wow! This must be the best Anniversary Present for Darkcoin by the crypto-community! Cheesy

BTW:
the numbers of cmc are not correct at the moment.
the site compares numbers that are one week old (changing the feed back and forth, due to bitstamp i guess)

only the price is correct, the percentages are wrong.

DΛRKCOIN -> is now -> DΛSH
----------
not DashCoin, not DarkDash, not anything. The Name has been / is changed the tech stays the same

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

If bitcoin goes down to 150$ range, there is no doubt that Litecoin will drop proportionally. But at what price would Litecoin mining be so unprofitable that it might actually kill the coin?

yeah LTC is going down fast...
but it still has a 42K buy order at 00601 (LTC)

I think thats just people in the US still asleep who, when they were last awake, set their orders way below the current trading price. They're going to get a shock when they wake up.

The thing is, if you've been monitoring BTCe trollbox for the last year you'll know that there are loyal LTC afficionadoes who are convinced there's a huge pump coming like the one of November 2013. The problem with that is that back then, LTC was THE number 2 crypto in lots of ways. But now it doesn't have a lot going for it fundamentally and it hasn't had the traction that Bitcoin has had during the last year in terms of adoption, service infrastructure, PR etc.

So that pump may never come and many are starting to realise it. The price has now dropped below 2013's low point where the pump started and the dumping's only accelerating. Every small rise is just being used as a cushion for exits.

This is going to get very interesting.

The very long term moving averages are now turning negative. It would take a Warren Buffet LTC sugar daddy who wants to blow half his holdings to turn this around I think.

But at what price would Litecoin mining be so unprofitable that it might actually kill the coin?

i cant remember if i read it on the wallobserver-thread,
or if there was a segment on letstalkbitcoin,
(i think it was ltb ... )

about that topic but i cant remember the figures.

but what i didnt thought about:

-> price drops
-> mining becomes heavily unprofitable
-> miners pull out (massive)

-> -> the difficulty is so high that the rest of the network cant solve blocks "at all"
-> it takes month/weeks till the difficulty-adjustment happens

-> coin gets useless in the meantime (transactions take forever)
-> -> coin is dead.

// there where some examples. (coins)
// and they predicted LTC to die exactly that death.

///// i dont think that the BTC-price matters that much. its more about ltc´s own "value" than it is about the price of the "reserve currency" (btc)

WHOW !
1st time ever !!
 Grin Grin Grin Grin

If Darkcoin price manages to reach 0.011 then in the coinmarket cap we will be #3 right below Litecoin (filtering non-mineables) but our price will be higher than LTC Cheesy  This price rise however has to happen naturally. I don't think a coordinated pump can be sustainable.

Just buy 18DRK on 18th.. everyone.. no matter what the price is..  Grin

I have a feeling that dev team will also have a nice present on Anniversary- either a nice new wallet design or perhaps some new feature. That should also compound the effect of price increase. But i think this all should be happening naturally.

Jeez. I was just about to raid my cold wallet to buy some PPC for hedging purposes thinking it was about to take off based on:

[1] - it's on BTCe and BTCe is still a trend setter

[2] - the BTCe boys are looking around for a rescue vehicle from LTC

Next thing I see is a massive PPC dump. So nothing is certain here - PPC may be a victim instead of a beneficiary (last year I was convinced that PPC would eventually inherit the No2 position if not the No1).

Who does that leave then ?

[1] - DOGE

[2] - a certain other coin which people round here may be familiar with

Lets see if DRK becomes a victim or beneficiary. PPC dump in progress. Shakeup in progress. Will this affect BTCe's plans ?  Amber alert.

PPC Dump....

Funds == my investment gets bigger in price?

In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

Persistant DDOS on and off over the last few days.   I think some hosting changes are being made.  It'll be back up soon.
