I expect that 1100 MN count to go up more and more. I used to play around a bit on the exchanges but since Mintgox and the endless news of scams I'm going to hodl my coins in a few MN's. Maybe play a bit with payments but that's about it. People wonder why there is little volume???

we are only 2 MN's away of running 1100 active MN's ... and by the way i can fully recommend using Flare's trustless Masternode Hosting Service :

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/service-masternode-hosting-service.2648/

quote :

''Running a trustless masternode hosting service for people who don't want to mess around with VPS providers, Linux configurations, daemon updates and such.
 Costs are 5.25 DRK per node and month* including hosting, maintenance, bandwidth and updates.
 If you want to join PM me or email holger@masternodehosting.com

 Holger

* price will be adjusted to DRKUSD price, so it will be equal to ~$9 per node and month''

great service, highly recommended!  Cool

The wallet executable on windoze 7 64bit is terrible - generally slow & very unresponsive, it takes an age to sync & is pretty unusable while doing so - & not much better when it's finished. I see a few members have commented on this problem also - is the issue being looked into?

Thanks  Smiley

I believe this is an issue with every coin's wallets - as the size grows it becomes slow and unresponsive. Multithreaded approach (UI-thread is separate from the worker threads) could solve the issue, but it is obviously a lot of work - and Evan's time is better spent on other things. Should we try to hire a developer to overhaul the wallet to support multithreading?

Let me guess...synchronizing the blockchain on a Commodore 64 diskette ?

I'm on Win7 64 and the blockchain synchronized in a matter of minutes (from 0) and the wallet is working perfectly fine. Maybe because i'm on SSD ? Maybe because you have a shit 4500rpm laptop HDD ? Who knows...

Edit : Could it be that you are using an Asus Eee PC 900 ? Don't lie to me.

i'm using a windows 8.1 64bit wallet, no problem with syncing or with the wallet being slow or unresponsive.
Just make sure you transferred your coins into a new wallet before using it and make sure you have enough nodes
in yr darkcoin.conf so your connected fast :

addnode=54.187.228.106:9999
addnode=68.226.51.134:9999
addnode=192.241.246.214:9999
addnode=93.95.228.131:9999
addnode=94.23.148.203:9999
addnode=212.129.12.103:9999
addnode=81.134.134.100:9999
addnode=108.61.211.107:9999

note : its very important that funds from older wallets (pre-RC5 wallets or pre-RC4 .. not totally sure) gets transferred to newly created wallets with latest version
or it will create a lot of problems. Simply installing the latest darkcoin-qt.exe over the older one will not do with those old wallets.

Also having a lot of input amounts (from for example a p2p pool) could have a negative effect on the wallet, try bundling them into one input amount
every so often through your coin control..

I believe this is an issue with every coin's wallets......

No, I run many wallets on this PC without issue - the Darkcoin wallet is the only one that behaves this way & has only started doing so since upgrading to v0.10.15.17. It is not a sync issue - I have connections - it is an issue with the wallet itself. I also run Darkwallet on other Linux machines without issue, so it is only the windoze version - as others have also commented about previously. I also upgraded to this wallet version in the correct manner, checked & double checked again - it makes no difference.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Maybe its better to use Cryptsy as exchange, thats the exchange where the largest Darkcoin volume is traded.

on a sidenote : for anyone using google docs spreadsheets try this in a spreadsheet :

=IMPORTHTML(ʺhttps://bitcoinwisdom.comʺ,ʺtableʺ, ʺ0ʺ)

shows the volumes of some specific exchanges per coin, so you can see which one has leading volume.

The fucking price talk again? Dude, take a look at bitcoin's price. We all know this is not about Darkcoin. When bitcoin tanks, it affects all coins.

Not sure what's worse, accepting Darkcoin is dependent on Bitcoin or ignoring the extremely low trading volume of Darkcoin.

Last 24 hours:

Bitcoin - $15 million
Litecoin - $2.3 million
Dogecoin - $18 million
Peercoin - $100,000

Darkcoin... $30,000

Fuck the price, that can go up or down easily. Low trading volume is the real worry. Means no one wants it/is using it

Low volume is a result of the post-Mintpal situation as most trades were @ Mintpal and DRK was the highest-volume coin there (excluding random spikes from various coins). The DRK market needs to find equilibrium through the use of new exchanges but it will take time.
