they are saying back in 6 to 8 hours but its almost more then a day but not back Sad

What happens to the auctions which were running when it got shut down? Do they just continue when the site comes online again?

down again? this is getting out of hand...

I need to stop keeping so much BTC there. Sad

Is there an alternative to Bitmit? If not there needs to be. Competition is always good.
BTC not in your own wallet isn't your BTC.  Online wallets don't count either unless you got private key backups.

That's why I always move any coins I earn out. Smiley So nothing to lose on the coin-side... but missing sales :<

Yeah I'm not going to be keeping any Bitcoin in the wallet for a long period of time anymore. This is terrible. I'll transfer all my coins out every day.

Current development according to their maintenance site I've seen today:

Quote
We are migrating to a new server and will be back in approx.

  • 1-8 hours
  • 1-2 hours
  • 1-3 hours
  • 1-5 hours currently

looks like a hidden code

This srsly sucks.  I'm glad I don't have anything listed there in auction format at the moment.

cryptothrift is a good alternative, also bitcoinclassfieds. There really are not very many big ones like bitmit tho.

Its unfortunate (or just flat out sucks) that Bitmit's downtime continues. I wonder if the site has experienced an influx of users thus requiring them to migrate to a different server setup. If this is the case then this is a positive thing in the big scheme of things as far as BTC goes. Perhaps when the site comes back online we will find a number of positive changes like; new features, new options & perhaps a more secure backend. Only time will tell as I have incoming funds tied up in their escrow Angry
