A sad story, but this once again confirms that you need to be very attentive to everything that you do, especially if it concerns earnings. Too expensive a mistake the guy.

So how did he lose it? Does he still have the hard drive? If so I would suggest not using it, and scanning it with software that restores deleted files.

I am not good in software, but, for example, if I had deleted my files on my hard drive, and then I have been saving this drive for 5-6 years. Does software able to restore deleted data ?

Dude, I am sure, he had been behaving to this btc careless, because they were cheap.
I think It feels like: imagine a token, the price which is 0.001$ and you don't know what will happen to this coin, do you really think you will save it like the apple of eye (idiom) ?

It is good most of us weren't around that time when bitcoin was mined in such large numbers, most of us would have been in the same situation if not
all of us. Currently, we've heard stories like this and learnt our lessons from them.
Everyone is cautious with their login details now.

A guy could be a millionaire right now... And reading this story, I want to remind all investors-very attentive to the way you store your bitcoins, it is no less important than the purchase itself.

Wow, he has actually 103 Bitcoin in his wallet. He must be really disappointed with losing his wallet.dat. I wish he gets it soon as possible back but that is nearly impossible.

Actually who is this guy ? Does he has a name ?

Just heard the name, but actually did not know if it was true, if it was true that he lost 103 BTC I wish he would find them soon, who took his, please open it back to him. Take a little, do not force him into the path of poverty.

Crypto still can't account for human error..I myself lost some bitcoin on anonymous exchange because I forgot to back up my password. I think most of have made a mistake that has costed us money, just not to the extent of 103 bitcoins.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

Whoa! 103BTCis a huge amount. What happened anyway? He lost his wallet.dat file? as far as I know it can be retrievable right? What a pity

if that's really happen. I remembered before there is someone also hacked a huge amount of bitcoin on Electrum wallet I think it was 90BTC.

So, I think we need to be careful and save properly into our wallet.

Yes for sure it is really a high lose, but it use to happen with new user most of the time only because they become careless for the safety of bitcoin if they won’t share their private key with anyone, and will buy after making high research then I don’t think this kind of news will come in front of us, but we should remain careful while buying bitcoin because people are there to hack and scam your bitcoin just stay active mate.

I have heard a few days back that the Ledger wallet was also hacked as hacker developed a sort of system that as soon as the offline wallet was brought online a typical type of virus infect it and cause the coins to transfer to some address. So nothing is Hacker free. All we have to do is to be extremely careful no matter how hard is the security.

It's a very sad thing to spend 100 Bitcoins that have been cracked. I just found out information about it.

So much money in bitcoin. That's way hardware wallet is best choice to keep your digital asset than software wallet. If you missing your file on your PC, you cant access your wallet and you will lost it. Try to buy ledger wallet or trezor to keep your wallet. It's safe and recommended.

Think on the bright side guys. Less bitcoin means much more value to it. It's better than those bitcoins getting hacked by those bankers or a huge syndicate.

This is painful losing a staggering amount of 103 BTC . Now he is giving his wallet ID for any one to try if they can open the wallet? Ok we will try. If we succeed what next.

That must be very disappointing for him but I have seen a documentary on BBC that a person lost his hard disk having 7500 Bitcoins on it. There was no way to recover it from the dumping ground because the ground is huge in size and there was no assurance that hard disc will be in the perfect situation even if the person is trying all the efforts to find that hard disk. After all, Crypto is all about self-responsibility and anyone is responsible for his own actions.
