There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

The whole idea behind group buys and group mining is putting your faith in the guys running the group buys.

The reputation of bobsag & DZ is being tarnished.

It doesn't take 2 months to write out a check  Huh

Out in the cold to the tune of precisely 0.45574319 BTC. Yeah I know not a fortune in the grand scheme of things, but it's the principle that counts. Seriously DZ et al; is it worth gaining a poor reputation for amounts such as this?

Cheers,

We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated, governments in the civilized world—no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and the duress of small groups of dominant men.

Cheers,
The whole DZ "cooperative" concept has been compromised since their organisers became profit motivated reseller for BA. I certainly would not go with them again whilst the current structure endures (And I used to be a huge fan).

Update 5/7/2014

Black Arrow has reported the Minion chips latest tests have been operating at 120GH/s using 150w, they are still tweaking the chips and more updates should come soon.

Based on quick calculations each R17 share should equal apx 48gh/s based on the chips current tests, prior to the compensation.

Update 5/9/2014

1. The Minion has arrived.
a. Has been tested at 120Ghash. The power measured at the wall was 150Watt. This includes the 8% loss of the PSU and currently 20% on the DC/DC converter. This translates on 0.92W/Ghash at the chip level. We have asked the ASIC designers to come to our office to study how to further improve the power efficiency.
b. The expected loss on the DC/DC should be around 10%. We have identified that part of the power used is lost by the inductor. A new customised inductor is scheduled to arrive in one week.
b. We decided to write a software application which will produce a full report to include details on voltage, speed and efficiency at all ranges. Estimated time to completion is up to 3 weeks but this additional feature will not affect the shipping schedule.
c. We believe that further overclocking is available, further tests are scheduled after we complete the assembly of the 200A board tomorrow.
2. All Minion orders have been shipped today.
3. Most of the X3 and X1 PSUs have been delivered are now in stock.
4. The majority of the heatsinks have been manufactured.
5. The first lot of X3 cases has been received. (Aluminium alloy)
6. The control board assembly has just been completed. This is behind schedule and we are not confident at this stage that we can write the LCD driver in useful time for first shipments. If this is the case we will release firmware updates to enable the LCD functionality.
7. The first batch of LCDs was delayed 1 day and is now due to arrive tomorrow.
8. Unfortunately we have been told that the X1 case will not be delivered in time. If the X1 miners will not be ready at the same time with our X3 miners we made a contingency plan to start hashing with our own X3 units for our X1 customers affected by this delay. Bitcoins mined on their behalf will be transferred accordingly. Full details will be announced directly to customers, therefore please do not flood our customer support with tickets regarding on how to receive Bitcoins.
9. Our main PCB assembly factory failed to initiate the assembly 2 days ago as scheduled. We were forced to switch the assembly production with another local factory which is now scheduled to start the assembly tomorrow.
10. X3s are scheduled to start shipping early next week.

So given what we know today about the hardware.  Will the a X-3 be able to pay for itself?

As has been said many many times, these are not the final specs. Its a waist of time to calc numbers using that.

worst case is always best to know. and  at those numbers roi can still be close.   they come to  1.2 watts a gh

I  factored out power cost and or hosting fees,    below I have 5 shares with boost maybe 60gh a share total 300gh cost was 650usd.

there is a possible roi with slow growth of 10% and flat btc price.  I could put 20 calcs that show roi can happen even with the power at 1.2 watts per gh..

to say roi will happen Who knows.  to say it won't happen who knows.

Says it all when the 'final specs' are not known months after the product was supposed to ship and days before they are currently saying it's shipping!

No its this is the first time they have the physical chip in their position, and testing/bring up specs do not equal the final performance. This is pretty standard in the ASIC industry.

BA Update Late 5/12/2014

We have received the SMT assembled boards.

We are now proud to announce that Black Arrow has the most power efficient Bitcoin ASIC on the market today.

A single dual chip board is hashing with absolutely no errors at 1Ghz while using 150Watt at the wall, including the PSU loss.

We have better efficiency than 0.75Watts/ghash at the wall.
