I'm not exactly sure whet there was to talk about exactly,.
getting all of the pools in cooperation for one would have been one.  in fact, someone did mention that very issue in the thread before the fork.

We were losing like 35% of network hash per day. PER DAY. Does you think catcoin would have survived another week at that rate?
if you put it that way, yes:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno%27s_paradoxes#Paradoxes_of_Motion

Hindsight is 20-20 but you guys are delusional if you think that immediate action wasn't necessary....THE. FORK. WAS. YESTERDAY.           CALM.              DOWN.

so let me put it into context: you say that there's nothing to freak out about because the fork was yesterday, and to calm down and not rush to judgement.

all i'm saying is the coin was about a week old when the first fork was attempted, and for us to calm down and discuss it, and not rush to act.

we agree that we needed to calm down, but many of us wanted to have a calm discussion BEFORE THE FORK,             NOT AFTER.

now, we all have to pick up the pieces of a clusterfuck.

Kalus, you've been complaining about the fork since the beginning. We get your stance on it, it's also done already. Even you admitted the fork was necessary. What good would have standing around talking about it done. We issued the fork made the pools and exchanges aware and executed. A small oversight was made and a 51% happen. Unfortunately, shit happens.

Dogecoin made their source available for a week (compared to just 24H for us) before the fork, and still FIFTY PERCENT of their hash didn't update their pools, daemons or nodes. Now they have a vicious fork they're unlikely to recover from.

Our pools all updated, and we did not fork (to my knowledge) because of out of date pools or nodes. Sure it wasn't perfect, but god damn it, this coin is still alive and kicking, lets continue making it the best damn altcoin out there, and stop bitching at each other about what-ifs and should-haves.

There isn't even anything wrong with CAT, the pools are working, the diff changes are working, the fundamentals are the same. The only problem right now is the drop in price.

I dont bullshit and i promise i would make you my bitch you have no idea i can be certain of that.
lol do u even lift bro
I am new to trading and learning hard lessons fast i was doing fairly well until a few days ago now im slightly down.  I by my estimations am a novice begginer who wouldnt dream of trying to tell someone how to invest at this point.  I do put in diligence and many hours in studying and trying to to get up to speed and am pretty inteligent so hopefully i can make something of it and i enjoy it anyway at least when im not loosing at mach speeds.  now i dont know for sure that i could wipe my ass with you but if im playing the odds on average person i got about a 97 percent chance so since we are all in the risk game here i have to say i like my chances.

Like that wasn't enough problem alone, it's actually never alone: low price means low mining profitability which in turn causes the network speed to drop, and the cycle might never end unless the price starts to increase.

It always gets worse before it gets better. And it might never gets better...

no worries; just don't say you'll make TheTribesman your bitch in the future and we'll let it go.  i don't care if you think you have a 97% chance with me, whatever that means??

I say again: Crypto trading ain't for pussies. It's for cats! Bye bye pussy. You won't be missed. You've already lost 2.5 BTC. Being nice, I would say hold on to your BTC... Somehow I see you losing a whole lot more with your trading strategies.
Grin

One day you're going to make a bad trade and lose a lot of money. I hope people treat you with a little more respect than you treat others, because nobody's going to sympathise with a lowlife who takes pleasure in other people's misery.

Of the two of you, Pussy seems richer to me.

No amount of money is going to stop you from being a dick.

Off for the night now, just popped in after seeing seeing Tribesman acting like a petulant child who just won a musical chairs contest. Pathetic.

I've taken many losses trading cryptos, and I've also made many gains. What I didn't do was go to the coin thread and start cussing when I took on a loss. They were MY decisions. I learned to live with them.

I'm only a dick to those who make me take off my trousers.

And pussy, I DOUBT you'd make a sound if you saw me in person, so shhh...

I dont bullshit and i promise i would make you my bitch you have no idea i can be certain of that.  You are db and I would love the opportunity to discuss trading statagies with you in person

I wonder if middlecoin (and similar multipools) keeps track of this coin right now (with the right wallet) and how this will affect the price.

personally i would like to see this coin succeed i am not a major holder i hold less than 2k coins many of which are being applied to real world promotions.
i've been here since the beginning. i didn't want the fork i felt it was feeding in to a sort of extortion from the miners. i sat in the same pool the whole time i mined through the difficulty 172 i wasn't bitching this isn't profitable. anybody who believed in this coin wouldn't have cared that it was profitable today. i know of people behind the scenes that have been making things run trying to keep things in balance that the way the fork was done completely undermined their efforts. this all being beside the point.
now as i watch the panic sells pissing matches and whining fits of butt hurt sell offs, i can only say if you believe in the coin hold onto it. i'm not selling. i'm working.
i have ideas to spread the word to get it out to the world canvas the community where you live flyers paper wallets. find shops that are open to the idea of crypto. and for those that don't know and are new explain teach broaden their perception.
our coin has the potential to be one of the strongest on the board.

Seeing Catcoin at the top of the profitability charts does not make me happy. It just means miner-dumpers are going to show up in droves, and drive the difficulty off the charts the next round. Instead of settling at a reasonable difficulty, we get an oscillation between too much and too little difficulty. And it does not average out for the loyal miner.

I'm out.
It has been fun but a good coin need a good community and a good developer. We have a small great community but we have no developer.
He didn't bother to post promoting the coin, he didn't bother to post a few lines during the fork drama.. he was not on pool operators irc conference.. He is not here at all.

I sincerly wish you all good good luck and many happy trades for 2014!

Why has everybody got such a fixation of the Dev? We're the most active community of all the alts currently, fairly significantly too it seems.. We came together as a community to save this coin, the dev implemented the changes. What more do you want from him? What more do we need from him that we can't do ourselves.

Userpacman, are you NyanCat on IRC?

Difficulty is now 98.4540269.

How the hell did that happen? None of the pools have that much hashrate, yet the estimated hashrate according to catcoins.biz/charts is over 2GH/s.

What the flying fuck is going on?

Middlecoin hit us, I'm pretty sure. That pool needs to fuck off, it's gonna kill more than a few coins in their current state.

Edit: Hashcows hit us. From nearmiss directly:

(12:27:45 AM) Maverickthenoob: as a favor, don't hit catcoin for a few days
(12:27:56 AM) Maverickthenoob: you're causing crazy diff oscilations
(12:31:08 AM) nearmiss: will do, I'll turn it off for min. 3 days, let me know how things look then
(12:31:15 AM) Maverickthenoob: thanks man
(12:31:19 AM) Maverickthenoob: I really appreciate that

Man it was Middlecoin that put us in that terrible position before the fork.

Those saying that Catcoin needed some kind of anti-switchpool protection were spot on. Too bad another fork now to implement that is out of the question.
