2 Days before xmas, new years, winter holidays, lot of people won't be in time to update theyr wallet  

The mandatory part was not our choice,
there is a bug in the old wallet code that freezes the network after block # 1051200 .
If we had not updated the zeit network would have frozen in place.
That is why Mintcoin crashed and they only updated theirs after their network had been down for days.
Thanks to the Amazing efforts of Rent_A_Ray , our new wallet is ready 11 days before we hit block #1051200,
if you are on version 2.0.1.3 or 2.0.1.4 , the update is very easy , just download the new wallet and install and you are done. Our Block Explorers & Coinpayments are already updated.

No Worries , the more people that update the better, but we have plans in place no matter what happens.
Anyone who does not update will not gain interest after block #1051200 until they update their wallet.

"URGENT: Update your Wallet instantly. You have 10 Minutes from now on. Outdated accounts will be deleted."

5mins later everyone is on the client.

Your Post scared me so bad , I was looking for the update and I already have it running.

... if you are on version 2.0.1.3 or 2.0.1.4 , the update is very easy , just download the new wallet and install and you are done.

Is it really that easy with 2.0.1.4? I just click on install and my wallet is updated automatically? I don't have to copy and paste the old .dat file into the new? If it is that simple I'll do that.

I'm a non-techie with Windows 7. I decided to download the whole shebang of the blockchain. Syncing stopped a few times as normal with alts. I closed and opened the wallet to speed up and continue syncing , but messages popped up a saying things like "fatal error" and then disappear a second later - then the wallet continued to sync. Every time I open and close the wallet I keep getting error messages - not all the same though. The messages say things like "st13" - "runtime error" - "replace files" and  disappear almost instantly. Is this likely to continue when the wallet is synced?

Should I abort the sync and start all over again?

(Happened again just now. "Exception. Fatal error. st13 - application will close now", but the wallet kicks back in and continues to sync.)

Yes, it really is that easy

You just have to replace the 'old' walletQT .exe with the 'new' one and that's it!

G.W.S. that you should backup the .dat then close the wallet before replacing the .exe but no need to do anything with the AppData files or to re-sync the blockchain if updating from 2.0.1.3 or 2.0.1.4

This sounds like a broken wallet.dat.

Thanks Ray. We are really lucky to have you, Kiklo and Lion on board.

My old wallet works fine and all the files are intact. I have backups of the .dat file. Rather than mess about too much, I'm going to delete the new installation which is on a separate User account. Then download the new QT wallet file to my Old wallet User account > Unzip it to the desktop > Click on the new .exe  file> and hopefully that should update automatically.

One question - do I delete the old QT.exe before installing or will I have to do that after?

You can overwrite your old executable.
Copy your working wallet.dat to: C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Zeitcoin\ and delete everything except:

wallet.dat
peers.dat

Just a small indication of how good 2105 will be for us:-

Overnight, on Comkort, 150,000 Zeit were purchased (most of them mine ) pushing the price to 130 litoshis. (The proceeds went straight into buy support @ 82 & 83)

It won't take much to get us out of LTC forever, and back where we belong, BTC only.
