Can we offset losses against next year's tax bill?
Unfortunately, I have no clue, LOL, I only know the extreme basics. Anyone??? Yes, I'm pretty sure the limit is $3000 individually. That puts my mind at rest, thanks for the info.

What if I leave my DRK in a really old wallet version, will I lose my DRK after wallet update? If so, that would be very disconcerning as it means that I will have to keep checking threads like these to make sure I update in time. I have about 10k DRK sitting in a 1 month old wallet. Will my dark remain safe in there forever? Does anyone know?

Believe it or not, I just visited the thread to find out the exact same thing!!! I have a few in an exchange and I was worried to withdraw to an (maybe) older version of wallet..

It'll be fine if you open up the wallet but I wouldn't send any Dark before checking for the latest wallet version. Most updates just add features, rarely are there forks. But with that much BTC invested in any coin I would always practice safety and check for new wallet upgrades. Takes 2 minutes of your time.

Would it be at all possible/beneficial to add i2p to the client like anoncoin is doing? I think i2p + coinjoin would deliver superb anonymity.

I like Dark coin. It is in btc38 anyway.

Might be jumping the gun here but it would be great to set up the first DarkSend transaction between two users. The media love stories about people buying unusual things with BTC. If we could show someone buying something anonymously with Darkcoin, it could get some traction. Maybe a concert ticket to a high-profile band? I’m assuming most people on here are from the US. Someone in the US could buy the ticket and sell it to another user over there. I’m not from the land of the free so I can’t

And here's an idea based on your idea: I've contacted the band The Darkness ( http://www.theactualdarkness.com/) to see if they would be interested in being involved in any way. No upcoming concert dates, but the sort of retro-ness of hte band might make for some fun video or event.

They would be cool but I wonder if people might wrongly assume that they created a gimmick coin based on their band name. Maybe it would be better to go for a band that's in the news, high profile and not associated with "Dark" in any way? Might make it more of a mainstream purchase, only anonymous. What do you think?

Still, it would be fun to see what they'd say...

They don't need to be involved - it's just a transaction after all.

I saw this on Twitter and was wondering if anyone could help me understand?
"For everybody holding #Darkcoin - Google 'Sybil Attack'"
I don't have the technical background to understand a Sybil Attack. Could someone explain this to me and if it negatively impacts DarkCoin's future at all? Might end up being nothing but I would like to know.

I have learned how to get those txs. Analysis done on the first 4k blocks. remind this. 1) both xcoin wallet and cpu miner provided at launch 2) wallet use new addreess when coin mined every time, not like pool Those high number of block found shoud be pool. analysis http://pastebin.com/uGWyQydvThis is great. Pretty much confirms that "smalltimeminer" got ~ 90k DRKs during the initial release. Which also confirms that the exchange hack was far more damaging to DRK prices since release ..... what did happen to smalltimeminer? http://coinramble.com/?p=20FEBRUARY 21, 2014 J0ACHIM LEAVE A COMMENT After being contentiously attacked by DDoS attack’s past month, smalltimeminer pool have decided to shut down.
Quote from Alphaminer First let us apologize for taking so long to make any statement as I’m sure many of you are wondering what is going on with the pools.
The short story is the small time miner pools were ddos into oblivion the other day causing all the pools to be shut down.
Obviously someone doesn’t like our pools whether it be our not so friendly competition or just your general asshole but one or more of the pools has been under attack 20+ times in the just the last month alone.
We are miners ourselves and have tried to provide fair, reliable, and secure pools. We are not flashy, we don’t spam threads, and we have never missed a payout, but we have grown tired of the daily battle.
With great sadness we have decided to close all the small time miner pools.
All balances are available for withdraw immediately.

Basically a Sybil Attack is an attack on peer-to-Peer network in which the attacker uses multiple nodes to establish that they are "trustworthy" and then proceeds to use that node "trust" to influence the network in some way. The type of influence depends on what type of network it is that is being attacked - it might be just disruption, injection of bad data , or capturing other user and/or node information. The name Sybil refers to the girl with multiple personalities. I'm not sure how this would affect the Darkcoin network, except that a 51% attack is somewhat the same principle.
