Haha so far this has been my worst investment ever in cryptocurrency land.  I did throw them in cold storage right away because I believe in the long term idea.   Wont be trading them away.  There must be a bottom somewhere?  Cheesy

lol same here but I have faith.

This post sums up why all this bullshit is a scam
Read It. Hate It. Change the facts that it represents.

Update 1.00.07
min name_update fee of 0.01
You need to update before miners, or you will get stuck moves.
Added name_pending rpc - will show name_updates in memory pool.

On a different note:  I could open source my own bot code written in PHP.  Should I do so?  It is not really intelligent (since I didn't modify it much since right after the initial version which I wrote shortly after Huntercoin's launch already), but it still makes a little profit if the bots are maintained from time to time and it could serve as a basis for others who want to try themselves.  I agree that it will possibly help to give casual users the possibility to also control some bots.  (Besides that I also think Mithril Man's client will be great to have, especially if it includes more in-game intelligence and rudimentary bot features eventually!)
Not sure about the PHP code but rudimentary interactive bot features in the Qt-client or Mithril's will be the turning point.
Simple additional functions like "auto destruct if enemy comes in range" and "go back to spawn if have more than X coins, then
go to x,y and wait" would resolve the situation in the center very quickly.

Commanding minions is fun, they just shouldn't be helpless without their overlord. Wink

tl;dr = Move costs based on difference from A* linearization with non-linear (exponential/logarithmic) increasing fees. i.e. Spam all you want... but pay through the nose for being an idiot with wp lists that note every single tile in the path.

I think, now that all that nasty forking is done, HUC needs to get on other/more exchanges.
Everyone says that but i'm the onlyone voting for it  Undecided
https://www.mintpal.com/voting

Good point. I've added that to a list of places to vote:

http://forum.huntercoin.org/index.php?topic=12.0

I'll make sure to vote more at Mintpal. I've been voting elsewhere, and noticing that I'm the only one in some places.

Anybody get "Huntercoin.exe has stopped working" when you try to launch with new update? I still see huntercoin-qt in my task manager. Any ideas?

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Did you try to run it twice? If you run a second instance, one will crash. (Not sure why - probably a file locking issue.)

Open your task manager and make sure that it isn't running before you start the new version. It takes a while to shut down sometimes.

Here's my theory:

I think that HUC is heading to a more skilled level of users: users who know coding, know how to run bots and know how to play the game without wasting their time in front of the PC 24h/day. I think because of that less and less 'noob' people will come to play the game by themselves. Unfortunately because of that the numbers of noobies will drop and also the number of players will drop, causing the minority of coders to get 80% of all the hucs. This will lead to a price variation because the minority will rule over the HUC market and this coin will face 'waves' of prices. I expect this coin will go up and down frequently. Just because of that I don't think this coin will become the new bitcoin. Yes bitcoin is instable too, but it hasn't faced a drop of price of over 50%, and this drop occurred only because a huge bit-company has closed.

I think de devs should reconsider the legality of using bots in the game and let noobies play again. I think HUC needs stability with at least a equal number of bots and human players in the game and let more and more people join. I believe in a HUC world where millions of people play, not only 3-4 people with thousands of hunters.

That's only my theory, please don't hate. Cheesy
I would like to help huntercoin grow even more because I like the project, but unfortunately I can't play the game any more unless I buy a 200$ script or invest in thousands of hucs. I don't believe in alliances of real people because those things won't last forever.

thanks

bitcoin has dropped more than 50% many times

how can you stop bots? You can't.. Hopefully with the latest change and some proposed changes, it will make things better

AH! A theory! All theories need at least 1 attempt at debunking~! Grin Wink

Just keep your eyes open. Wink

You'd be surprised at what motivates some people.

Expect some new things in the near future.

Just because of that I don't think this coin will become the new bitcoin. Yes bitcoin is instable too, but it hasn't faced a drop of price of over 50%, and this drop occurred only because a huge bit-company has closed.

Huntercoin was never ever ever going to replace Bitcoin.

Snailbrain already pointed out that BTC has lost over half its value more than once. Check some charts - it happens once or twice a year. Cheesy Then it continues its rise to the moon! Smiley

You are quite literally, and I do mean literally, asking for the impossible.

You've basically asked for someone to stop the sun from rising, although stopping the sun from rising is actually more likely than what you've asked for. Literally. Not joking.

You can investigate that by searching for "Turing completeness".

It is literally impossible to stop bots.

I think HUC needs stability with at least a equal number of bots and human players in the game and let more and more people join. I believe in a HUC world where millions of people play, not only 3-4 people with thousands of hunters.

Keep your eyes on the thread here, but moreso on the official Huntercoin forums here:

http://forum.huntercoin.org/

Make sure to read in the General Discussion and General Development. There are some discussions popping up that address those. There will be more.

The problem isn't bots... I'll skip that though as the topic is just way too big to get into here. (The forums above are a better place.)

That's only my theory, please don't hate. Cheesy

No hate! Get in the forums above & chime in there. Discussions are more focused and productive there than in here.

Just wait... What you want is going to be available... it's just a matter of time...

one in the OP, a few days old.

sometimes the qt looks like it stuck (chronons don't increase).. this is due to a patch to limit the qt client frmo locking.
you can see if blocks are downloading by going to help/debug

Huntercoin Fan has redone the hunters (1 direction for now)

We may use these for the new logo and in mobile/web app. Development should start soon.

New Update also includes name_pending RPC:
Quote
This adds a new RPC call "name_pending" that lists all pending name operations (name_update and name_firstupdate) in the memory pool. The user's transactions are marked with "ismine":true, which is particularly useful for front-ends.

I was thinking of making some huntercoin toys/t-shirts/phisical wallets/mugs etc. I think this will help the grow of huntercoin popularity.

Hello,

Huntercoin is very interesting. To me what is needed is clear. You need to provide non-coder users with the ability to arrange their hunters into formations, and give them certain tasks such as
1) Landmine = blow up if someone not on a list comes near
2) Gatherer = Go gather nearest coin within x-spaces

I am sure by playing around with it I can think of more. Essentially there needs to be convenient ways for people to control large numbers of hunters.
