The best results are tuning each die for low HW error.
Goal of <2% HW per die (under 1% for happy die)
<broken record> You need bfgminer to find this info!

I set the voltages in Advanced Tuning to default.
I bump the SPI clock up to 256k.
I do this before I run the custom start script.
I ignore Volts & Amps and just look at Watt.
(I plan to return to volt testing for the slow die later)

The following example would lower die 0 on module 0 and the rest remain stock.

I second that.  I'm getting between 575 and 625 on my day 1 shipment miner (which arrived on day 5) .  The Beaglebone board went south on mine the second week I had it and I lost 2 weeks due to incompetence by KNC.  This is truly amazing and I thank you so very much for sharing the info.  Still wish I had my 2 weeks back when the difficulty was still 86,933,018, but this takes a little pain away from the wound and I salute you for it.  Curious if any of you guys bit on the new miner?  If so I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish.  I didn't bite on that one myself after getting burned the first time... but will be watching.  Many thanks!

Just want to share that my 8 VRM miner is still alive though it's not quite getting to 600 with 1F1. The disabled VRMs don't come up with this. I think it would be an advantage to figure out how to turn all 8 and get a Novemberish design. Was there any reason apart from a VRM shortage why they couldn't turn on all 8? I saw someone say there was a problem with them working in pairs???

I've set to 432, I gave a little more voltage. On the picture you can see there is a die with about 48 watt. Maybe this is a weaker die beacuse it turned off-on, so I gave it a little more voltage, it remained turned on, but the vrm went to fault. I had to played with the voltages a bit but now it's fine.

But I saw only 850 at pool. (If anybody have ideas what cause this help would be appriciated). So I've started to play with the SPI, so now the HW is getting worse and worse (I forgot to write down the SPI with I had low HW). So i'm not so happy now....

Anyone able to get 8-VRM modules to work with this? I have a mix of 4-VRM and 8-VRM modules and the overclock settings only appear to affect the 4-VRM units.

lol! It's not the first time I fall briefly for your 6 boards but it usually last only a couple of seconds of bewilderment.

No ideas except: what about the old hotter is better trick? A lot riskier playing with this but... I do see you have boards at 39 C (boards not asic, remember, so it's risky). Though I guess all the "hot"  trick did before was to slightly change the VRM parameters in the first place...

r1etc: yes, I am running a full 8 VRM jupiter, 597.4 avg (the upper left "(avg)") at cgminer with 1F1. Amps as previous post. Temps 38 to 54. Four of the VRMs per board remain off (as, I guess, one should expect...).

from us early batch users, we saw that the 4 VRM build doesn't have any hardware protection for overvoltage/current while the 8VRM boards did.  That is why when they switched from 8 to 4, the boards with 4 VRMs shot up since they didn't have to bother with firmware protecting it.  Later they finally changed it to limit it.

I probably don't have the exact facts (since their spokesperson kept avoiding the issue as moot) but that is the jist of it.
Some say that the very first 8 VRM machines did run higher with .90 firmware but they had trouble getting it back that way once they switched.  Even when going back to .90.

tl;dr  so who knows..  the 8 VRM boards just have more protections on voltage/current

I guess no one has input into how harmful OCing a Jupiter would be?
I haven't even began to tinker with my Jupiter, I am quite content @ 590GH/s.
How high can I push this thing though?  It doesn't seem to be extraordinarily hot.

Hmm.. So I wonder if flashing the Beaglebone with the recovery image would make any difference?  I guess it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

Edit

I see the the firmware is actually 0.96 if you flash it.  But there is an iso file in there called U-Boot.iso that I wonder if I can rebuild to use 0.90 instead of 0.96 so that it never sees the later image?

You have to modify the COPY of the cgminer.sh to start bfgminer instead.

You might could start a modified cgminer.sh, stop it and use
"./bfgminer -S knc:auto -c /config/cgminer.conf"

First of all there is a little cheating. I have six boards. Smiley

I've set to 432, I gave a little more voltage. On the picture you can see there is a die with about 48 watt. Maybe this is a weaker die beacuse it turned off-on, so I gave it a little more voltage, it remained turned on, but the vrm went to fault. I had to played with the voltages a bit but now it's fine.

But I saw only 850 at pool. (If anybody have ideas what cause this help would be appriciated). So I've started to play with the SPI, so now the HW is getting worse and worse (I forgot to write down the SPI with I had low HW). So i'm not so happy now....


lol! It's not the first time I fall briefly for your 6 boards but it usually last only a couple of seconds of bewilderment.

No ideas except: what about the old hotter is better trick? A lot riskier playing with this but... I do see you have boards at 39 C (boards not asic, remember, so it's risky). Though I guess all the "hot"  trick did before was to slightly change the VRM parameters in the first place...

r1etc: yes, I am running a full 8 VRM jupiter, 597.4 avg (the upper left "(avg)") at cgminer with 1F1. Amps as previous post. Temps 38 to 54. Four of the VRMs per board remain off (as, I guess, one should expect...).

You stated earlier you were changing the SPI. I guess that's the general one stated as SPI in the upper left (even if they're all "SPI"). I find that changing the voltages seems to work better core by core even if you do small changes and even if it is the same change to all the cores.

Temp may have just been the old way of increasing the amps.

Currently sitting on SPI 512000Hz.

You can figure out the voltages die by die but I didn't had enough time for that. I've just give a bit more for all dies. (from cpu tuning, more clock needs some more voltage). I had one die wich turned on-off repeatly. For this one I had to give much more voltage but now it pulls 55amp and 48w.

All my asic runs with 432 except the weaker one, it's runs with 1f1. Now I got 965 at cgminer and between 980-990 at pool.

At the weekend I'll install Bfgminer and try to figure out core by core.

I've asked Wen, if he could give a table with clock settings would be great cause I move in the dark right now. For example I don't know 432 is what clock but it works good.
