how much do you think the site is worth???
Hard to say. 50k USD? More liek 2k USD. Come on, no-one really used that site, exposure was so low, that when news about closing bitmit went live - this thread could not stay in a 1st page more than for 3 minutes. Sounds like you're looking to buy. $50K is pretty reasonable, I think, maybe even low. Steamgames alone probably brings in a solid $100/wk revenue, GBTC another solid chunk. It also holds the distinction of not having been the target of a devastating hack while having a relatively good GUI (which is just about impossible to find in BTC services without VC funding). It has first-mover advantage in the space, and a pretty diverse crowd of users. There are also three or four (maybe more) threads on BitMit closing, so you can't just look at this one.

Doing my part to help potential buyers evaluate the site, because I'd really like it to remain online: Btc trinkets, under the account name Isokivi has paid 0.46131743082 btc in bitmit fees this year.

Bitcoin trinkets now on my online store: btc trinkets.com <- Bitcoin Tiepins, cufflinks, lapel pins, keychains, card holders and challenge coins.

I paid more than 10x that in 6 months, most during the hot phase, when everybody likes to shop, since they spent less btc.

Wonder if maybe the input.io hack got him worried since he does keep wallets on system and all. So basically decided the risk was not worth it at least for him anymore.
If he worried about that, he could make the website automatically pay out to your own private wallets when money is recieved to it's own wallets, that way nobody risks anything. The site never holds money. Already exists at coinpost.com (which needs some work). You put in your BTC address for every item you list for sale.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

how much do you think the site is worth???
Hard to say. 50k USD? What are you basing that on? The risk and liability is huge with possible backdoors left in there. P & L is not known. And transfer has to go smooth with an owner who seems not interested in revealing a lot. I pretty much just made it up, to start the discussion.

Not sure if this is an implement feature or a bug but when sending messages I can now see the email of the other user. Personally I think this is a bug an not everyone should be able to just go and see my email.

Absolutely the most plausible explanation. Yeah, makes sense

Absolutely the most plausible explanation. Yeah, makes sense It doesnt? Lets hear your take. ebay do have a business tactic of buying the competition with an offer that can not be easily refused, and then just shutting down the competition.... (i can not name any of these "acquisitions", but i have read about them in the past) A few million to eBay is nothing, but it is a shitload to Bitmit..... Not good for consumer choice, but it is a very effective way of staying as the top dog for ebay...

Not good for consumer choice, but it is a very effective way of staying as the top dog for ebay... idk the seen is obvious but economics is all about the unseen. if ebay goes around buying up competition this creates incentive for entrepreneurs to make new businesses, in the hopes of being bought out, thus adding to consumer choice. on net the effect could be positive, negative or it could be a wash, i dont know really, just something to think about.

In any case the offer must have been so high, that he didnt even bother to check the competition.

Er….. more likely this………. 1.Current anti-fraud clampdown in HK related to bitcoin and mainland/HK companies illegally laundering money/bitcoins without correct licenses, still ongoing…… busted companies in Central/Mong Kok/Wan Chai, looks like they are combing the Island from Central outwards West to East (kwun tong is in the East) 2. CR No.: 0252031 Company Name: AUDIX HI-TECH INVESTMENT CO., LIMITED 敦吉科技投資有限公司 Company Type: Local Company Date of Incorporation: 12-MAY-1989 Address FLAT B & C 20F INFOTECH CENTRE 21 HUNG TO ROAD Kwun Tong, Hong Kong
3. CR No.: 0151773 Company Name: TOYO KUNI ELECTRONICS COMPANY LIMITED 豐國電子有限公司 Company Type: Local Company Date of Incorporation: 24-MAY-1985 Company Status: Private FLAT B & C 20F INFOTECH CENTRE 21 HUNG TO ROAD Kwun Tong, Hong Kong
4.Bitmit 企業資料 辦公地址: 香港九龙官塘鸿图道21号讯科中心B20楼F室 (Flat B 20/F, Infotech Center No.21 Hung To Road Kwun Tong, Kowloon Hong Kong)
Maybe someone just panicked, because Bitmit appears to have been trading illegally from a HK address. If anyone wants full disclosure of directors and their addresses , I can obtain it ,but I need bitcoin donation to pay government charges…. maybe there is a bigger game here that they don't want exposed….
