Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Peercoin is losing a lot of value as well : http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/#BTC

 BTC             USD

-9.58%        -16.74%   Litecoin
-7.45%        -14.78%   Peercoin
-0.71%        -8.58%     Darkcoin

Darkcoin so far is just losing USD value and practically no BTC value.

It's interesting that LTC seems to have stabilised around the 0.0076 to 77 mark for the past 10 or so hours while BTC has continued to drop. Probably doesn't mean too much and it could drop off the cliff any moment is a sudden "catch up" (or down) to BTC. But one wonders what sort of trading scenarios are playing out within the LTC world that cause a temporary reprieve like that.

LTC down 10% in 24 hours
BTC down 5% in 24 hours
DRK down 1% in 24 hours.

According to Bitfinex anyway http://www.bfxdata.com/
No, when btc down all altcoins down (FIAT)You dont lose BTC but you lose $
LTC down= 10+5= 15%
DRK down= 1 +5 =  6%

who cares? this "panic" is normal trading. The technologgy behind btc is here to stay. You all better sell your ltc for drk now.

LOL
i like your style !
straight to the point
 Grin
I sold my ltc some months ago, and i sold high % of BTC too, now i have BTC, DRK, PTC (spanish crypto) and 3 project (no normal coin), in this time i "earn" BTC (BTC-USD) and now i can buy more

Interesting that DRK is becoming the #1 coin of choice (after BTC) for gambling and precious metal buying...

Remember that bitcoingroup video where Kristov Atlas had a rant about why was LTC worth anything at all when so many other coins were far more innovative and better featured... ?

Same argument applies to BTC. It's a centralised and increasingly regulated slug of a currency, in a rational market it wouldn't be worth over a hundred times more than DRK.

I see a lot of people making the mistake of thinking that DRK didn't suffered from this dumpage..just because it's still being traded at 600k.

If you convert your DRK's to BTC or dollar, then i'm sorry to say, but you are at 13%-14% loss.

The absolute worst people in history, ranked by the wisdom of the crowd: "Vlad the Impaler", "Mihnea the Evil", "Ivan the Terrible" and "Evan the Instaminer".
