-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Release 0.5.11 http://download.nxtcrypto.org/nxt-client-0.5.11.zipsha256: 2157335852e7b5013229f5b73f5f156b1b72a116f8625fc73d4de80a0f7ffa11 Change log: Fixed performance problems in getState, getEffectiveBalance and getGuaranteedBalance. The getGuaranteedBalance calculation now uses a different algorithm and may in some cases give different results than the 0.5.10 guaranteedBalance calculation which had some bugs, so it is advisable that everyone upgrades to 0.5.11 to avoid the risk of a fork. Fixed a bug with setting the public keys of accounts that forged blocks without having any outgoing transactions. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJS6hPPAAoJEFOhyXc7+e2A4JIQAJCid4K4z+07zVSXIrNdjC+7 B/9riaqdXL6pNhbuXRFqmFazJb2LQfw2CHDxiYujqOzQr9lfYDkJSaSa8tpY1seY ZxMhzq2OcIcvp2KFuiueq25GNuWxAj/2Ctjm8Cco4SvzhXrK10JpOWgGexFN1ZHX VDGgZiNheLwqYMqcfouVtPlNAR0l1hu26pUqw3zFUfRFWxfc7lIJZmj3uBJXdLxw HSLEosCHtME7J2GL526rtpvY1PwNBJszrd6ustSRfevLY6JyAYj8yoqpbPfsc/r5 PEEQlPw0RUAWsaW+r2V7zXHKGtpyLWaI84MyHIpSZKsGZuWcDqXXDLGQxIE6sm1a /mJgewfU63mxym+LA+M+fEg57xtry+YldOrwyv8AATfANsusXX/A50gG/CHdqBDF m4nUKlWjeXfDhrwxjE2ZVnwSO7pPYrvnEkw9LxvKF4sv0LfCFKDdhNsgDfLPEQp8 mWy0WfIiraz5QDkDf1JKBJM+1tRJWwBuNY1Z4nHZwsVPO0cf6aXOg52qP63sIe98 CgR6xVn8S2xhhyUMFluJcfldQA0vMr2dNAnt9eTjUykDpS0VHNcW54RSpQZxE0Z6 WT0xSCvknUB86N7BzatZz27BtCSieC+MWn3KrQvofB6wbW9OMXuTjFTuBxMoMD1H 9fZmQKaXviyVQ8C9ci/H =plAW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Could someone teach me how to check signature/hash. Can someone answer me this:
If i forge a block, can someone else see my IP then? Or lets phrase it diffrently. I need to run a node to forge, is my account number connected to the forging IP?
Could someone please answer this?I was discussing this with a friend and we came to the conclusion that this would be a huge security concern if it is indeed so. The IPs of nodes that forged blocks are NOT recorded in the blockchain. Also, when your peers receive the block that you generated, they don't know that it was you who generated it, because your node also broadcasts blocks it received from other peers. However, an adversary who monitors all your internet traffic (your ISP) could possible deduce that it was your node that generated a block based on traffic analysis. It is possible to run Nxt over tor if you want to completely avoid that risk. To do so, assuming you have tor running on localhost at port 9050, add the following system properties to your start.d/nxt.ini file: -DsocksProxyHost=localhost -DsocksProxyPort=9050 This will force outgoing traffic to use tor as a socks proxy, but jetty will still listen on all interfaces and accept connections that didn't come over tor. If you are behind a router or firewall, this is not an issue, if not, edit the jetty configuration files (start.ini) to limit jetty.host to localhost. Also, if you are using tor, you cannot share your address with other peers that want to connect to you (because what they see is the tor exit node IP), so you should disable shareMyAddress in web.xml and not set myAddress there. It is like being behind a router without being able to set up port forwarding.

Look up Jean-Luc's pgp key via his id "FF2A19FA". Go to http://keyserver.pgp.com and search for his key. Download it. Import his key into gpg 'gpg --import Path_to_Jean_Luc's_Key' Save his message in a file. 'nano message' to open a new file and save the message. Verify the signature via gpg 'gpg --verify message' Make sure it says the signature is "GOOD". You can check the sha256 of the download by using 'sha256sum Path_to_Nxt_Client' Make sure the sha256 hash of the Nxt client you downloaded matches the sha256 hash included in Jean Luc's official message.

why not 0.6?
Because: - 0.6.0 is not stable yet - the code is pretty, but it has no new features relative to the tried and tested 0.5.x series - I want to add database persistence, which will be a major new feature, before releasing 0.6.0. I am actually done with the refactoring and plan to start working on the database persistence now. Having to wrestle with the guaranteedBalance bug and release 0.5.11 slowed me down a bit, so I expect 0.6.0 to be ready some time next week. Unless other emergencies appear.

Database? What is that dabase going to be used for? I am a bit confused, is it not all in the blockchain?

What database type will this be? It would be great if we got some kind of API call that allows us to specify SQL queries or what not..

Time is ticking. Only nine hours left till pools at NXTpool.net are open. Your rookie slot minimum contribution is far too high. The vast majority of "rookies" won't have such a high stake in this coin - should be lowered to 1000. Not only this, but i'd wager even if most rookies do have a 10k stake (646 USD), thats likely the majority of their coins of which i doubt very much they'd send to a pool that could possibly cut and run. Not worth the risk imo and it conveys the wrong message, especially as what you're essentially asking for is for them to send you their coins. The majority of people are not going to send that sort of amount to a new pool - you need to establish trust first by having a low entry fee. Also, think about calling it something other than Rookies; thats just patronizing. I'd simply just rename them different Tiers. Tier 1, 2, 3, etc. For these reasons, i wouldn't dream of sending you a penny.

Any UK Nxt holders? We need to position ourselves to get on Bittylicious to increase liquidity. The ability to purchase Nxt without Bitcoin is a big deal and one we should put some energy towards.
I was hoping somebody else would step up to the plate on this one, but since they haven't. here's my two cents, er, shillings worth. I have a UK Barclays bank account I use to fund my online poker adventures. It's a totally legal one in my own name, no funny business; I've filed the correct paperwork on it with the IRS and Department of the Treasury here in the US and even voluntarily gave up the number for it during my last security clearance interview. I go thru a proxy and look like I'm in London since the online poker sites block me otherwise coming from an American IP address block. All of these gyrations are due to the 2006 UIEGA anti-online-poker act that was passed here in America, land of the free; but I digress... Bottom line, I've got the UK bank account but I have no desire to sell any of the NXT I've accumulated. However, I understand the importance of getting NXT hooked up to Bittylicious so I'm willing to try and help. If I've got enough public trust built up here, maybe people could dump NXT they wanted to sell into one of my toy NXT accounts, Bittilocious could take it out of that account to give to a buyer, send GBP to my Barclays account, and I could send that back to the original NXT holders via Moneybookers/Skrill (I've also got accounts there, too.) This would require me to be a trusted middleman, which I'm OK with if you are. If we really want to pursue this, let me know, I'll do my part to get NXT rolling in the UK. Fantastic... way to step up! 1. It would be nice to get just a few more people willing to do the same as Ricky 2. Who could assist Ricky with the exchange? I've went through this entire process with Peercoin. If we get our ducks in a row early, it'll be a much easier sell. John CoinTropolis I've just read this, been away for a few hours I'm a UK resident and happen to have a 'spare' UK account in my name with Cahoot, but again I don't want to sell the 100k or so NXT I've gained. Don't know what is involved, if I can help I will but it can't be a 24x7 thing. I'll go and look up bittylicious anyway and go register etc. Ian

The world is rapidly drifting into a global electronic police state, where anything and everything we do is recorded, analyzed, scrutinized, etc. We used to be able to use normal cash to buy things. Now, cash transactions are prohibited for most things in america. Soon all cash will become illegal. This is normal cash. Without a crypto replacement for cash, the world will be controlled by people who know what everybody else is doing with their money.
- very well said, James! And I can see that and agree with jl777's thought, it is well said... but would a government agent who supported the NSA agree with that? Just seems to me like I could see them being unhappy about it and arguing that people who use them have criminal intent or something along those lines. Can you name some legitimate reasons you'd want some transactions to remain anonymous though? I don't know.. I guess I'm just not in such a hurry to implement it until we've been around for a while. Basically until we're big enough to be able to lobby that mixing stay legal. Though even if it isn't built in, they'll probably always be mixers around for the bigger cryptos as long as they are around for those who do want to use them. One more thing to throw in is I'm currently in the process of getting a mortgage and one question they asked was for me to trace where my Bitcoins came from and how they flowed around my accounts since they were worried about money laundering. so your solution is to do everything the NSA guys approve? is your solution also to eat what advertisments tell you? is your solution also to read and believe everything the press tells you? welcome in the police state.
