Yeah, Eligius has nothing to do with the scam messages that are sent.  They certainly just harvest addresses from our contributor list and send people free dust spam transactions.

*shrugs*  Nothing to worry about really.  Just don't fall for the scam, obviously.

But it's a free few bit cents to use for fees on a future transaction I guess. Tongue

Cuz she doesn't exist. Gotta submit it to St. Eligius instead.

If you've lost your luck, St. Anthony might be a better bet.

Can somebody remind me again why my estimated position in the payout queue keeps slipping as the days go by even if my hashrate and pool hashrate remain relatively constant? I understand it is an estimate, but why does the estimate get longer as bad luck increases?

I think it might be related to this:

"The Payout Queue prioritizes qualifying payouts based on their age (oldest earnings not yet paid). As you continue to mine, your balance increases and so do those ahead of you already in the Queue, so you may be bumped into the next found block chunk of payouts."

eligius.st/~gateway/faq-page#t13n27

If you are mining more consistently, with a good rig, often times smaller miners that haven't been paid in a long time seem to get pushed up to the top of the queue, as soon as they hit the minimum payout threshold.

ridonkulous. doesn't help the hashrate has been steadily decreasing either.
Must be greener grass somewhere else.

And where would that be? I don't know any other pool that doesn't take fees and is as good as this one.
Dat round luck though.

Thanks, but it doesn't quite explain why the Payout Queue changes during a period when no blocks are found. Unless of course the Payout Queue estimation uses as input the estimated earnings from the next block which is yet to be found.

Cleaned up some posts that were not helpful.

The payout queue can change constantly.  The top of the share log is never the same from moment to moment, due to variance, miners reaching their idle payout thresholds, etc.  The payout queue is a queue of all earned balances AND estimates for the current round.  So it's never constant.

I do need to get a manual payout done though, didn't realize it was that far behind.  My apologies.

As for the super long round.... this is definitely not a record I've been shooting to break. Undecided

While time-wise this is the longest round in Eligius history, it is not the most unlucky round.  That title goes to block #268,397 on 2013-11-07 with a luck of 10.7%, or 9.35x difficulty worth of shares.  The current round, as of this writing, is at about 6.62x difficulty shares.  A terrible round, for sure, but not the worst ever.  Just seems worse because the pool is such a smaller percentage of the network than it used to be.  Seems to mainly be due to various trolling about Eligius that I just don't have time to keep up with nor the patience to combat.  I suppose it makes sense for the other pools to poach users from Eligius when they profit so much every user.  *shrugs*

But, whatever.  I will continue to run Eligius indefinitely, down to the last miner.  Hopefully we can gain some more traction in this fight, but I'm unsure exactly where to put efforts to best serve that purpose.  I have many revisions and updates in store for the pool, including the best and most detailed public stats API ever conceived in the works.  It's been quite a long road, but I'm not about to just stand by while people leave Eligius and line the pockets of unscrupulous pool ops.  I've been fighting that fight since day 1 here, so no point in giving up now.  And keep in mind that I run Eligius 100% on donations, and I don't make a dime off of the pool besides my own normal mining (which is very little these days, admittedly).

Anyway, thank you to everyone who is sticking with us!  It means a lot.

-wk
