Side note. I have a mess load of masternodes to setup. Wondering what others here are doing. How is the price with AWS? Or digitalOcean? Anyone getting billed extra for data or other things? Basically wondering what's best experience so far. I think tantestefana locked down an aws?

Did you see my post erlyer? also on darkcoin talk. We have a VPS service provider accepting Darkcoins (also some otherones)

My point is that i don't see a long-term success sroty for darkcoin BECAUSE of the darksend feature. i can imagine a future where it will be delisted BECAUSE of it's potential for anonymous transactions, i can understand many worldwide agencies which would want to shut it down because of this, even if it's optional.

my question was what is the "sister" coin to DRK, and it was answered HIRO, which *seems* to be the next leading X11 coin, that's all i want, is a coin that uses X11 that won't melt my apartment down with the summer heat incoming. That's it.

believe it or not, i don't give a shit about the darksend feature, and you'd probably be surprized at how many people feel the same way, DRK is in a bubble right now because of X11, not darksend. X11 is what everyone's moving their GPUs to, that's why DRK has caught so much attention.

trust me, just watch. if you could launder money easy as pie with darksend, do you NOT think that there are many people in this world who would take notice? there's a reason i stick with currencies which can be tracked aka bitcoin/litecoin. cause they're not in danger of being shutdown, delisted, destroyed like coins trying to become anonymous. shit even a dollar bill has a serial number on it, you don't think that no tracking, no serial number, no way of see money change hands isn't a huge liability in this world? you're kidding yourself.

I think you'll find some people in Langley, for a start, who would just love to be able shift a lot of money around instantly, cheaply, and untraceably. Wink

ROFL! fair enough. i mean there's many facets out there that would like a darksend feature, not all of them benevolent. and the moment the public sector starts getting wind, there will be press. probably not good press for all of crypto. "New Bitcoin clone supports terrorism!" etc. you can only imagine how people will roll with it. it's that inevitability that has be thinking this isn't the best long-term investment, enjoy it now though, this is the honeymoon period. i can't see it lasting forever.

Drive space is looking pretty weak, but it's better than nothing...

Any idea how much is needed ?

Space 6gb and bandwith 25gb is that not enough ?

6GB of disk is super weak.

You are free to mine anything you want but your analysis is wrong. Anti-laundering agencies need to focus on entry an exit points, exchanges and services that let you change crypto for fiat and that is all they can attempt to control.  There is a huge need for a well developed well maintained privacy centric crypto, politicians need it too, I could list a number of applications but there is plenty of examples in the thread.

My guys been doing this for the past few days:

eth0  /  daily

day         rx              |  tx              |  total           |  avg. rate
     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
      05/09/14    346.34 MiB |  569.44 MiB|  915.78 MiB |  86.83 kbit/s
      05/10/14    524.69 MiB |  784.60 MiB|    1.28 GiB   |  124.14 kbit/s
      05/11/14    593.07 MiB |    1.30 GiB  |    1.88 GiB   |  182.10 kbit/s
      05/12/14    878.42 MiB |    2.15 GiB  |    3.01 GiB   |  292.27 kbit/s
      05/13/14    478.18 MiB |    1.32 GiB  |    1.78 GiB   |  268.31 kbit/s
     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------

I only started monitoring it halfway through the 9th so that day's incomplete. No idea if this is normal or not, I was going to watch it for a while.

Use darkcoind getpeerinfo to check if there is old client(0.8.x, and 0.9.0).
Old client(0.8.x, and 0.9.0) try to download newer blocks they don't have but POW check error occurred,
doing download  newer blocks again and again.
As old client get stucked in specific block height(no), it's logged to debug.log.

example.
Code:
2014-05-12 19:42:23 getblocks 12240 to 000000000d7ab1df31075f8f5e56508b120dfb292bc579f6c7fc2b62609516e3 limit 500
2014-05-12 19:42:23   getblocks stopping at 12243 000000000d7ab1df31075f8f5e56508b120dfb292bc579f6c7fc2b62609516e3
again and again

This is from one of my node, past few days.
I have simply banned them.
Code:
     27 /Satoshi:0.9.0/
     24 /Satoshi:0.8.9/
     13 /Satoshi:0.8.9.2/
      9 /Satoshi:0.8.6.2/
      4 /Satoshi:0.8.6.1/
      3 /Satoshi:0.8.8/
      2 /Satoshi2:0.8.6.2/
      1 /litecoinseeder:0.01/
      1 /WorldcoinFoundation:0.8.6.1/
      1 /Leadoshi:1.0.0.2/

With May 14th Hardfork, those old clients will be isolated completely.
Then I will remove my useless ban scripts.

can someone please tell me if there is a darkcoin sistercoin which does not use the darksend feature? i happen to think that an anonymizing feature like this is actually not a selling point, and infact a point of contention for future adoption. bitcoin and litecoin have openly rejected any ideas to implement such a feature.

i really like the x11 algorithm, but i want to just use it on a normal coin, is there a list of available x11 coins out there? or a consensus on what the #2 x11 coin is? ie. one that's already on real exchanges etc?

anyone?>

DRK with DarkSend turned off...

If you hate your privacy so much, why not just stick with BitCoin/LiteCoin/DogeCoin/HiroCoin/PeerCoin/AnyOldAltCoin?

I don't get it...

first, it's not that i hate my privacy, but nice hyperbolic way to put me on the defensive before i even speak, i hear fox news is hiring. btw, i also "hate freedom" too Wink

Whilst I agree that the hardcore of the sheep will never desire it, and the rest will only catch on when it's on TV, there are enough people at the other end of the spectrum who want a totally anon coin yesterday. The latter is no where near the numbers of the herd but I believe it is more than enough. Now, taking the whole of the peeps who actually hold some form of crypto right now, what % do you think are hungry for a totally anon coin?

I have had my doubts myself about whether too many people will give in to paranoid fear about actually using it, but I know it's going to happen. The entire paradigm for the world is shifting, it has to happen. As Clif High says with regards to crypto's "Universe has provided". The genie is out of the bottle, and all we have to do is be brave enough and not give in to fear.

Your commentary is hyperbolic itself. I responded in turn.

Delisted because it's anonymous... I wasn't aware of a crypto registery, or any way one could be made feasible... Kinda like gun control; hopeless pipe dream of ignorant hate-mongers...

My cash hasn't been "delisted" yet, it's pretty damned anonymous. Trading any crypto and mixing through a coin change in a cryptoexchange or bitcoin fog...

"Delist" me, I dare you.

Silk road got butsed, how many darknet markets are there now?

Cut off one head, 20 grow back...

People who believe in the The State as if it had god-like power are sad people. I'd like to cheer you up, but you'd have to renounce your guvdiety first...

sorry, would this make it all better: "i don't give a shit FOR the darksend feature" instead of "i don't give a shit ABOUT the darksend feature"?

all better now?

darksend is a liability for this coin IMO. i'm not mining DRK because of this liability, i'll mine other X11 coins, as that's the only positive feature about DRK, well that and the dark gravity wave thing, that was also good. too bad it's all held up by the fact that once they get darksend working, it will most probably be delisted from all major exchanges. I could daytrade DRK right now and try to get rich on this bubble, but i don't do that, I invest long-term, and this is a fundamental aspect of DRK which impedes it's long-term viability.

address me on the issue i'm presenting, and stop trying to catch me in some bullshit catch-22, my posts have been as clear as day. stop FUDing my posts.

My guys been doing this for the past few days:

eth0  /  daily

day         rx              |  tx              |  total           |  avg. rate
     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
      05/09/14    346.34 MiB |  569.44 MiB|  915.78 MiB |  86.83 kbit/s
      05/10/14    524.69 MiB |  784.60 MiB|    1.28 GiB   |  124.14 kbit/s
      05/11/14    593.07 MiB |    1.30 GiB  |    1.88 GiB   |  182.10 kbit/s
      05/12/14    878.42 MiB |    2.15 GiB  |    3.01 GiB   |  292.27 kbit/s
      05/13/14    478.18 MiB |    1.32 GiB  |    1.78 GiB   |  268.31 kbit/s
     ------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------

I only started monitoring it halfway through the 9th so that day's incomplete. No idea if this is normal or not, I was going to watch it for a while.

Use darkcoind getpeerinfo to check if there is old client(0.8.x, and 0.9.0).
Old client(0.8.x, and 0.9.0) try to download newer blocks they don't have but POW check error occurred,
doing download  newer blocks again and again.
As old client get stucked in specific block height(no), it's logged to debug.log.

example.
Code:
2014-05-12 19:42:23 getblocks 12240 to 000000000d7ab1df31075f8f5e56508b120dfb292bc579f6c7fc2b62609516e3 limit 500
2014-05-12 19:42:23   getblocks stopping at 12243 000000000d7ab1df31075f8f5e56508b120dfb292bc579f6c7fc2b62609516e3
again and again

This is from one of my node, past few days.
I have simply banned them.
Code:
     27 /Satoshi:0.9.0/
     24 /Satoshi:0.8.9/
     13 /Satoshi:0.8.9.2/
      9 /Satoshi:0.8.6.2/
      4 /Satoshi:0.8.6.1/
      3 /Satoshi:0.8.8/
      2 /Satoshi2:0.8.6.2/
      1 /litecoinseeder:0.01/
      1 /WorldcoinFoundation:0.8.6.1/
      1 /Leadoshi:1.0.0.2/

With May 14th Hardfork, those old clients will be isolated completely.
Then I will remove my useless ban scripts.
So bandwidth usage should go down tomorrow?

Yep pretty sure.
