The only sad thing is that Tucker was not able to get his century and Ross Adair was not able to get his half century. This was a great performance from Ireland in this match. Austria had no chance. Ireland was able to win the match by 128 runs. This takes Ireland to the first place on the standings and they also have huge positives on the net run rate.

Scotland is also going to follow in the footsteps of Ireland very soon. But as we know two teams are going to qualify. So I don’t think there is anything for either of them to worry about. Both of them are going to qualify. It is almost certain.

^^^ Apart from Scotland and Ireland, Italy was the only team who had the capability to qualify. But their chances took a hit when they lost the first match against Ireland. It was a close match and Italy floundered a rare chance to defeat one of the full member sides. And this time, Italy had a squad that was mostly comprised of natives. Out of the 11 players, I could count only 2 expats and other 9 were natives. On the other hand, Austria didn't had a single native in their squad, while Danmark only had 2-3 natives.

BTW, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier is also taking place at Port Moresby. A total of 4 countries are taking part and Papua New Guinea is likely to secure qualification from this region.

Hopefully they will prove themselves in the 2024 World Cup and qualify for the main stage of the World Cup.

The reason is simple ICC has started giving them the recognition that they deserve and their boards are now more focused than they were in the past. Why these boards are now focused because there is too much money in stake now. I checked the last year Google trends and was suprised to see T20 world cup and IPL being the most searched events. IPL is already bigger than many football league as of now and the way it is going it might become bigger than English premier league. The reason behind two of the worlds biggest populated countries watch IPL, the first one being India and the second one being Pakistan. India has already surpassed China to become the most populated country in the world and Pakistan is the 5th most populated country as of now. A lot of Indians and Pakistanis have settled in these European countries which is why cricket is getting the recognition that it deserved in those countries.

Austria are new to the game of cricket and they haven't been very good so far whereas Ireland is a well-known name in the game of cricket so it is only natural that Ireland can win the match very well against Austria.  Austria scored 98 runs against Ireland, that's a lot.  So it is not right to neglect them.  They will also be able to play well at some point.
