Before I started investing, I studied everything in detail, read various websites and selected tested projects.

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

For me, that is a very pity move because if you compared the bitcoin's value now, you would see that you lose a massive amount of money. But back at that year bitcoin's amount is not very expensive that's why he/she don't really focus on bitcoin, I think on that year bitcoin's cost is plummeting too much. Also, there so many people forget there wallet data file or their private keys too because they think that bitcoin will not reach even $1,000. But don’t overthink I know that you're just a person move on, sometimes shits happen.  Smiley

An extremely unfortunate person, 103 bitcoin values very nearly 900K USD. It is incredibly tragic to envision that losing the 103 Bitcoin. When you track the record of this 166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL you can see that last exchange is last 2012, and each transaction a minimum one bitcoin and the most maximum I saw is 12 bitcoins. I trust you can recuperate the half of the lost bitcoins.

It was more than $2mill few months ago LOL
No unfortunately not, you cannot reccuperate even one single bitcoin, how in the world you can get the half back?
Just learn from the mistake and do not live in regret, it will be lost forever

That's a total disaster because he can't recover his wallet's .dat file. Maybe he's not so interested in bitcoin before and has given less focus to bitcoin without knowing that bitcoin will be the future gold of today.

He must be really gutted to have lost such a huge amount of money but I am wondering if he has access to the wallet and is not able to access his wallet or whether he doesn’t even know where the hardware is but I always think that it’s important to have an online wallet where you can secure it to the highest level.

It's sad. especially now how much it costs. So this is a lesson for you in the future. do not lose anything that would not have happened like this. better make copies.

The bad thing about bitcoins is that if it is lost, it can never be recovered.  Sad

This's all, the effects of human negligence itself anyone cannot be separated from it including the slightest thing.

A lot of users are in that situation, where they either forgot the password or the wallet seed or simply do not know where you have taken the back up of the wallet and in my opinion around a million bitcoin are lost forever and the majority of the coins are from the beginnning as it was easy to mine the coins. It is not possible to get those coins and no one can help you in recovering those.

That is right, there are definitely going to be victims like this in every revolutionary invention like that of bitcoin  and the blockchain since many will doubt from the start whiles the few will stay with it and profit later as the technology evolves and so he's not alone as there are several others that have lost bigger amounts of bitcoin and it's a lesson for us all.

You are right if he wants, maybe he will be given a chance to be more successful than ever. Unfortunately, the amount of btc he got may not be what it used to be because the number of bitcoins is getting lower and lower.

I am very sad to hear that, a guy is lost 103 Bitcoins because his DAT files was lost. According to me, if he stores these files on some other USB drives and also stores it on paper wallet, then he does not worried about lost bitcoins. Because he could get back his Bitcoins again by these storage device.
This thing tells us that we should keep all our wallet keys at safer place.
Although i wish them good luck that he recovers these particular file, but i think this is impossible thing.

sorry for many!))) but who knew in 2011 that bitcoin would cost so much money?!! now of course it's a shame, and with such growth and increase in capitalization, I think soon it will be even sadder!))) since in a few years it will be a fortune! and of course you need to be safe always, and there are many ways!

This is a story that deserves attention. But not worth to think about what not return. You just need to think about the future and learn more about the technology of where you invest. Wink

Crypto still can't account for human error..I myself lost some bitcoin on anonymous exchange because I forgot to back up my password. I think most of have made a mistake that has costed us money, just not to the extent of 103 bitcoins.

To our understanding, these 'lost' coins are part of the original plan for bitcoin. Part of the scarcity built into the system, the "diminishing supply", is due to the fact that user error will render some percentage of coins unable to be used. Effectively, they will be removed from the economy, but only for a time. These coins will be retrievable in the age of quantum computing, where these older wallets will be subject to penetration.
