How will we be able to tell if everything went well with the fork? Are there any signs to look out for? Thanks.

For start we'll see the first 10% block payment to a masternode... then we'll have the late-updaters who have issues with their wallets because they didn't update and will go to update now. And we'll also have some p2pools or some pools mining on the old fork. We can also expect issues with p2pool patches.

Given that's it Sunday, some will fix it tomorrow.

Anyone guess the number of node ops? I'm betting it's under 50. And we'll all be logged in to our MNs, getbalance-ing or getinfo-ing like loons.  Grin

Actually from a tinfoil hat perspective, it's only the node ops that need compromising by the forces of evil. We need more ops, not just more nodes.

The wallet is telling me there are 285, higher than I would have thought.

Don't forget to update your p2pools today. The new code with masternode support is available at https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-drk

Port numbers have changed to 8999 for p2p and 8998 for workers. You may want to change the worker port to 7903 or port forward if you are currently running a pool.

On mainnet you will only see "Testing bitcoind P2P connection to '127.0.0.1:9999'..." until the hardfork because it doesn't support both protocol versions.

I'm on IRC if you need any help.

To existing p2pool-drk owner,  prepare to update, use dstorm's https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-drk .
Two scripts for existing p2pool-drk owner.

@Minotaur26

Glad you got it working. philipmicklon did an excellent job documenting it here https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-not-on-list.820/

This is BTC all over again.  Those who don't buy now will be crying when DRK hits $100.
If the big boys are still buying, I'm still buying.  Wink

I bought this morning and I'm happy I did!!

I'm continuously buying. I expect the price to test 0.1 over the coming weeks. Saw someone else earlier buying up 13000 in blocks of 500. For any of you not experienced with market trading, buy and hold, and watch the magic of continuous bubble phases one after the other happen. A market like this is a rarity.

And remember. After every major climb there is always a sharp decline straight after followed by a recovery. Don't be one of those idiots who thinks that sharp decline is the end and sells all their coins at the bottom. Saw a few people on here today screaming ITS THE END after the price dropped to 0.2 and they sold out. Don't be one of those people. Expect it, and keep your cool. And if your here to make money, set a target and get out then. Don't get greedy. Nothing goes up and up forever.

very good... but where would the target be ? what is an realistic price?

That's up to you. My target is above. I think this coin will come close to taking litecoins second place spot in the next couple of weeks, even if it is only temporary.

A price of over $75 per Darkcoin is entirely realistic before the end of 2014.

I think it'll be more than that, but my crystal ball is based on logic, not humans...

A price of over $75 per Darkcoin is entirely realistic before the end of 2014. That would mean matching or exceeding Litecoins market cap. Getting much further than Litecoins marketcap could be a huge challenge, we will see.

its funny i always thought of $80 so i totaly agree with you... lets hope the best it will reach there...
i think i depends of lots of other factors like other coins, activities from the side of BTC, the governments and so on... But as you buy not the coin but the dev with DRK you bought the best you can get in the moment and this is already proofed

What's going on with XC? Dev claims to have an anonymous wallet. Claim seems spurious, considering there's no whitepaper and only an extremely superficial explanation of how the technology works. Vaporware scam?

What happens when an unstoppable force meets a useless object?

The unstoppable force retracts because however useless that object is, it's already established. Whether that unstoppable force goes on to pass the useless object is fully dependant on the innovation and adoption over the next few months. Try not to count your chickens just yet, this coin has allot of potential but at the moment that's all it is. I still think it will be near 0.1 in the next three weeks, but 0.1 is a huge psychological barrier, and I don't think it's quite ready yet to pass it. Three weeks is a long time in the bitcoin world though. I honestly hope it does. Litecoin is useless now it's not ASIC resistant.
