Well, we have to understood we are not dealing with crytpo traders and bitcoin birthed crytpo, huge difference. I agree that less is better, but our generation is more visual. My input would be that when I open up the page I know I am looking at a currency I can buy guns with. Look at http://bitcoinfast.co/ . All someone really needs to know is name, specifications, pools and wallet. On a positive note, the Users guide is nice, push that, I dont know of many out there with that and a really good way to go into detail if someone wants to dig into coin. All that info does not necessarily have to be on the home page. If it is setup right, the crawlers will index that users guide and tag all relevant info, you already have #2 position on Google when searching Gun coin, so SEO is an non issue.

Websites are cheap to get done. Cost is not an issue. If you are getting big price quotes, you better shop around. You can outsource that stuff on places like fiverr.com for almost nothing

I agree it needs to load fast but we are past dial up age and bandwidth is non issue for a few simple graphics and GIFs.

just some ideas my friend. I promise you I am for cryptos moving forward without cheap gimmicks and most certainly a strong advocate for our 2nd Amendment Rights.

You can bet on this, to get the community to rally around the coin, LISTEN TO THEM. The mentality "build it and they will come" does not work with many new coins being birthed everyday. I am here to help

Funny you should mention BCF..  I mined a bit of that in the beginning, then the wallet disconnected and I forgot all about it.  It had this hokey thing, where you had to leave the wallet unlocked in order to multiply or something like that.  So, you posted the link and I decided to take a look, and this is all I got..
Code:
We're sorry, but something went wrong.

The issue has been logged for investigation. Please try again later.

BCF is still hokey, I'm glad I wasn't holding out for a miracle!!   Tongue

You make very good points about the website, bandwidth isn't an issue for most people, its implementations of java, etc, so simply avoiding that will alleviate a lot of the issues, and bloat as well since java gets bloated easily.  And I had thought about going to fiverr myself to have some videos made for the website.

As far as Guncoin intended customers, I got involved for exactly that purpose.  I'm pro-2A, own a few guns and use them whenever I get a chance.  I'm also a miner and crypto trader, so I see both sides of it.  I was part of the dev team before work started taking up 60 to 80 hours a week, and there wasn't time for it anymore.  What I was aiming us toward, was ease of use for non techies.  I had even scoped out tablets running windows, so that they could be used as a point of sale unit with a regular wallet, and cost under $100 so the investment to use it was small.  Even so, that would have been too complicated for many people, this is why I'm convinced that the online wallet is critical.

I have a question about the Automatic Checkpointing tech. --- Does this help to prevent involuntary chain splitting, or is it only to protect against 51% attacks?

It is designed to prevent a 51% attack - there is a more thorough explanation on the website FAQ and one of several new features included to protect the coin and/or the users.

Well, continuing to move Guncoin down the path that our roadmap has laid out, Bushstar will be getting started on GUN V1.4 later this week.  It should be ready to go about a week or so after the fork at 840,000 for V1.3 next week kicks in.

This new version (GUN V1.4) will incorporate substantial content from Bitcoin Core 0.11, 0.12 and 0.13 and make GUN very technologically current with most coins on the exchanges today.  Additionally, there will be some small adjustments to our reward model which has been incomplete in my mind since day 1, along with a few other minor updates that we will give more details on as time permits.

For now, it is important to get you and everyone you know onto GUN V1.3.  Keep in mind that we are doing these incremental changes to make sure the blockchain stays stable and there are no issues before movng forward with each new build. We are not really comforatable doing too much at once and want to make sure GUN is safe, stable and secure before taking the next step with each upgrade to our code - even though V1.4 will incorpoarate a lot more than V1.2 and V1.3 combined.

So far, the user numbers on V1.3 look very good now as we move everything forward!  Again, thanks so much for your patience,support and the financial support from TheSignsGuy and Damn315er for helping fund this upcoming upgrade.

Well, I got woken up to take a look at an outage for work, so I took a peek at the exchange when I had a few minutes.

There was a nice little run-up last night, and the belief in Gun is still strong.  6 mill Gun for sale, and close to 4 BTC in buys.   Grin

Will the fork mean anything to us? ie - possible halt or wallet lock at Cryptopia??

Will the fork mean anything to us? ie - possible halt or wallet lock at Cryptopia??

1.1->1.2 did not impede cryptopia
1.2->1.3 did not either

I suspect 1.3->1.4 will not either. Cryptopia has been surprisingly helpful when it comes to GUN update forks, usually they tell people to piss off and relist if they do even simple chain maintenance.

That all is correct - Cryptopia has been a great exchange for GUN and are very good to work with.  Their issues stem from excessive growth way beyond what they ever imagined  and trying to catch up with it.  I have confidence that they will take care of us when the time comes.

In regards, to the fork, V1.3 is already fully operational if you have it loaded.  The fork at 840,000 only covers one thing.  We were not comfortable making it start right with the loading of it, so put the delay in.  It is a soft fork and no issue for anyone running V1.2 still.  But it is a hard fork and major issue for anyone still running V1.1 who could be orphaned from the rest of us.

As for V1.4, the goal is to make it a soft fork for V1.3 users.  However, with as much that we plan to put in to it, there is a possibility it could be a hard fork - that is not clear yet.  Once it is fully coded, we will know for sure and confirm it when it is tested.

Well, any time anyone spends 0.5 BTC on any coin it is a big deal - glad they chose to buy GUN with it......

There are actually 3 guncoin logo's.

The original gold crossed rifles, which is getting phased out.

The red/black Scope G, that replaced it and is my preference.

The new typical crypto-coin logo in copper, silver & gold, that I despise.

The official logo for Guncoin (GUN) is this......there is only one now.

It is simple and easy to reproduce and is also very easy to recognize on any site that shows it.  We have actually had it available since day one.  Any others are considered Guncoin artwork that may be used.  When we are placed on a new site, sometimes they ask us for our logo and sometimes they do not.  Sometimes we never hear about it till later and they grab whatever artwork they like.  But the red/black logo is what we consider the official logo moving forward.  If you see it incorrect anywhere, feel free to let them know and point to this thread.

Additionally, we have Guncoin (gold/silver coin)  and token (gold & silver & copper tokens) artwork that are also is use.  You can see picture of all of them in our Users Guide.

Man the current official GUN logo is the absolute best imo.  Wish it appeared on the GUN coinmarketcap info page.
