Just looking at the first page info again, you mention installing the hashing board into a pc case.  For this, do you have any particular slot in mind? 5.25 3.5 pcie etc?  Also, do you know the approximate size (I may already have space for it, therwise I'll know what to expect.)

A single Drillbit Board will fit in a 3.5 inch hard drive slot. You can also stick it into a spare pci slot (just to hold it there, not for connectivity)

Hey Guyver.

I do apologize for having not sorted out shipping details yet. I went to the post office yesterday and got lots of information. I will be making up a table soon. Basically it will be based on weight and shipping type (tracking, express etc). I have been saying $50 - $100 to people as a generic approximate quote worldwide. I'll have the shipping details sorted next week.

I've put in the current PayPal cost, power use assuming 1W per chip, and middle shipping fee based on the range Barntech has been saying.  I left the difficulty, diff increase, pool fee, and BTC exchange rate as the default values.  Set misc cables to $0 on the assumption I can fit the boards inside my pre-existing cases with pre-existing power supplies. 

I'm curious what scenarios others envision?  Are we all just assuming the exchange rate goes up to make any ROI here?  Or are people betting diff increase isn't accurate?   Or are we resigned to be hobbyists?

IMHO, it's a fair assessment. Maybe a month or two either way but the end result is the same. We're hobbyists.

IMHO, it's a fair assessment. Maybe a month or two either way but the end result is the same. We're hobbyists.

If you put our numbers into here http://www.coinish.com/calc it does come out as favorable, suggesting that these boards will provide ROI and go on to make some profit. Nothing is sure though in Bitcoin land, especially difficulty, so its hard to tell. Like with most things bitcoin, its a gamble, and it may well pay off, and i guess even if it doesn't, it won't be far off and we've all had some fun while doing it. I'd say yes, we are hobbyists. But we might also make a decent return here. I hope so. Personally i do this stuff because i enjoy it. I've actually got my old GPU miner still chugging away in the corner giving me 3 GH/s, even though its probably costing me more for power than it makes. Go figure. These boards are different though because their power draw is much much less, so than can chug away for the next 5 years without making much of an imprint. And hey BTC might go up hugely. Who knows. But yes, none of us are going to become overnight millionaires here, but we might make a bit of money, and certainly get to enjoy being a part of something big,  new and exciting. At least, that's how i feel about Bitcoin. Hope you guys agree.

Yes, these boards will not see ROI if they are delivered by December 1st. There is a very short delivery window, all the profit will come in November, or never at all. Here's to hoping Barntech can get this first batch out quickly. It's also possible that we will see a smaller rise in difficulty now that the network is so strong and not many 24-28nm chips are hitting the market. If KNCMiner delivers in Sept/Oct like they have promised, though, difficulty rise of 66% could be conservative for the next few months. Buying kit is a tough game, but I'll be happy to have some 55nm tech at least.
