I don't think the Alt coin world really knows about drk. Totally under the radar.

This is so incredibly true. Just the other day there was a reddit post about the upcoming 5/20/100 m/hash scrypt asics, and the only coin really talked about as an alternative were the scrypt-n coins (vert mainly).

Once summer temperatures arrive I honestly think that the X11 algorithm will really appeal to people. It is almost an inside joke with people who have to put up with 85-90 degree temps in their house/room due to the heat their rigs produce. The vastly reduce power draw of the X11 algo will make such an immense difference for miners that I don't think people can truly appreciate yet.

That said.. I really do think it is a good thing for now to keep the coin under the radar until the final kinks are worked out and things are finalized. Even with the recent DGW fork, something like that is far easier to implement when there is a relatively small number of exchanges and pools to convert over. ....and i'm not going to lie, it would be nice to mine as much as I can before the time comes when 100-400 difficulty was the 'good ol days'.

Come and help mine darkcoin, and get a chance of winning the lottery pool.

once a week 50% of the fees will be drawn,
to one lucky winner... is it your turn next?[/center]

Pool Pays Witdrawal fee: 0.0

Dedicated pool, we only run Darkcoin mining
DDOS Protected pool, resistant to: fake shares & scrypt ddos
Only time stratum goes down is for VERY short periods when updating stratum, or wallet
Stable Fast Server, but dont take my word for it, see what others have said in this thread

+1 for this pool. Has been good and reliable so far. It's also in that good range of hash rate, not so big that you feel bad, but not so small that payments are crazy irregular.

I've submitted a design brief to designcrowd.com, and some interesting designs are coming in. Here's a peek at one of the submissions:

Currently at 413 / 600 DRK for logo design fundraising.

Xc8xGSP7FwWGPQpgw298z7NYdA8xJK8ooh

Wow, that's super nice. Do we have a link for our page on designcrowd?

I do not understand why we are still talking about redesigning the logo ??
shouldn't we stick with the one being use by the exchanges and such !?
The logo is fine and in use, so be it, there will always be people who like it and others who do not !
The developers launched with the blue logo, and we should stick to that !!!
(we are too far in by now to redesign)

Omg, we do not have a logo, we have a coin design.  It isn't the same thing.

It's like saying that a picture of an Air Jordan is the Nike logo.

What's this then?

Looks like a logo to me. Anyway, the "coin design" is pretty much fine as it is (except the line in the middle of the D should be horizontal, just looks annoying otherwise). Perhaps a more distictive font could be used, but it's a waste of a bounty for a whole new design.

I agree with you 100%. Sure, the coin design looks nice and as a physical coin I'm sure it would look great too. I think a logo should be much simpler though. Less gradients, shine and binary code - just the essentials. and a clear colour scheme which will  be useful for brand recognition.

I believe DRK can rise to 0.01 BTC!

Other national coins no uniqueness in spec, can hv a larger marketcap than DRK..

DRK deserves much more!!!!  Angry Angry Angry Angry

Registration at http://darksend.it is now free..

Repasta of original post:
Greetings all

I've launched the domain http://darksend.it. I intend to share the domain with everyone, so read on.
This page is looking to be a shorturl of sorts for darkcoin addresses. It has support for command line browsers, stripping html for wget|curl.
examples:
http://darksend.it/dime
http://darksend.it/yournamehere

from the command line:
$ curl darksend.it/dime
XcWPrhrtpJtBowmT3FfebLWDUZQPUZ73tz

I intend to give the domain to the community in the following ways:
1. (this one's just self promotion) The web server is hand written and as I think of more things that can help build the community, I will use my time to build them.
2. Once there are over 1000 users, I will throw the dns over to afraid.org, which has a long history giving free dynamic domain hosting services. This means you'll be able to point you.darksend.it to your webserver, or your computer, etc.
3. Anyone who donated (undetermined) drk during their registration will be given an account on an IRC bouncer running on the root domain itself. So you can irc as you@darksend.it.

3 can backfire so it's not a guarantee, just a best effort type scenario. Allowing people to irc with your domain is asking for a ddos and coming back for more. But if it works out, this would be awesome.

Vertcoin have a way bigger reddit community than we do, all mentions of vertcoin anywhere are always upvoted like it's the second coming of jesus.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

But WHY?  What are we doing wrong?  I think it's time to kick it up a notch!  I just don't know how, and those outside threads are scary!  LOL  I don't want to be an annoying poster saying "come here, it's better" LOL  What my husband and I can do is write an article introducing Darkcoin, but I haven't a clue how to get it published!
