I appreciate there are still some people here but it would still be nice to hear confirmation that devs are still working on the new algo. We haven't heard from anyone in over a month. I'd think at LEAST a monthly update is the minimum we could ask for. It's kind of ridiculous the devs don't interact with the community imo.

A BIG +

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

If there's any niche that still needs to be filled in cryptoland, it's a coin that will remain permanently GPU mineable. Even if that means yearly updating of the algo. Devs could just spend their time always tweaking and updating the algo keeping it ASIC resistant, and the community take care of the rest.

I never like Scrypt-N because it was a half-assed way of trying to make an algo ASIC resistant. The more complex the algo becomes over time, the memory it will naturally require.

But, the silence is definitely destroying any confidence I may have in the future of this coin. And if another coin comes in and tries to fills this niche before Vert does, then Vert will be forgotten. First mover always has the advantage.

Technically the first mover was litecoin, they just decided to say, "fuck it". So, vert would probably be second mover, and anyone who follows would then be at least third mover.

Most people would like an update.  BUt the devs prefer to concentrate on the demanding work of an algo change than to come into the forum. As a community member, what can we do about it?  Be patient and support Vertcoin in our own ways. November is not too long to wait for.

Everything they've promised in the past has come to pass. I have no reason to doubt them. Let them work, they will release all the news when it's ready.

I'm fine with people making their own choices. Following what they feel is right. I just don't understand the draw of talking about how bad something is. If you feel that way why not do yourself a favor and remove yourself from the situation. Again I have nothing against people selling and I'm not going to try to convince them now to. It's their own prerogative.

However if those people come to a public forum to try to vindicate their decision by trash talking or otherwise attempting to bring something down I just don't get it. If you're passionate about something or feel it's a good investment put your money and time into growing it. If you feel at some point your views have changed sell and leave. Why waste energy lingering over something you have nothing invested in.

What's the upside of actively trying to trash a coin? What does one gain by spending time on something they don't have anything invested in? Seriously it's like If I were to pick a random company or stock I have nothing invested in and went to their public forum to talk about how bad it is. WTF would I waste my time doing that?

No one is trashing a coin. Pointing out legit criticism is fair though.

Oh and im all in what would be the point of selling now for a bit of chump change when Lyra2 is just round the corner? At this point im fearless it very well may of been a bad investment on my part but thats why you dont put all your eggs in one basket... only time will tell

Definitely. Not even worth selling my coins at this price.

Interesting campaign of fear and selling on here and on the /r/vertcoin sub. Almost seems organized...

Well I'm off to buy. Buy when people are selling, sell when people are buying.

I must agree with that.
Wise post.

Got my account back! It was hacked. Sorry about it :|

would someone mind briefly explaining what is up with the price of vert coin?

I don't get it. I haven' been keeping up with this coin but I know it is a good one and it is getting relentlessly raped, why? What is being done about it?

...getting relentlessly raped...

Maybe a bit strong with the imagery there. I think it mostly has to do with people being unsure if developers are actually implementing the new algorithm that the announced, since they've been pretty much silent for one month+ now. Some people think they are, and those people are holding and/or buying, and some folks are losing faith and dumping.

Is there a logical explanation for the downward pressure, which started long before devs announced new algo?

I think the downward pressure started when a lot of other coins, bitcoin included, started trending down. Then we had a period of stabilization, similar to doge and ltc, and now while those coins are bouncing back, doge more than ltc, vert has turned down again, presumably due to lack of information/communication about upcoming (possible) changes/hardfork.

Totally agree. For instance, support the Network by mining which is the most straightforward contribution Wink Take advantage of the moment while difficulty is so low

so to keep people in VTC we need to contact devs to give updates.
It`s fine to buy some cheap VTC but people who sell their coins out of fear can ruin the coin too much. The concurrence is pretty big out there, so we need to keep the community together.

I for myself can life with no updates Wink that`s quite normal in the altcoin scene but when price gets under a certain level also the big whales might jump off the train.

So before selling all your coins try to send them a message!

guys, what pool(s) you mine VTC with ?

I haven't been mining for half a year, and can't find any alive pool neither P2Pool nor "common". I know about the list http://coin.cubeconnex.com/poollist/, but most of them are dead. I've tried several but they don't show my address in "currently mining" list.

And also, point me please where I can read about those three VTC networks (how do they work together??). I missed a lot, and can't figure things out myself Cheesy
