Hello all, where is exchange trade guncoin? I see at CMC not found guncoin. Why team not have plan to add CMC?

Guncoin is traded on Cryptopia, SouthXchange, Enmanet and Nova Exchange.  We have been on CMC in the past, they took us off when Cryptopia put us in Maintenance Mode.

Will guncoin MN be added to the GIN platform for ease of setup?

That is a possibility, they will not be hard to set up.  There are other websites that can also help set them up.

Masternode set up are not difficulty. There is a learning curve, but with the hundreds of similar guides, it would do well to figure it out.

Whether or not guncoin has a script, the steps are quite simple:

1. Buy (rent) a VPS, usually 1 GB RAM and whatever amount of space and bandwidth, and 1 vCPU.
2. Install Linux, usually Ubuntu because a whole bunch of alts recommend that, usually 16.xx.xx (at this point in time, maybe in a couple of years it will be 18.xx.xx)
3. Download the wallet or daemon, run, sync, configure confs.

It's a little bit more involved than that, you still have to generate the masternode keys and stuff, but it's pretty straight forward once you figure it out. You control your masternodes from a local wallet at home, preferably set up on a VM or other machine solely for that purpose.

Alternatively, you can probably run them at home, especially if Tor is allowed. Some coins have bridges that run over Tor, so you can use .onion addresses instead of ipv4 or ipv6 addresses.

Some of the hosting services like Apollon or GIN -- the cost for shared node is ~$3/mo. Vultr, Digital Ocean, etc is $5/mo usually for IPv4 VPS. Unless you're planning on squeezing in more than one masternode (if multiple ports are allowed), then you can save money by loading 3 masternodes on one VPS.

Personally, I won't ever support GUNCOIN again. The Telegram staff was completely rude (more like trollish). I sold off all my GUNCOIN.

Sorry to hear that. I am not aware of any issues in Telegram (I'm not staff) and I don't use Telegram actually.

You do have to look at the fundamentals of the coin though.

As for the VPS, you can get cheaper ones at $1 / month, but the reliability of those might a little lower, it just means you have to watch your node. Or you can run it at home if Guncoin masternodes are allowed to use a Tor (.onion) address.

Well, I would not go with $1/mo - you want something that is pretty reliable.  Vultr, digital ocean, etc. have everything you need for $5/mo and you can probably get 2 MN on one of those.  We are in the process of getting 6 MN operational right now for testing.  Will let you know how it goes......

Yes, the masternode project is still in work, but getting near to completion very soon. Our developer/programmer put a screenshot up on the Telegram page and also the Discord channel - so check those out when you getthe chance.  There's quite a lot of changes in the Qt front-end and the Dash source for Masternodes does not map directly to the latest version of Bitcoin on which Guncoin is based.  This then involves refactoring the Masternode code to work with the Bitcoin 0.17 codebase. The masternode code spans several layers of tech that comprise Bitcoin which has been a lengthier than expected process. But is progressing well and will be complete and ready soon.

I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but Dash does not like to work over Tor, however many other masternode forks do work with Tor. This means you can use an .onion address instead of an ipv4 (or ipv6) address for the masternode. Hopefully, this is something that will work on Guncoin.

Looks like the SSL certificate for the official pool has expired. Can someone look into this?

Since I work in the Internet security field, I'm always leery of logging into sites with invalid or expired certificates, even more so when it comes to cryptocurrency.

We will look in to it.....

I see that this is fixed. Thanks for the quick response!

Has the SSL certificate for guncoinpool.com expired again? I'm seeing a warning in various browsers.

OK, our Masternode project is progressing nicely - a bit more complex than we first thought, but we have seen nodes running now in test and distributions made properly, we we are going to start slowly updating the website to include masternode information and publishing bits and pieces of what will eventually be the Guncoin Masternode Tutorial.

Masternodes will be paid by the Guncoin network for the PrivateSend, InstantSend and governance services they provide. 47.5% of the block reward will be paid out to the Masternodes, 47.5% to the Proof of Work miners and 5% to a developers’ fund that may be used for Guncoin upgrades/enhancements or donations to specific Second Amendment related organizations.  In practice, half of the reward from a normal block will go to the PoW miner and half to the Masternode.  Masternodes are selected for payment in each block (approximately every 2 minutes) from the Masternode list, and moved to the back of the list after payment. As more Masternodes are created, the duration between payments increases.  If the collateral behind a Masternode is spent, or if a Masternode stops providing services to the Guncoin Network for more than an hour, it is removed from the list until normal service resumes. In this way, Masternodes are given incentive to provide efficient and reliable services to the network.

Guncoin Masternode Requirements¶
• 200,000 GUN: Guncoin can be obtained from exchanges such as Cryptopia, SouthXchange, Enmanet and Nova Exchange.
• Server or VPS (Linux): Most recent guides use Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. We recommend VPS services such as Vultr and DigitalOcean, although any decent provider will do.
• Dedicated IP address: These usually come with the VPS/server.
• Optionally, there are Masternode service providers who will setup and maintain your Guncoin Masternode for a monthly fee. We will provide some links to these soon.

In addition to the 200,000 GUN held in collateral, Masternodes also have minimum hardware requirements. As of the current version, these requirements are as follows:
    Minimum / Recommended
CPU:    1x 1 GHz / 1x 2 GHz
RAM:   2 GB / 4 GB
Disk:    20 GB / 40 GB
Network:   400 GB/month / 1 TB/month

We estimate that the Guncoin Masternode monthly bandwidth use will range from 250-400 GB and may grow as the Guncoin network expands.

Two of the most important features that will be included with GUN Core 2.0 are the Private Send and InstantSend features.   These are both huge for GUN owners and a big step forward to becoming an easier payment mechanism for gun shop owners.

The PrivateSend feature adds a new level of privacy to Guncoin transactions by adding multiple identical inputs from multiple users and then sending them to multiple outputs. Since the transaction flow cannot be traced, the privacy of the transaction is maintained. PrivateSend uses the fact that a transaction can be formed by multiple parties and made out to multiple parties to merge funds together in a way where they cannot be uncoupled thereafter. Given that all Guncoin PrivateSend transactions are setup for users to pay themselves, the system is highly secure against theft and users coins always remain safe. Currently, to mix using PrivateSend, requires at least three participants.

InstantSend
Overview

The InstantSend feature now significantly increases the speed of all Guncoin transaction. As everyone knows, Bitcoin transaction time are typically really long. In fact, the transaction time is such a problem in Bitcoin that it was recently dropped by Stripe as a mode of payment. The new Guncoin InstantSend feature solves this problem via near instant transactions.

Compared to Bitcoin
First, how do transactions in Bitcoin work? Well let's say tha Bill wants to send 1 BTC to Bob and creates a Bitcoin transaction. A transaction is basically a message to the miners which states his intention to go through with the transaction. The miners then validate the transaction and put the details in the block which completes it. Bob then gets the 1 BTC.

The reason why it is important for miners to do the validation process is to make sure that it is indeed Bill who initiated the transaction and to make sure that there are no double spends.

What is double spending?
Double spending basically means spending the exact same coin on more than one transactions at the same time. This problem is circumnavigated because of miners. In a blockchain, transactions happen only when miners put the transactions in the blocks that they have mined.

Now suppose, Bill was to send 1 bitcoin to Bob and then she sends the same coin to Charlie, the miners would put in one transaction inside the block and, in the process, overwrite the other one, preventing double spending in the process.
So, how does Dash circumnavigate the double spending problem while sending near instant transactions?

So let’s go through the steps of the Guncoin InstantSend.
Everytime a block is mined in Guncoin, the miner sends the hash of the block to the network. The hash of the block is used to select a quorum of Masternodes. 10 masternodes are in one quorum.

The quorum, between now and the time that the next block is mined (~2.0 mins), becomes the “InstantSend authority” of the Guncoin Network. So, suppose Bill wants to send Bob 100 Guncoin via InstantSend, the selected quorum will lock in the inputs of the transaction and broadcast the input details.
This locking ensures that double spending is prevented. Suppose Bill wants to send the same input to Charles and initiates a double spend, since the inputs have already been broadcasted, the network will reject the new transaction.

Both the sender and the receiver then receive 6 confirmations of the transaction within a second which ensures that the transaction has gone through.

Here is a more information about the Cryptopia situation.  While it is unfortunate, know that we did re-supply them with enough GUN to re-pay all coins from the hack on GUN after updating the code.  So in due time, we hope and believe that GUN owners who have coins on Cryptopia will get most or all of them back.

This is just a great reminder why you should never keep your crypto on exchanges. Instead, transfer from your exchange wallet to a private wallet.
