Looks like Evan won the 2014 Proof of Honor award, awesome to see him get that recognition

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=920053.0

Thanks to everyone who supported me and Darkcoin! It's a great honor to receive an award like this for the work I've been doing, it really means a lot that all of my effort slaving away on this hasn't been wasted.  Also thanks to all of you who are helping Darkcoin behind the scenes to become something greater, we couldn't have done it without you. In summary, the Intel Management Engine and its applications are a backdoor with total access to and control over the rest of the PC. The ME is a threat to freedom, security, and privacy, and the libreboot project strongly recommends avoiding it entirely. Since recent versions of it can’t be removed, this means avoiding all recent generations of Intel hardware. details https://libreboot.org/faq.html#intelme --- https://tehnoetic.com/laptops --- https://store.vikings.net/x200-ryf-certfied

So that means 16% of masternodes can expect zero privacy?  That is not very reassuring.

You clearly have no idea how Darksend works. Darksend utilizes the whole masternode network to anonymize coins. Specific masternodes cant uncover the trail of coins that went through the Darksend process.

Well, who is to say that a certain three-lettered agency doesn't have copies of the other services' databases?

I got mine for $8 USD / year.

Unless the masternodes are logging the mixing, there is no data to sift through, so yes, the 3 letter government agency may have a copy of your database, but even you can't figure out what your masternode processed (unless you modified your node to snoop and log off chain info).  Thus, just like the guv buying a bunch of their own masternodes, it makes no difference.  The few that log and snoop have to be well over 90% of the masternodes to get < a 1% chance of following a coin.  So this argument sounds great, but it doesn't matter which VPC/VPS you use as far as security goes.  Unless the government makes everyone shut down, but it only takes 5 minutes to start it back up somewhere else, so no big deal there either.

Now price wise, yes, there are cheaper and better options, I totally agree Wink

I'd like to add my congratulations too Evan. Probably one of the fundamental attributes of Darkcoin that's been so assuring and confidence-building is your level headed commitment to an orderly representation of what you're thinking on DRK is, what you're planning for the tech's roadmap and what you know can actually be achieved. It's a stark contrast against so many other altcoins where the hype and hubris is all consuming and whips so many people up only to result in a disastrous collapse (there are too many to mention; most of us know some examples). I really appreciate this aspect of your nature and approach.

Software development and IT projects are notorious for failing to deliver on expectations and documented features/capabilities. But you and the Darkcoin team have consistently set appropriate and achievable goals then followed through with delivery. That's what's brought such good people into the fold and facilitated the loyalty so many here demonstrate. I found out about DRK through the BTC-e troll-box (of all places....they use to call it Dork....jealousy I guess!) and although I bought in at levels far above where we're at, I've seen evidence all the way along that DRK has a very good chance of succeeding and making an enormous difference.
