JohnnyBTCseed, What exactly are we gonna IPO? I don't get that?
I don't see how Vircurex has harmed IXC. I still use Vircurex and so do a lot of old Bitcoiners.
All this time we've been fighting to get listed on more exchanges and now we're fighting to stay on just one?
That's ridiculous.
All current exchanges are: At your own Risk. Nobody has to use vircurex if they don't feel it's safe but the option should be left open given Vircurex is one of the oldest exchanges around.
I vote to keep IXC on there and to vote with your wallet.

Anyone still on Vircurex is just asking to have their coins confiscated. I don't think we should be recommending to IXC owners that they keep their money in Vircurex. Vircurex has scammed too many people out of their hard earns BTC and LTC. I lost BTC because of them. I recommend we remove IXC from Vircurex as soon as possible. IXC has low enough liquidity that maintaining a scam exchange like Vircurex only distorts that actual price. Nobody in his right mind want to deposit BTC with Vircurex, so the Vircurex listing constantly supresses the price of IXC. Vlad, if you know anything about supply and demand, then you know the lack of BTC supply at Vircurex forces IXC prices lower. Vlad you continue to be on the wrong side of the argument. Vircurex needs to be avoided at all costs. IXC needs investments in development. IXC needs to continually innovate. All you are saying is, IXC has some mystery behind it and it will explode in value, IXC needs no development or no new innovation, keep your money in Vircurex because they are old and trustworthy. WHAT A BUNCH OF B.S.!

Friction,
First and foremost, if/when Thomas shows up then you can freely take any bounty you earn. There are a lot of iXcoins left for development in that premine, which was set aside for coding and other things.
But if not you're gonna have to decide if you're a dev here or a hired hand.
I seriously doubt Satoshi was paying Gavin out of his very large wallet to do serious coding for Bitcoin in the early days. From what I know, none of those engineers got paid and they did massive coding for Bitcoin when it was worth less than what IXC is worth today.
That's why they were devs and not just workers.
You're putting IXC DEV on your business cards [which is ok] but you need to choose which you prefer to be. The money people pitch in can be used for news releases, buying ATMs for IXC and other really important things.
You currently own over 1% of IXC, more than most people here and more than Gavin ever owned. If you believe in IXC then the work you do here [pro bono] will result in a huge payout later, when IXC takes off.
I never heard of Roger Ver, Satoshi or anyone else [in the early days] paying Gavin [a Princeton Engineer] from their wallets to help out.
This is how open source works. You find a project which you believe in and pitch in with any talent, skills or free time you may have. That's exactly what I've been doing for a year now.
Please, choose your project and do your best for it.
Thanks!

"All you are saying is, IXC has some mystery behind it and it will explode in value, IXC needs no development or no new innovation, keep your money in Vircurex because they are old and trustworthy. WHAT A BUNCH OF B.S.!"
The above is absurd.
I have made technical arguments for why IXC has numerous advantages [over all alts] LONG before you became the paid dev here.
Last year I was the only one here, with Deadsea33.
And you'd have to be blind to not see there's lots of mystery behind IXC.
Just try asking Thomas some simple questions about IXC and see how he avoids them all.
Sorry, but no other coin dev refuses to answer the most simple questions.
If you think I bought IXC just cause it's got hidden meanings and mystery, then you've missed most of my posts. The hidden meanings and mystery came after I bought most of my coins and it's a bonus as it implies there MAY be something going on.
And if the people here vote to remove IXC from Vircurex then so be it. But not you and not even Thomas [at this point] have the single authority to make such a big decision all by yourself on behalf of all of us.
You didn't ask for a vote, you thought for us and VOTED for us.
Now that is BullShit and that's exactly why we need a board who will act in the best interest of the many and not just in the best interest of one personal view.

Thomas is some guy who decided to pay a bunch of developers to create a new coin way back in early 2011. He is not some mysterious guy who has some deep insight on IXC. I calculate that at best he has around 200,000 IXC left. Not a lot of coin. That is why he doesn't spare the time to hang around here. He does not care, nor does he give a damn about IXC's future because he barely has any skin in the game left. Vircurex is a scam of an exchange. If you continue to promote it, then I question your ethics. Yes, I am recommending that Vircurex de-list IXC for ethical and economic reasons. The real issue of IXC is getting cooperation from GHash.IO, you should be spending most of your lip service trying to get them involved with development.

Eventually some lively discussion among the members of the board. Well IXC trading is so boring that we got to generate some other action elsewhere!

I'm not promoting Vircurex.
I never told a single person to put money in Vicurex and when people ask I tell them to use Cryptsy cause it's in the US and appears safer.
So if anything, I have been promoting Cryptsy.
And you're really gonna imply I have shitty ethics [with your trust rating glowing bright red]?
Now that is funny.
And I am talking with ghash.io, the biggest mining pool on earth.
But that takes a lot of time and effort and some skill to get them to back IXC for nothing, so you and others here have to stop being so selfish and cheap with your coins and pay me.
[You see how bad that sounds?]

GHASH.IO is already backing IXC.. what we need is that they upgrade their code to the latest version of IXC.

First, they should wait until the next update. Secondly, they're building in-house trading tools and a special User Interface just for iXcoin so I wouldn't be too worried about them not updating the latest code. Latest as in the next update. And that's what I would call, backing iXcoin. [Now pay me for my hard work!] haha!

That's great news! I do not know enough about Vircurex to say whether or not good idea to be de-listed there or not. Agree should update IXC code at some point. full disclosure - i hold some IXC coins.

I would NOT advise anyone to put money in Vircurex when we have Cryptsy. But vircurex is a major exchange and some people still prefer to use it. Just thought it would be considerate to throw the idea out there for a vote. Not a lot to ask for given this is supposedly a community project.

personally i don't care if you or anyone else mines my coins at all, i never asked anyone to buy anything or put anything up all i did here was make a few small changes to source to be able to compile the wallet as i stated previously the source code as it was would not compile , at least not for me i've compiled probably over 100 different coin clients of all types so if I have trouble getting a win qt to build I think others probably would too i compiled with the latest openssl and added a checkpoint to my 'unofficial' git and client, i find it strange the last checkpoint of iX code was at block 4500 ? https://github.com/photonproject/iXcoin/blob/master/src/checkpoints.cpp#L44checkpoints are so easy to do , strange no one ever included one in any update
no real hard work, happy to contribute, since I was studying the source code to this and iO to learn more about merged mining ..... alas.... i learned some things however BlueDragon747 (the blake coin developer) is way ahead and we will probably have merged mining of photon and blake coin out in a few days, a little off topic here ,
Blake coin isn't even a SHA256 coin, so how is it going to be merged mined? Never heard of photon. IMHO, this is some B.S. to get you folks to invest in blakecoin or photon.

Check out my coin Photon Merge Mine 5 other Blake 256 coins - 6x your hash power https://www.blakecoin.org/The obvious choice is not always the best choice. LOOK DEEPER - Look into the Blake 256 Family -- CC

Thanks Cinnamon.
Checkpoints may only take 10 minutes to put in, and they're very important but when it takes 5 months to update the code, then checkpoints may not be so easy after-all.

What use are checkpoints when you have like 20 peta hashes? This is not some pump and dump coin that very little hashes backing it.

Community Update:
I have officially asked the CIO of CEX.io (Ghash.io) to join our new [Still Forming] iXcoin Foundation Board.
For those who don't know, ghash.io/CEX.io is the biggest merge mining pool in the world and [alone] could make or break any merge mined coins, including iXcoin. Therefore, we would be very Fortunate to have Jeffrey as an iXcoin Foundation Board member.
I'm not sure whether he will accept or not. If it's in the best interest of his company, and I think it is, then he will accept.
It would be a great benefit for iXcoin as it would [Add Great Talent and Diversity to the board] while removing the biggest [short term] risk for iXcoin, the imminent risk of large pools no longer merge mining IXC once we reach Terminal Mining [in September, 2014].
That said, you all have a few days to give your opinions regarding this crucial move.
Please get involved, do NOT allow me or any other individual to singularly dictate the direction and future of YOUR investment.
Unlike every other Coin-Dev, I see iXcoin as a Currency/Stock hybrid, a new Breed, a new Form of Corporation [and just like with any current public Corporation] anyone currently holding iXcoins, no matter how few, has a voice in this new CryptoStock Company, iXcoin!

What does it tell you? Any comment? That the bottom is 5000 satoshis and buying anything over 15000 satoshis can get you into trouble? I think DeadSea was referring to something else. I think he was pointing out that there's been massive accumulation of iXcoin. A very interesting thing given IXC is still unpopular, still considered dead and still with no large holders to be openly found. So why all the stealth buying - massive buying? But I agree with Friction as well, people looking to buy IXC right now should give it a chance to drop below ~8,000 Satoshi. I paid over 20,000 Satoshi for a lot of my coins just to watch it drop to 5,000. There's still time to accumulate, although that time is quickly ticking down to zero.
