Media is a paid professions and most of the time are used on occasion of spreading lies for dollars in a bank.. Most of the time this works, though I must say that it isn't applicable most of the time as exiting a certain position is entirely subjective, as to what a user above stated.

Usually the best time to exit is when everyone is rejoicing and are highly optimistic that the coin will continue to rise even with a recent unsustainable growth. It's okay to lose a couple % of gains rather to lose it due to being greedy. Well i guess its the same with many traders. Rumors for example, of forks, coinsburns, exchange listings, these are good times to.accumulate coins. Then have a realistic figure of when to sell and place an order. Fomo is one of the biggest mistake many commit since you may enter at the the peak of a pump and it will take a long time to recover or you sell at a loss.

News regarding partnership, roadmap, new wallet etc lies under not a big update mostly but they are strong enough to create a bull run before the actual announcement..

News isn't too reliable now even Technical analysis sometimes is not very useful. That rumors buy and sell is not the exit point. What i do is to based on the news before i exit and by TA. to confirmed but when it goes wrong i am just leaving it ang pick another coin

You should set some target limits for your profit but that target should be reasonable to achieve not like 100% or few 100% growth. If you're more greedy then you may not make a profit from your trades.

This way of trading is very dangerous. You should put some limit on your losses not that you need to wait until you lose a lot of money from a single trade. I usually set around 10% loss for my every trade to exit.

This is the first we need to do when we will trade, we need to set our targets in our coins. If we think that we are profitable enough then we should exit the game. Do not wait until the price going down because probably, you may trap to the price and will cause for us to hold our coins again.

In addition to what you've said, the problem for traders is that they didnt know how or when to exit. Rumors and news are the sign to exit. It works for me.

Yup, specially when greed sets it. That's why it really good if you have that kind of exit strategy. So that if you have reach it, you need to get out to avoid risk of getting burn at the end.

However, when you "hope" that you can get squeeze a bit more of profit, you tend to forget your exit strategy and soon you will realized it when your coins suddenly plummeted. So instead of you gaining, you ended up on the losing end or your profit was not maximized.

I’ve reached the point of holding rather than trading. The main reason is that the new tax laws in the US for 2018 are requiring us to not only track every trade, but to claim capital gains for every trade even if it’s from one cryptocurrency to another. This means that most of my trades will be subject to short term capital gains. It’s just not worth it so I am just holding mostly for now.
