For those of you that haven't heard yet, Feathercoin is changing its PoW in about 2 days.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=821738.40
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.1720

At block 432000 FTC will do what we are hoping to do one day (end of November). In other words, we will be able to see for ourselves what happens when such a huge and widely distributed coin decides to change PoW.

Will somebody try to take advantage of the algo change and perform a 51% attack?
Will the price rise in the days that follow?
Will FTC earn the respect of the community for doing what LTC refused to do?

Well, we are about to find all of that out, aren't we?

I'm so excited... I just... can't hide it

go home

kimera, i think cnerd doesn't want to promote feathercoin here. Instead he wants to show us what might happen with the coins value when algo changes. O posts and telling other people to go home is offensive. Even if i don't like feathercoin i find his post quite interesting.

i never owned or mined any vertcoins
but can't understand how the price drop from over a dollar to 5 cents...
doesn't give much confident in mining any crypto currency

not hashing, folding and curing (check FLDC merged-folding! reuse good GPUs)

The big problem of VTC is the inflation, a lot of coins mined and not enough buy support. When it'll get more widely accepted and less dumped, the price will rise. Most coins have this problem.

You have 2 options when you look at mining, short term or mid/long term.
For the short term, you look for most profitable coin (be ready to switch each day)
For the mid/long term, you look for active devs, coins with good features and a strong community. You point your rigs towards the network and hold to the coins you get. Working to increase the value of those coins can help a lot.

How do you want to call the number of coins mined and sold/bought on the market?

Poramin,
how are you? I've read you had some real-life issues. Will you be able to devote major effort to VTC now?

Kinda related to previous post, do you think it would help speed development if we set up a bounty for lyra2 implementation and gpu miner? I'd be happy to throw in few hundred vtc, and I know quite a few people here have expressed interest in supporting the development with vtc/btc funds.

Regarding Lyra2, it is something that won't take so long for implementing according to my estimation because we already have code from Lyra2 creator. According to my plan, I will implement it after DEMO conference. I will try to complete it before the end of November, but it will focus only on Vertcoin core wallet. To GPU miners, I need someone who can implement it and I can provide the code. You can PM me for discussing.

Regarding Open Source Stealth Address, I don't think it is a major issue now, whether open it now or later, it won't impact on Vertcoin. May be it will open after releasing Lyra2. But one thing for sure is SX will open source but it's matter of time.

Thanks for the update, Bushido.
Can I also ask a question.
Except you, who else is still working on Vertcoin? During your "Hashers United" talk you mentioned "several people from different continents". At the site it says that Boris and Alan are active developers, but I haven't heard anything from/about them in quite a while, soo, whats up?
