Just a reminder, DigitalOcean 16-core instances get around 2500-2600 primes per sec, and cost $0.72 per hour.
So that's why I'm no longer getting any blocks :s Yeah. Quite a few people now have >10,000PPS.

It should have, although it would be slower. Possibly even slower than if you had used "-march=x86_64".
EDIT: -march implies -mtune. Don't use -mtune.
Yes, march implies mtune, but not vice-versa. I will give -march=x86_64 a try, thanks for the suggestion. no bueno on x86_64, possibly my version of gcc is too old, not sure. error: bad value (x86_64) for -march= switch EDIT: NVM, should be x86-64. All right, here's a binary compiled for x86-64 in general with -O3. Won't be as fast as the i5-specific builds, but HOPEFULLY this one will work over a wider range of processors. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q7w4fosqjyqydff/release8_x86-64.zip

Try 32-core EC2 instance Yes, about 4500 pps and it's cheaper.

I really hope that early miners choose not to dump this coin. The price looks promising right now and is rising after 12 hours+ on an exchange, which is a really exciting prospect for a new coin. I fear that those using cluster VPS's though will dump soon in order to pay for the high mining cost. Please please please don't do this yet - if you hold for now and dont kill the coin straight away they will be worth a lot more in a few months.

Seeking advice,
Client on PC#1 says 8 active connections to primecoin network
But on PC#2 it says 0 active connections to primecoin network, and doesn't seem able to update it's "out of sync" status.

No they are not. So much ignorance and delusion in this thread. Why do you believe GPU miners aren't on the way? Both sieving and primality testing can be ported to the GPU. It is a race to the bottom, but once the difficulty reaches a certain point it's change is going to plateau. And the reward will remain relatively constant.

You might need to kickstart it with addnode= in config.. I had a problem with that earlier today.

Now we wait until someone makes a Primecoin clone called ULTRA-VALUE-GEM-BAR-DIAMOND-PLATINUM-GOLD-SUPER-FUCKTASTIC-Coin with twice the block reward and a 100,000 premine.
