so im out the rest is yours I thought I read 600 coins, not blocks Edit: Nevermind...600 Blocks not coins I misread this too as coins, that's about 10k coins... So far for some people here thinking most hashes come from people being interested in prime world records

414$ made him 600 blocks, at least 9000 XPM. That's mining costs of 0.046$ or ~0.0005BTC per XPM. Guess it's safe to assume this as the lowest price possible for now. Ofcourse only a small minority are able to do such a mining operation, just throwing this out, looking for your thoughts.

Only a small minority could put $400 into Amazon EC2? One 7970 costs the same.

We can all do this kind of mining operation. Be aware that in the first days the price was highest. He was break-even very early in this game. Correct me if I'm wrong, you just need a credit card and the guts to start up a mining operation in the cloud. No, I didn't do it, but congrats to those who did. I myself mined on my own systems, getting far less than 600 blocks (60 perhaps) My only question to these guys is: why didn't you double your operation, or increase it by 10x a few days ago? Edit hey FiiNALiZE thx for playing at the casino, it's nice to see it being used on a regular basis by some people What game do you want to see me add in the nearby future?

"Ofcourse only a small minority are able to do such a mining operation" Uh, no. Anyone who chooses, anyone who thinks of it in time, could / can do this. "~0.0005BTC per XPM" Thank you for this calculation. This is the true price floor for the last few day's worth of mining. Now, who has stated they will buy all that's available at 0.003 or less?

By small minority i meant tech-savvy people. Most people in the digitalocean thread would have given up frustrated without it i guess. But i guess it's good, or an even smaller number of people would hold an even bigger lot of XPM.

I can't believe people are still buying at 0.0025 when you see this thread. But again, congratz for the people still using cloud power to get blocks... Wonder why these buyers at exchanges don't just mine themselves for 1/5th of the price.

IMO generation cost doesn't equal realistic price (you have to calculate in manpower and ofcourse demand). Also generation cost is rising quickly.

The high profit is very short term, a couple of days max, maybe hours. I wouldn't spend hours setting up a cloud CPU farm for just 1-2 BTC max. before the coin is oversold. But again, some may see it worth spending hours, depends on what you care for

The golden times are over atm, but still, it was worth it at that time

i'm still mining on my home servers, but nevertheless it was funny to write scripts to automate the privatekey transfers etc. i know there are few people mining with 100-600 instances, but that was right above my budget i want to invest or can invest

With difficulty at 8.66 we are seeing the block spacing increase to ~9 seconds... It's likely we will see block spacing >10 seconds soon as 'Aggro' and others unwind some VPS hosting instances...

I'm not sure if anybody has mentioned it in this thread yet, but we now have PrimecoinTalk.org in case anyone wants to make the jump over. This website is dedicated to both of Sunny's coins XPM and PPC. Besides this thread, Sunny King also regularly posts over there and has voiced his support in favor of people making the jump... Nice! Yes I would love to see more xpm supporters hang out here.
So please join us in developing Primecoin and making it a successful coin... Join PrimecoinTalk.org Now!

It's harder to track 2 forums but this definently helps. It would have been better if XPM had it's own standalone forum.
