WOW this is very sad, I bet that person now must be kicking himself, unless he mine a sh8t ton more Bitcoin and made a killing anyway. I am curious though to know how many Bitcoins have been lost over time. Is there like a place we could look to see where they are and how many? I wouldn't mind checking it out, not that I could do anything about it lol.  Grin

This guy has lost 103 bitcoins he mined back in 2011 and then lost his wallet dat file similar to what I have done but wow this guy must be gutted the amount of money he has lost compared to me

His Address    166BuLPWHUjqoqiYp5rGE3B5r5AmqgHpoL    Final Balance   103.20832384 BTC

So many people have the same problem and I wonder just how much Bitcoin is stuck not being able to be used Sad

He says "I used to mine Bitcoin back in 2011 and I lost my wallet.dat file (through several stupid moves on my part). It's got approx 103 BTC in it, anyone is welcome to it, I've given up trying."

I think you should need to accept the situation because we all know that bitcoin is risky anyone can hack our private keys so becareful by clicking some sites that can phish your private keys and use a offline storage or save it into a a trusted wallet.

it is very difficult to return our assets, if we lose files or documents about our digital wallet. very unfortunate if we have worked hard but the result is lost because of our own negligence. you should have a backup document of all your assets. so it will remain safe if you forget or the file is missing.

That is disappointing in his part. Losing that amount which you worked hard for how many years is really not a good news. Maybe, the account is not well protected. This would be a big lesson to anyone of us. To make our accounts really.
For you bro, dont lose hope, you can still start investing in bitcoin. Anyway bitcoin is still here.

It reminded me of a story...8 years ago, a dude bought a pizza for 10,000 bitcoins. Now in honor of him celebrate the holiday. If you have not heard about Pizza Day, then you do not know a damn thing about the strange holidays. Every may 22, crypto enthusiasts buy pizza and remember one of the wildest stories in the community.

What the point.
Exactly 8 years ago, a dude named Lazo Heinz decided to have dinner. He did not have any Fiat money, but bitcoin was lying on the computer. He paid 10K bitcoins, then it was a mere penny – $25. At the current rate it is more than $ 83 million ... at the rate of December last year - even scary to imagine.
 Tongue
What does she teach us about this story? Don't sweat and don't jump ahead of time! Today's several hundred dollars in a few years can turn into a country house, a cool car, a trip around the world or a wedding on the Islands of their advertising bounty. Patient wins in cryptocurrencies.

That's a huge loss of bitcoin amount. We must keep our wallet safe no matter what because of this kind of thing. Beside that there are many scammer out there including hackers that can get your wallet data such as the private key.

He didn't expect that the Bitcoin will hit the jackpot at that time. Earlier then bitcoin is like any other altcoins, doesn't have so much value. But now, his feeling might be hurt for not taking care of his own investment.

That is so terrible. But sometimes we need to experience these things so that we would be moulded into a better person. 103BTC's is undoubtedly a huge amount today. But it's better to move on and start over rather that drowning ourselves in the mistakes of the past. Learn and move forward!

Oh my God, What a tremendous amount of money to lose, it's so crazy that you have lost what you invest since 2011. You are so unlucky. I hope you get your lesson, double secured always your wallet.

That was a big lose from your hope. It was big amount with big properties if that wasn't lost. Maybe the good things now is don't blame yourself for your bitcoin lose because blaming yourself won't help you. Maybe try and try to mine more and more again in more time but you should be patient in all times.

I thought my lose was bad. I have a few Dash in a wallet on a hard drive. But, I recorded the password, or though, "I'll remember that". Well I cant find the password, and cannot transfer the Dash out. I tried password guessing for a while, then sent my mining machine on it to do a brute force on the wallet. No luck. Every once in a while, I open the wallet and try new combinations of what it could have been. Really sucks. Especially when Dash hit it's high 5-6 months back. Oh well. I feel bad for this person. But, these are all good learning lessons. Practice good backups and record your passwords somewhere safe. I have two copies of all my new accounts and passwords now.

He doesn't believed that Bitcoin price will have a great price that's why he don't back up his file and think that it is just a waste of time. We all have done mistakes in the past and just use that experience to be more careful and be a better person in the future.

Well, this is what I call tough luck! And his lost happened due to his negligence which he openly admitted. 103 Bitcoins is a lot of money today! I'm pretty sure the famous question "what if" used to haunt him (unless he has other wallets that has more BTC's in them). Lesson for him and also for us to be more careful and vigilant so not to experience the same lost.

I think there has been a lot of reports of people losing bitcoin. During its early days bitcoin has a very low value so people oftentimes just neglect it or forget about it. If I was on that persons situation I would go insane. Imagine 103 bitcoins man that is quite a lot. I could be swimming with my money now.

That must suck and I feel bad about him. It's not a good experience to have that in life. Just think of the investment he has put into it only for him to lose. Remember that bitcoin is getting the respect it needs and it's a bad timing to experience that. All that he can do is just hope for the best so he could come back.

Because of the anonymity, we can not rely on a particular unit to retrieve information. That's the limitation of bitcoin
