Wow, he has actually 103 Bitcoin in his wallet. He must be really disappointed with losing his wallet.dat. I wish he gets it soon as possible back but that is nearly impossible.

Actually who is this guy ? Does he has a name ?

Just heard the name, but actually did not know if it was true, if it was true that he lost 103 BTC I wish he would find them soon, who took his, please open it back to him. Take a little, do not force him into the path of poverty.
Yes for sure it is really a high lose, but it use to happen with new user most of the time only because they become careless for the safety of bitcoin if they won’t share their private key with anyone, and will buy after making high research then I don’t think this kind of news will come in front of us, but we should remain careful while buying bitcoin because people are there to hack and scam your bitcoin just stay active mate.

Are you even reading the OP? It says he lost his wallet.dat file the reason he can't open his wallet and obviously making those bitcoin lost forever. He did not gave his private key and he is not a new user as he said that he is a miner back in 2011.

In terms of losing our digital currencies, Hacking and scamming is not the only way. Being irresponsible to our assets is another way of losing our money the same as the guy that we are talking about now.

So much money in bitcoin. That's way hardware wallet is best choice to keep your digital asset than software wallet. If you missing your file on your PC, you cant access your wallet and you will lost it. Try to buy ledger wallet or trezor to keep your wallet. It's safe and recommended.
Yes. If such a large amount of money should be bought separately for storage, this is probably a mistake for him. And now he has learned a lot. but late. But do not fall for that. Let's try to pass and the bright future comes again.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

Those were the days when bitcoin was actually undervalued and the price is not as much as of now. Maybe, that person took for granted that amount of bitcoin because its not valuable as is now. But no, if you lose that amount, it will be really so disapointing and saddening.

I think that you should not keep all your savings in one purse. This story can make us all think.

I have heard a few days back that the Ledger wallet was also hacked as hacker developed a sort of system that as soon as the offline wallet was brought online a typical type of virus infect it and cause the coins to transfer to some address. So nothing is Hacker free. All we have to do is to be extremely careful no matter how hard is the security.

Oh boy, hopefully that is not the case. I thought at least the hardware wallets such as nano ledger S were safe. I guess as long as there isnt enough safety for the users, crypto wont be changing the world for good. People need safety for their money, and as long as there is the risk of loosing the assets because you clicked on the wrong link once, it cant really become mainstream. But thats just my 2 cents.
Thanks for pointing that out though, I will read about it and probably rethink the security measures I took so far.

That's a lot of huge now but not much back in 2011.  Probably he could have bought back some bitcoin after 2011. There is no one to be blammed for losing access to your wallets. Let everyone know the value of what they have even when it's undervalued and keep it stored safely to avoid touching stories after some years.

It used to be very small, but now it's very high, and maybe over time somebody figured out how to recover that data, but now we have to be more careful about our wallets.

However even if this happened to you please always remember that you all have a lot of chances to recover and that it's not the end of the line yet. This will serve as a learning to all bitcoin users that all of us must be very watchful the next time.

So sorry to hear this
In my opinion we should create a tech. for people to recover lost amounts
this is what is missing in my opinion
I mean, it is too easy to lose everything in one second...

I would agree that if we fail in bitcoin we need to start again because if we stop we can lose the chance of a lifetime. Failure can be a motivation just think positive and learn more about what you are in. Be vigilant in the coming new projects.

I'm to a great degree sorry for his misfortune, this must be an extremely excruciating knowledge, yet his story fills in as a decent lesson for every one of us: making reinforcements of our wallet.dat records and our passwords are very essential and this is a simple errand these days, when we can purchase pen drives and additionally distributed storage for truly peanuts.
