Bitcoin was loss making for years.
I am so glad you mentioned this. It was very disappointing to see people declare good coins "dead" at 2 weeks old. Not that I heard this said about DRK, but lots of alt coins have had the supposed gurus of altcoins act like they know nothing about the history of the most successful coin ever, BTC. Forget the pump/mine/dump coins, give real ones like DRK a chance. I know we will all be glad we hoarded DRK when it was dirt cheap, maybe 3 years from now. Don't sell at the first bubble, I can't imagine a bitcoin seller liquidating at $45.00 in Sept 2013 then realizing what a mistake that was in Nov 2013.

I just watch (and buy ) in amusement people selling this coin on cryptsy... This is one of the very few truly innovative coins, with real value - anonymity - which makes it a commodity, not just a trading instrument. As such, it is very resistant to any pump/dump schemes (and we've seen how well it handled dump of ~5% coins in existence through the exchange theft). I mine and buy it not because what it's worth now, but what's it'll be worth in several months. Supply is very limited, and the market for anonymous transactions will be huge. 500-750mln market cap this year is very real. Not unlike the bitcoin, people will regret ignoring Darkcoin when it hits 10$, then 100$, and then more... Well, I better get back to mining.

Srry to say that, but I'm SO HAPPY to see your problem. I got the exact same problem, asking all over the internet in various language and seems to be the only one until now. I have 3 290 that do exactly the same: start at 2500 then get back to 2100 (all in the exact same second) after 10 minutes. I'm under Bamt, and it only do that with the 290 AND darkcoin. No problem in Scrypt, no problem in Darkcoin with my other kind of cards. If you (or others) found a workaround, do not hesitate to share. I'll be glad to offer a few Darkcoins to someone able to fix this.
The quote train was getting a little long there lol. I'm sure we're not alone. I'm using windows 7 . . so clearly it's not our platforms. This leaves something specific to 290's or the miner/kernel. Anyone have a clue? Which 290 series are you running? I have 5 Sapphire 290 Tri-x OC that I can normally get 2.4-2.5mh/s but right now I can only run 4 cards. I have them running great at 2.345+/- or 9.290mh/s combined on all 4. I'm having issues with my mobo and had to RMA ram. My rejects are .01% on 2 cards and 0% on the other 2. WU 0.033-0.0334/m per card. Thanks for posting your config . . it was clearly my miner settings. Don't know which one though that's why I posted my old config. Has anyone seen any particular TC to be better than others with this coin? I'm not looking for a specific number . . just that there is one. Any playing around I've done gave me pretty much the same hashes. I use the same config file on my R9 sapphire 290, and I went down to 2000 1à min later, so it did not fix anything for me. Does the fix work for you?

Evan,
Just wondering what you think the effect of "stealth addresses" in bitcoin would have on DRK? Do you think it will devalue DRK? Would it provide the same level of anonymity as DarkSend?
Thanks!
I don't think they're nearly as strong as something like DarkSend. Although, I could implement that into the client and call it "StealthSend" or something.

Anyone know why the new wallett isnt syncing?
I updated yesterday, it synced pretty fast, woke up now and it just wont bother even after a restart.
I just redownloaded the QT, deleted everything except wallet.dat and it gets stuck at the same point @ 16 hours left. Does it have anything to do with the fork? Someone mentioned adding these nodes a few pages back when other people were having the same problem: addnode=62.141.39.175 addnode=54.80.16.112 addnode=mightypool.net addnode=213.229.88.102 addnode=85.131.127.26 addnode=q30.qhor.net addnode=207.12.89.180 addnode=54.186.8.140 addnode=uswest01.mine.nu addnode=uswest02.mine.nu addnode=darkcoin.fr addnode=asia02.mine.nu addnode=asia01.mine.nu addnode=42.121.58.91 addnode=drkpool.com addnode=lotterymining.com addnode=dark.hashrapid.com addnode=cpu-pool.net addnode=drk.plasr.com addnode=Dark.SuchPool.pw addnode=drk.yobapool.net addnode=drk.justmine.us addnode=nimuecrypto.com/ addnode=darckcoin.mine.nu addnode=boundarytesters.com addnode=cryptsy.com addnode=mintpal.com addnode=c-cex.com addnode=Coin-Swap.net addnode=coins-e.com addnode=pool.darkcoin.io addnode=85.102.51.213 addnode=66.128.80.203 addnode=98.178.131.72 addnode=188.142.39.105 addnode=62.141.39.175 addnode=42.121.58.91 addnode=50.19.116.123 addnode=50.17.98.53 I can't say that they'll work, because it sounds like I did the same thing you did and mine didn't have a problem syncing. Ty anyway will try it. OK have now deleted and redownloaded blockchain TWICE with new Windows client, and TWICE stuck on Block 34110. Will sync fine up to that point and then will not move, even after waiting several hours and after adding the above nodes. Any method of directly downloading the full blockchain to get past this hump?

Not sure what all you people are talking about with regards to profitability. I just did a calculation and for me it came out to ~0.017 BTC/day for DRK @ 8.8 MH/s vs. ~0.017 BTC/day for top scrypts @ 2.5 MH/s. This is at the current DRK price of 0.00125 and with free electricity (which I do have; if you don't then DRK wins by a wide margin).
Btw, it's even better for some cards (5xxx / 6xxx) that pull like 3.6-3.8x vs scrypt.
