I have spoke with PressTab and I am happy to report we will be getting the HBN setup there. We collected ~$100 worth of BTC over the last few weeks. Thanks so much guys! I will cover the rest and we should be good for a year.

Regarding the exchanges here are my plans. I am testing out Cryptopia right now. I have put some decent sized blocks for sale on the site for both HBN and CAPs, anything that is sold at least 1/2 will go towards the buy side and the other 1/2 will be used for explorer and/or other exchanges.

I will be collecting another bounty in both HBN and CAPs to see if that will help get the wheels moving for another site. I'll let you know when that happens.

For now I encourage you to try out Cryptopia, just keep the amounts small enough that if you loose it, you won't be too upset.

Thanks all.

I give my vote to Cryptopia.  They're systems work... for now.  That's all we can ask for at this stage in the game.

Thanks for the info...Cryptopia works OK IMO. Any issues simply stem from the illiquidity of the markets there.

Another alternative exchange is always a good objective.

I really like block explorer from presstab he is a proffesional of it, i think is really important to have a good block explorer, but if we can not het the money we could too pay 12 bucks buy a  aruba.cloud cheap vps and install a iquidus explorer meanwhile

Just an FYI. I did in fact recieve payment and am trying to get the HBN explorer up asap. As we all know, HBN has an enormous block chain and this will take a little while to sync up (CAP took 2+ days). I am hoping I can get the bootstrap to work a bit quicker. Will keep everyone updated here on the thread.

I made a fork with some alleged improvement like the flying dolorean fix and database upgrade, and I managed to compile it somewhat

Question for someone who has the knowledge on POS / POW.

What happens when the hashing becomes so low on POW that POS is the only thing securing the coins? Is this a likely event? How secure would the system be then? Can the coin survive solely on POS in a secure manner?

IMO, PoS alone will secure a coin as long as enough coins are being staked.

Rat4 of blackcoin had a discussion about it and even showed a successful attack against Mint , (when their PoW was low.)
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=551861.0

His recommendation was going PoS only and dropping the PoW when the PoW gets too low.
Basically the reason ZEIT & MINT dropped PoW and went PoS only was his findings, as in the beginning they were both hybrid like HBN.

However neither ZEIT or MINT use a Checkpoint Server.
HBN does use a checkpoint server, so it may block some or all of those potential problems from a low PoW hash rate, Tranz would have the most knowledge on that.

 Cool

FYI:
Here is some additional info for you from
https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/9592-hbn-trouble-shooting-guide-syncing-and-checkpoints/
_____________________________________________________________________________
What are checkpoints?

Checkpoints are blocks in the chain where all clients agree are correct. These points allow for additional security in the event of some type of attack, or coding malfunction.  Where clients are in disagreement about the correct height of the chain.

There are two types of checkpoints. Hard coded and sync checkpoints. Hard coded checkpoints are put in the source code manually, generally done with major revisions.  Sync Checkpoints are issued from a dedicated server at fixed or manual intervals.

Will HBN always use sync checkpoints?

For the foreseeable future HBN will use checkpoints. This is very helpful while the network is still young. As the hash rates increases and more nodes are connected and staking, checkpoints can be lowered or eventually removed.

This does add some centralization to the network, but the trade off for security is worth it.

Yes a coin can survive just on PoS. It can be secure, depending on how much coin weight the network has. I still have no plans to remove PoW. Will reevaluate as time goes on.

This is quite the chain to sync Wink about two days into a bootstrap and this is the point I am at.

Code:
2015-12-31 16:39:40 SetBestChain: new best=000000001177602793f9 height=825035 trust=2681407801430 $
2015-12-31 16:39:40 ProcessBlock: ACCEPTED
2015-12-31 16:39:41 SetBestChain: new best=195de8bf2cc702f889a5 height=825036 trust=2681424578902 $
2015-12-31 16:39:41 ProcessBlock: ACCEPTED

So don't think I am forgetting about HBN! Just waiting patiently for the daemon to bootstrap!

yes I am going to update the home page and wiki. I have done the OP of here and CCT.  Was waiting for PT to finalize the block explorer and do them both together.

Appreciate the response kiklo and tranz. Was not suggesting we remove it, was just curious. I noticed low CAPS hashrate and was hoping it wouldn't matter too much.

Does anyone have the approximate best height of HBN? I was under the impression that it is currently 2m+ blocks correct? Still have a server dedicated to HBN only bootstrapping nonstop trying to catch up. right now it is around 1.4m blocks in. I am assuming it is taking long because HBN uses scrypt which is a bit harder to hash than some of the other algos.
