I added a probability calculation to the output.
(Something I'd built for the next version of dashman, which is on hold right now due to the instantx soda machine and another official dev project. Sorry folks! But I promise the wait will be worth it!)

But, it estimates the blocks since paid using the last-paid timestamp, so it's not completely accurate.

There is an interesting conversation with Charlie Lee, as Peter seems to have used the most basic double spending technique against them and kind of exposed coblee.

I'm not quite sure what the profit margins are on snacks but if 1 in 5 are double spent then that's 20% turnover gone. I can see many teenagers taking advantage of this for a quick free snack, especially on drunken nights out.

I didn't know he deleted Tente's Reddit posts... It sounds like his head is all over the place. He realises Bitcoin has many issues, which he constantly highlights, which many see as a bitcoin developer attacking his own creation but he can't bring himself to see the light because he is too far down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, so he fights DASH instead.

It's funny how you become blind to the obvious when you're so close to the action. That's why I always try to make a point of looking at all other crypto projects while also looking at the wider global picture so I don't become blinded myself... keeping an open mind.

It sounds like his head is all over the place. He realises Bitcoin has many issues, which he constantly highlights, which many see as a bitcoin developer attacking his own creation but he can't bring himself to see the light because he is too far down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, so he fights DASH instead.

It's not so much "seeing the light" as what I was talking about on the previous couple of pages - that technical development is a question of establishing design priorities of which there is a choice. The priorities and the science involved in creating money are so far removed and divergent from those of developing information transport networks that you have to have an extraordinarily solid awareness of what your objectives are in order to keep sight of them.

For example, Todd sees very little distinction between a 10 second wait and a 5 minute wait for confirmation, and from the standpoint of security alone there is indeed not a lot of difference (i.e. for him, it's just a question of degree, from low/no to high security).

On the other hand from a different perspective - say a commercial one - the distinction is stark because as I highlighted earlier in the thread, these are two distinct markets - on the one hand instant transactions (point of sale market) and settlement on the other.

Then from a monetary perspective, the distinction is again just as stark because we are talking about the difference between cash and non-cash by definition (and increasingly formalised definitions as that presented by the ECB).

Nor do third party services like payment channels adequately address this as he suggests - unless you want to throw out the original objective of an indigenous cash medium.

So it's not enough just to look at these priorities intuitively and state that it's a question of degree of confirmation. You have to take all design perspectives into account and if they are in conflict then acknowledge that fact and address them independently - as Dash is doing with its complimentary tiered protocol.

He is not interested in doing that (at least not within the scope of the blockchain protocol) which is why he's getting all this flack from the 0-conf lobby.
