I really want to continue sticking it out with Eligius....  my hashrate may not be much but at least it's something in the pool..... but in all honesty, are we just too small to compete with the network difficulty now?  We are nearing 1600 hours without a block.... and I know luck has something to do with it but realistically is this more than just bad luck and just a pool that doesn't have enough power?  I'm by no means an expert on mining and pool operations so I'm genuinely asking this question for a discussion and I am absolutely not meaning it as any kind of attack.....  I'm just curious as to the logistics at play here.

Looks like we finally found a block!  (1,624 hour round... sheesh)

Unfortunately, the stats database is going crazy trying to calculate the stats for it given the huge round time.  Admittedly, I didn't take 2-month long rounds into account when designing the stats... might take quite a while before it shows up on the stats (currently erroneously shows as orphaned/stale because it's still processing...).  I'll probably manually flag it at some point if it doesn't finish.  The reward system (core server) is much more robust and had no issue updating its own internal data.  Balances should be correct and such on the stats, just the block list and round stats are broken until stats DB finishes compiling data.  Doesn't affect mining at all, just a stats slowdown.

On that note, I'm going to use this block (446827) as the cut point for the CPPSRB reward system.  CPPSRB is going to be offline as of now.  I'm also going to get a final payout for Eligius-Ra done within the next 24-hours or so.  Everything will switch to Eligius-Hu (next iteration of Eligius's backend) seamlessly at that time.  So, any shares submitted from this point forward will be on the new reward system, which I will detail very soon.  Suffice it to say it is a low variance high accuracy (no shifts) variant of PPLNS, zero fee as always, and with some added benefits for Eligius miners.  I've been calling it SAPPLNS in my code.  I'll also start bringing new front-end things online over the next couple of weeks.

As a variant of PPLNS, the new system will inherit the top of the CPPSRB share log as a starting point.  However, while the CPPSRB share log is essentially unlimited in size the new share log is finite.  As much as it pains me to do so, this marks the end of reward hope for very old SMPPS and CPPSRB shelved shares.  This move will increase overall profitability for miners who have continued to support Eligius, as well as having no potential drawback for new miners joining Eligius.  All of this, combined Eligius's continued zero-fee mining, plus the help of some new features of this new reward system should make it possible for Eligius miners to have profitability greater than any other pool.  This has been many months in the making, and I'm still not done with some of the best features.  So there's only better things ahead from now on.

Anyway, I'll do a full official announcement of the changes probably tomorrow night.  Until then!

Finally.
However, my payout was lower than expected.
Got only about 0.005BTC for ~2.7Ghs hashing power. I was expecting something like 0.01BTC at least.
A rough calculation would be 12.5BTC x 2.7Ghs / 1981Ghs = 0.017BTC.

Your numbers are way wrong.
Eligius hash rate is roughly about 1900 Th/s, which equals 1900000 Gh/s.

Those numbers are wrong anyway because Eligius doesn't use a straight proportional reward system... plus the last round was terribly unlucky.  Pool can't pay more than it generates.

The numbers are correct, I just misspelled ghs for ths.
Regarding the luck issue, it does not make sense to me, since if we get a block @1000% luck I should get paid 10x the estimated amount, like 0.1BTC which of course wont happen.

This thinking stems from a misunderstanding of pool reward systems.   No pool does this, and pools that used to were exploited (hopped) into oblivion.

It looks like for some reason I dropped out of the payout queue despite having a balance that is double my payout value.  Most of the day today it was saying I was in the queue with a 4 block delay but now it's back to saying it will take at least another few seconds.  I've been having issues with this type of message for months.  My address is 17cGThFYDLMnG4yHcZZm2yy81c6iToCJU3.

Final payouts for Eligius-Ra has been made.

The payouts (to nearly 6000 addresses) were done in the transactions below.  Anyone with a balance of 1 TBC (0.00065536 BTC) or more was paid.  Balances lower than this (normally lower than 2 TBC was to be donated to the pool) were instead paid to the share log (distributed to other miners).

Unfortunately, this took a lot longer than I would have liked to get all completed, so I wont get to finish my big write up tonight... but it is done.  Eligius officially has zero BTC in funds owed to miners now.  I'll detail more on this tomorrow, but I think everyone will be pleased with this.

As mentioned, Eligius-Hu has taken over and will be fleshed out over the coming days.  I've been sparse on the details of the new system intentionally due to fears of other pools (with high fee income and thus possibly more means) taking the concept and claiming it for themselves.  For now, all shares are being processed and handled under the new reward system.  The old stats page are somewhat accurate for hash rates, but balances wont update until the new stats are brought online.  To be clear, mining is still being counted.

For now I'll note that the underlying reward system for Eligius-Hu is based partly on PPLNS with N=diff*8.  There are no shifts.  This is true PPLNS.  To solve the ramp up issue with the large N I've utilized the top of the CPPSRB share log as a starting point.  Again, even though the new stats are not online, mining is still being counted and you will be rewarded as blocks are found.

For the record, the new Eligius-Hu block tracker address is 1LfZEyNADY4A9thHu8rTh6Psd5FecMPgJ8.

Have to get some rest, but I will get my announcement done tomorrow!

Thanks! I was surprised I received a payout. I was well below the payout threshold and wasn't expecting anything. I also don't think I had mined any shares in ages...

Cheers,

Did you ever do that payout from a few years ago due to the block withholding attach? I was owed some dust, but a group I was mining with was owed probably close to BTC.05 not real money but still something.

I haven't mined on Eligius since early 2014 and received a payout.  Had I known I even had a balance, I would have told you to keep it as a donation wizkid057.  At 0.0007BTC it certainly isn't much, but a satoshi is a satoshi.

Do you have a donation address for me to send this back to?

Thanks!

My understanding is this is a one time clean up of old lingering rewards?  I mined about 2 months ago here but noticed that in the monitoring after I stopped the rewards all slowly went to zero.  I did end up getting some left though and was paid this morning.

Most cloud mining operations are Ponzi schemes. Please steer clear and do LOTS of research before sending your money to any operation that promises hash power for sale. A few mining rig rental operations are legit. Be careful.
