256d hardware network? Bitcoin is also becoming synonymous with blockchain so then bitcoinshould be thought of as the sha256d hardware network

I never implied one would need to run both qt's but i'd def rather run ixcoin.

Im thinking either a litewallet, that can do both
Or
Ixcoin blockchain with bitcoin litewallet

As an aside, regardless of how people feel about it. The supernet requires nxt and bitcoindark chains to run, or you can use their litewallet and not dl anything.

I also am putting forth the idea that maybe mastercoin omnicoin copies itself to ixcoin and i0coin and the three mastercore engines talk to each other.

Id love to hear what you have to say about the merge mining coins working together ahmed.

there used to be a QT with bitcoin, giestgeld and a few other chains like tenebrix and fairbrix. Due to how buggy it was abandoned. It was essentially what your talking about - the deciding on the route part. It was called multicoin-qt
