Crazy to see that Hirocoin, a total copy of Darkcoin is more popular this days.
We have to be better in marketing Smiley

It is crazy - what's going on?

it is even worse copy, as it doesnt have dark send Cheesy
but maybe it has more fair distribution of coins..
I dont think moores law is something extra fair as very early adopters, or better say bot nets operators, got big chunks and now it is quite hard to mine some amount of darks..
on HIRO you can still mine nicely, even diff very low compared to dark.. I mine both Wink

For a newbie, can you explain how this mining factor is affecting the price - really confused as to why DRK isn't showing a lot more price growth than its high-quality developer and robust community would seem to deserve.
It can be because lot of coins were minted before block reward really started to drop significantly... like month ago it was over 100 coins per block reward and now it is around 20 (dont know numbers exactly, dont have time to look at it now, you can check at any pools block history..). So maybe early miners are selling their coins with huge profits.. good thing is, once coins change their owners, new owners probably wont sell it without any nice profit so they will hold it and price will rise.
I think DRK has really bright future.. it is energy efficient, has great devs and will have dark send.. just very sound coin..
one of my favourite.. (besides MYR atm)

another thing - their web site says there are a total of 672m coins and dark is around 22million, total.  This hiro is "easy" to mine because there are so many and I think they have the same problem dark had before DGW was implemented.. with fake hashing taking place.

fake hashing is not the coins issue, it's pools. It's due to the stratum not being patched

Hard to support Hircoin, they went about it the wrong way despite the cloner coming here and trying to play smooth douche. They are not even the first clone I think? I know I read a few pages back when the first one was launched. They seem to be all about the marketing for sure but that's not gonna last https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=529111.0 Some provocative statements are gone but statements like this "Right now the only other X11 coin is Darkcoin. Darkcoin is also excellent, check out their ANN" makes it retarded.

It seems to be receiving more backing from established/long time members who dont like Darkcoin.

Honestly I see more coins using X11 as a good thing - pump/dump coins are a thing, and with scrypt ASICs coming in, people are going to be looking for "the next big" coins to mine. With HIC having a far pumpier, dumpier concept than DRK I hope it'll mean that the GPU dumpers hit them harder than they hit us. More X11 coins is a GOOD thing. We don't want ALL the GPU miners to move over to this coin at once....

I think the low price at the moment is doing all of us a great favour:
1) It allows for a better distribution of the coins
2) It allows wider audience to jump on at attractive entry point
3) It show how resilient the coin is to the traditional pump/dump/speculation

I hope for a steady increase once the Darksend is release and more marketing effort takes place, that's much better for the long term price and allows net hash to catch up.

And I still think we'll se > $100 per coin this year. It's inevitable considering qualities of the coin.
Low supply, excellent technical aspects - X-11, DGW, tallented dev full time, community.
Last but not least - anonymous transaction will be big, no question about it.

As for the Hirocoin - it brings nothing new to the table, just another coins on which early miners and pump/dumpers can make money.

In several months when the dust settles, only strong coins will be left with value / volume / use. Rest will be forgotten.

Yup somehow my last line got cut off. Going to see more x11 clones down the road and it is absolutely fantastic as it is great for all of us small(er) miners. I will support those who are not as shady as these Hircoin clowns. I almost wish it was another x11 clone getting more exposure. My rant had nothing to do with x11 cloning, I welcome them, but more to do with Hircoin team being pathetic douches.

Nope, I have both Hynix and Elpida 280x's, nothing like that, just less heat/noise.
What settings do you have?

Sounds to me like idle cores are sleeping in between the hashes Wink

Seriously thouhgh - nothing extreme there, what about the intensity/concurrency/g ?

same settings as a regular scrypt 8192 i 13 g 2, anyway it's only the elpidia that make the noise the old toxic with hynix is fine, and appears only with x11 algo, don't know really...

It might just be the fans resonating differently as they are running at lower speeds than with standard scrypt.

I have the same chipset, hope this is not the problem there.

BTW, which VGA would you choose for mining? I'm about to buy a R9 280x card, but I cannot decide if the Asus directcuII Top is better of the new Vapor-x with the three fans cooling system

Is the block explorer at http://explorer.darkcoin.io/ working correctly?

It seems to show the appropriate blocks and transactions, but the addresses it shows start with m or n, not X, and generally don't match what I see from darkcoind
