Tests of new PoS wallet are in progress - Noblecoin is still PoW coin though
Update 2015-02-08: about 48h of tests have passed - we are at block 1514 - no major issues so far - 83% of last 1000 were created using PoS. this is slightly higher than ideal 80% but nothing to be concerned about. so both PoW and PoS are working fine. - good news is PoS difficulty went up distinctly from 0.0017 10h ago to 0.0866 now. This means our test network is becoming stronger. - documentation is becoming better as various people hit edge cases and this is being documented. I'm still looking for more feedback on docs so if something is not right, not clear or can be improved please let me know.

No, we are just testing the new PoS wallet. But Noblecoin is still using PoW.

Just sent you play money on our test PoS network. Please take a look at docs https://github.com/eagleflies/noblecoin/wiki and check how PoS works etc. Thanks!

Is this the reason for the huge buy support

It seems to be propped up by some people who think that the coin supply is going to be cut off soon, but I can't find anything in here to support that idea. Am I missing something? Tests of new PoS wallet are in progress - Noblecoin is still PoW coin though

I know this question has been asked a million times, but do you have an eta on POS? I only ask now, because it sounds like we are getting close.

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953

- I will consider speeding PoW blocks generation up in the future since it took 10 hours to distribute coins on new blockchain. This does not seem right.
hm, not sure of this you meant 10 hours is too long? I'd assume this is regarding the premine which can be done before releasing the formal code; though it takes time (only at the beginning I'd say), the block chain will be more secure. Yes, this is an option. Another one could be to make PoW blocks being mined more often at the very beginning and then slower after some time. This will be a perfect solution to me. Here is a mac os wallet I just compiled if anyone using mac wants to do the test. http://coinmagi.org/files/Noblecoin/Noblecoin-Qt.dmg

Since things are looking fine on the tech side, I guess it's time to worry about the non-tech side: - make sure all exchange operators can be reached, and get an advance notice
- make a list of all other services that should be notified
- finalize a date & block height for the switch
- communicate that date & block height to all

Will funds on the old Noblecoin network be fine, even if they're held on an exchange, once the transfer to POS 2.0 is complete?
They will be. Exchanges are also an user, just big one. Then need to perform wallet's upgrade as other users.

Update on PoS wallet testing 2015-02-09- about 75 hours passed on test blockchain - we are at block 2754 now - everything works fine so far - PoS difficulty reached 1 right at the time of writing this!! so on our test network we reached about 1/11th of difficulty of Hyperstake which is an established PoS currency - PoW diff stays at 0.0018 which is low. You can join with even slow computers and be able to mine a block from time to time - I have been running tests with 3 wallets each holding 10 mil coins for 30+ hours so far. Was trying to check if 2 mil transaction size is indeed best to start with. So far the results confirm that. The wallet which started with 2+2+2+2+2 has earned more than second wallet which started with 10 x 1 mil and more than third wallet which started with 3+3+3+1 - supply side - after 75 hours on test blockchain just 616728 coins were added as effect of PoS + PoW. this is tiny in comparison with more than 21 mil which were added on real PoW blockchain. the ratio is at 1/34 as of now. I think this is awesome. The plan for test blockchain is to keep it running past block 7000 as at height of 7000 PoW mining should switch off. I want to see how this affects the network. If everything goes as planned we will know code is stable. We have couple more days to go so it still makes sense to join test efforts. After you join feel free to provide your address on test network and we can send you some funds there. This is still tentative date as things may be delayed if we hit any issues. But I will try to make an effort to do it in February.

would be good to have access to twitter account by that day. I think Rofo will support us with that. I will spread the word via my blog. so we have a solid page that covers the news. 9 BTC order on Bittrex at 8 sat. Cryptsy has a 10 BTC order at 8 sat also. Interesting...

Now most of it is at 9 and 10 sats is already filling up fast. Not pretending to understand it, just like to see things move and be lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

This coin has a total marketcap of $45,000usd.... Right now that puts it on coinmarkcap around 145th total.... Lotta similarity between this coin and the run digibyte just made... I believe this coin with a committed dev and community who have put in over a year here this coin the marketcap doesn't really reflect it... So even if we hit 20satoshi that is still $90,000usd which is still very highly undervalued

I see some people taking profits now, hope that doesn't turn into panic dumping. Still way up over a little while ago, this new floor is looking reliable.
When does the coin swap program start?
