Voting on Mintpal is cool, but don't forget to vote on Cryptsy too - now at 1002 votes Smiley

Gridcoin deserves at least Primecoin's market cap but we need exchanges for that to happen!

Sorry guys, we need to de-list gridcoin. We're running version 2000500 and cannot for the life of us get any connections. We've been trying for WEEKS, and no nodes we add work. Not sure if it's because we compiled from the git, or the nodes, or some weird thing that your wallet needs, but it's totally DOA.

If someone manages to get a compiled, working, connected version going under linux, please email me directly, but for now... it's been dead for a month. We can't connect.

Hi,

you do know that you need the special version from the Rob(the dev) himself and that the older ones aren't going to work. We've talked about this more than 2 weeks ago.
Have you tried finding out how to contact him on Github or tried the e-mail I sent you again?

Andrew.

Yeah, I've emailed three times with no response. It's not worth this headache - coins should want to be on an exchange, it shouldnt be the exchange begging the coin for special code.

Which I have a problem with anyway - being private, we have no way to verify it's safety. So even if I did hear back - thats a security issue.

I've been taking care of some issues, and responding to the gridcoin.us inbox and the cryptocointalk inbox.  I have not yet made my rounds to pick up my bitcointalk pms, I apologize if that is where you are sending these messages.

After being attacked, we had to put a system in place to prevent the problem until it is safe to make the repo 100% public.  The code is 100% public, and is on schedule to be released as public during the heartbleed release and the cpuminer release.  The point is, it currently requires your exchange to be a collaborator, or the wallet WILL NOT SYNC.  Notice, I did not suggest that you need a private version or an unsafe version.  You would be a member of the github codebase, and build the actual source.  The only thing we currently require that is different from other coins is the ability to enter an exchange key in the code.  If you are still interested in listing gridcoin, send me a PM with your github username and Ill take care of it.

Best Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob, been trying to build the block explorer for quite a while and you had mentioned to PM my github username to you a week ago.  I sent that PM.  Any chance you can send/authorize my account for the source code so I can complete the project?

Hi Crypto,

I replied later in the night that you are ready to go and sent a URL with the repository info; please let us know if you did not get it.  I also sent my alt email.
We raised the 20,000 GRC for the BX, and we are ready to pay.
Please let me know if the PMs aren't going through Smiley

My wallet is trying to upgrade itself, but it keeps failing at step "Upgrading file testnet", something to do with a webclient exception. Anyone knows if this can be fixed without redownloading the wallet and blockchain?
Thanks.

Just came back to GRC after a week or so. Downloaded the latest client yesterday, 2.1.1.4. It immediately corrupted my wallet.

I tried to rebuild the block-chain, but I was never able to sync (no block source available) for a whole day.

I have been using the following addnode, anything I am missing here.

addnode=137.116.167.42
addnode=137.116.167.52
addnode=191.238.60.17
addnode=191.238.51.28
addnode=191.235.137.239
addnode=191.235.138.12
addnode=23.97.147.78
addnode=23.97.148.49
addnode=138.91.246.228

I see the problem; we just added autoupgrade to testnet, and the subdirectory caused a problem in prod.

I disabled autoupgrade in testnet until we can solve it for them using another method.

In the mean time, I fixed the problem in prod.

You can now 'upgrade' to bring your client back to where it was before the problem occurred.

If you have any trouble, do this:
c:\program files (x86)\gridcoin\grcrestarter.exe upgrade

Thanks.

Rob

That might be caused by me being a noob, but I ran "c:\program files (x86)\gridcoin\grcrestarter.exe upgrade" and still had the same issue.
Thanks for your quick reply though.

The testnet folder is no longer on the mirror; so it should not be possible.

Verified.  Upgrade works again.

It seems Rob has updated the gridcoin.us back to 2.1.0.7. I downloaded it and was able to sync.

However, I kept getting "wallet.dat corrupt, salvage failed" errors.

I tried all my backup wallets and all with the same error.

Also tried "gridcoin_qt -salvagewallet -rescan -reindex" with no luck.

Anybody has better idea on how to recover the wallet.

I was running 2.1.0.4 earlier. Could that be a problem?

Does anybody have the 2.1.0.4 version so that I could try whether I can recover the wallet?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to rebulit the bolck chain?
You can delete the files in "C:\Users\your PC user name\AppData\Roaming\Gridcoin" ,only  leave gridcoin.conf  and wallet.dat.Then run the wallet software  Run as Administrator,the wallet software will restat and update.WHen the update done,it will download the blocks chain.

Hope it works. Smiley
