10 HUC to create a player, and the random disaster could kill it at any time? No way. I do NOT recommend upping the new player fee by 10x.

why?

10 huc, disaster,+ expiry, will make it expensive to control 5000 hunters and have them just sit there doing nothing afk....

It would play best controlling less...
10 HUCs is an approx price - though it will prevent map being overcrowded at this time.

Think about it some more..

p.s. are you the one controlling the 7k bots? Cheesy

Ummm, maybe that works for a bot army, but I am a lonely little scrypt miner with gpus who makes less than 0.01 btc/day. I bought in with 5 huc, bach when that cost me 0.005 btc. I can make maybe 20-50 coins a day, playing my less than 10 hunters at a time. You want raise that to 10x as much just to buy in and start playing with only 1 hunter you will chase off the little guy, like me. You will have nothing but the red guy who always has the crown and makes thousands a day. I work hard to get 20 HUC without the bots stealing my coins on the way to the bank. 10 is too much per guy for a guy like me. Maybe a sliding scale. 1-20 player=1huc each, 20-50 players=5 huc each, etc

i edited my post...

don't forget, there should be more coins to get after disaster and expiry, and more expensive to create a team (less players overall)... also, don't let your team die.

I'll think about it more - it's not set in stone, but i personally think it would be a major improvement. (try not to think about how the map is now)

I get your point about the disaster, and imagine my luck and joy if I happened to actually see the disaster and create a bunch of guys to go collect all the dropped coins before many others or the bot guys!! I also kinda like the idea of more hunters/player. I just think a sliding scale might be better so you dont price out the little guys.

What happened to this coin? It was (still is) my top 5 cryptocoin. Any plans to expand map, new map, or something of the sort?

we are still working on disaster and optimizations, and daemon/client stuff, while also simultaneously working on multi platform client.

Currently - Disaster is done, but takes a 2-5minutes to process with this amount of players on the map.. so we are still optimizing.
There is a new patch which reduces blkindex.dat by 35% ish, and reduces ram usage of the client by 50%.
Also working on a nameindex patch to speed up processing of Disaster block, but increases size of nameindex..
many more optimizations for faster sync..
All are optimized in such a way that it will make it easier/better for pruning of the chain in the not to distant future. It's possible to prune nameindex probably to a few mb (all dead names/moves or from disaster), and eventually completely prune the chain so that players can sync from a checkpoint (or disaster).
Domob is working hard on both namecoin and huntercoin to improve all this stuff.

We are also probably about to add Expiry, so hunters will live only for around 1 month or less, and considering upping the cost of hunters to 10 HUCs... and, adding autoattack

Would be great if people could donate to Domob for his work thus far Smiley... you can donate some to the HDF and state it's for domob if you like, and i'll send on to him, or he can post an address.

We are also working at the same time on Alternative Game client which will require no chain download and can be played on any system, - i.e. android/apple or browser -

We are basically complete on the Map process (all read only). It works extremely smoothly even with 50k objects on the map. There has been a delay due to many optimizations.

still working on some graphical stuff, but it's working, point and click, search, zoom to players, and works amazing on android.



forgot to add:

Fees to play will probably start off in HUCs, then other cryptos, then fiat..
and you will need to set a reward address ... (to begin with)

I know nothing about code, but couldn't the mechanism that keeps track of all your active hunters, couldn't it check when you press "new" and create the player and create a popup window or msg saying "you will be charged xx HUC to create a player" and check how many you have at that moment?

yes, but people can just run multiple clients or edit the code

you can't enforce on network level..
one idea (before we began) was you pay something like 100huc per name (would be like an account), then top it up with a special name update to add players, maybe in this case something is possible. but not now.

I am sure the little single player like me is in the minority to the bot armies, and once the mithrilman client adds some bot functions i'm sure i'll try using them, but I just think that 10 is a bit high. I might be in the minority. Personally, I think up to maybe 5 HUC might work. I say this all based mostly on the fact that I don't expect the price to stay this low to buy (0.000086 right now!). Obviously it's not too much to buy 10 HUC right now! =)

personally i will likely only return if the player fee is raised like 10x like you suggested
make teams actually valuable, so that people don't want to just blow them up the second they can grinch a couple of coins
why not just set a hard cap on the number of teams per wallet again? it would at least slow down the people running bots.
or maybe even a hard cap on the number of teams that can be controlled from any one IP address?

What about a higher fee (maybe not as high as 10 huc, but 5ish or a bit more) and adding a hunter? Like, a general and THREE hunters, instead of 2? I love playing the game, but unless things change so much that it is easier to get coins in the game, 10 coins can be half a days work or more for a guy with only a few hunters, and I imagine if you only buy 1 general (with 2 hunters) for 10 huc, how are you gonna get another 10 to the bank to create your 2nd general? Danm BGB bots ready to kill you on the way to the bank, unless you also create "blockers" to clear your path of enemies. I would be VERY hesitant to just create a guy to kill enemies if it cost so much. Am I making sense? I am really not trying to be a jerk, just asking serious questions. I stress that I really enjoy the game and spend much time sitting here staring at the map! =)

If you are playing when a disaster happens, it will probably be "good". You can create a new hunter team quick, and collect any dropped coins before everyone else knows a disaster happened.

i don't like the idea, because one funny aspect of the game is hunting for the crown, and if someone can grab it in no time, the problem will be the same as now, with an hunter holding that until next disaster

How do you figure? I am a single person, no bot army. I never have more than 10 players (20 hunters). If i found the crown, how would i defend it? everyone and their brother would see me and come after me

The HUC community was always very supportive and keen on helping new people get started. When the game first launched (before the bots took over) there was fewer people on the map and I was robbing people carrying over 100 HUC. Creating blockers was (and probably still is) a popular tactic.

It was so much fun to play back then and I had some memorable moments. One that really stood out was when I was chasing down a couple of green players named "East" (i think it was tuto's players) with 2, 2 man red teams of mine (Reddit and RedEye). He was calling out to people for help while avoiding me the whole time. I just said, "STOP RUNNING!" It was so funny I was laughing so hard I nearly fell out of my chair. It didn't even matter to me that he eventually out maneuvered my teams (i lost 2 suicide bombers) and got away in the end. It was epic! And, I was happy for him, really. If the game ever came back to that state (less people carrying more coins) I'd totally come back to play!

Is there any way of having more maps to choose from and limiting the amount of players per map?

because if you grab that in (e.g) red base, then a "rich" player can buy many red, send few yellow/blue/green to kill you then hold the crown in red base without problem, like what's happening now
