If you want to learn more about the Dash project, former DRK, don't forget to listen to the most recent LetsTalkBitcoin episode. It is a full interview with Dash's lead developer Evan Duffield and includes very good explanations about the main features of the platform and future plans.

https://letstalkbitcoin.com/blog/post/lets-talk-bitcoin-196-distortions-towards-privacy-or-many-hands-makes-light-work

Bump!  Smiley

Given the price rise we probably have serveral new holders of DRK/DASH. Take a listen. You will get a real appreciation of the value of the coin you are now holding.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Sorry... should have included more of the list so you could see who we passed. We are worth more than 1/3rd of Litecoin now.

...

I have zero walls nor any bids at all up atm and haven't had since those at 0.0145 seven or so hours ago, just to say that this demonstrates that the price isn't necessarily linked to those walls and doesn't look like it requires them as a safety net either.

Many thanks for all who sold at 0.0145 - they've gone to a good home Smiley

Nice to see that we're > $4 atm & well > $20MM market cap too Cool

We are NOT @ $4+

4    Bitfinex   DRK/USD    $ 20,519   $ 3.76    6.66 %    Recently
5    useCryptos   DRK/BTC    $ 16,917   $ 15.36    5.49 %    Recently
6    Poloniex   DRK/BTC    $ 16,326   $ 3.79    5.30 %    Recently

"useCryptos" (never heard of 'em) are skewing the averaging of the price.

It won't be number two for long at this rate. Ripple isn't really a coin per se. It's more of a settlement system that uses blockchain technology. Most of the coins are held by Ripple, so most people filter that one out. We're #3 for all intensive purposes.

As far as why it's #2:

Let's say you premine 1,000,000,000 coins. If you sell ONE for a dollar, your market cap is now $1,000,000,000

For coinmarketcap.com, you have to filter premined + not mined to get a good count.

As far as where it's used: I don't know >_>

Wow... big arbitrage opportunity then. It's been persisting for a while... We've been about $4 average for quite some time.

Well, it's still nice to see a preview of what the charts will look like in another week or so. Smiley

long story but having 31,908,551,587 "ripple" in circulation the market cap gets large but doesn't mean it is liquid or really justifies being #2.

Market cap isn't everything and if marketcap was a true representation of worth, DRK would be much higher.   I feel the issue with DRK is the lack of coins.  Drop the price down to 40 cents and split the coin 10x and it might be a different game.    BTC has the same problem.   People like whole coins..  Smiley

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/#BTC

not sure if it's glitching the average price as someone pointed out, seems that it may be doing so atm, or perhaps just a little time slip in to the near future Cheesy

As far as where it's used, I understand they've signed up a number of small banks that settle using Ripple as the backend. It's a pretty innovative use of blockchain and PoS. But at end of the day, you really should exclude it from the list.

I don't know how that math is even working out... the highest we were at today was .015 per coin on Bitfinex. With BTC at $260.66 in that image and $4.22 a coin, that's a rate of .01616...

EDIT: Just saw all the previous posts about usecryptos skewing the averages.

It's because one exchange - useCryptos - represents about 5.8% of trading volume and had a price of $15+. That 5.8% weight in the blended average was enough to pull the average up $0.65 from where every other exchange was.
