Major League Cricket (MLC) is about to get started in the United States, in around 24 hours from now. After several failed attempts to start a high-profile cricket league within the United States, finally the organizers managed to come up with a competition with some of the top players around the world. IPL franchises are owners of some of the teams. Out of a total of 6 teams, three (Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York and Texas Super Kings) are owned by IPL franchises. But I am a bit skeptical whether all this investment will result in an increase in popularity of cricket within the United States.

@Sithara007 if they have spend heavily on advertising their league then yea they can get solid ROI because without proper marketing even if they would have hosted IPL then that too would have failed. Furthermore US has lots of scope for cricket to flourish but it needs proper marketing and only then will they see the US citizens come out in huge number’s even on a weekday.

Today is the 3rd T20 match between these two teams. Srilanka won the toss and elected to field first. New Zealand already played its turn. And gave target of 141 runs to Srilanka team. This is a good target and little bit difficult to chase. And now Srilanka started its turn and started with a good move. They made 11 runs in first over.
This match is going to be interested. So let's see what will happen?

After losing two matches in a row, Sri Lanka took revenge in the third match against New Zealand. The Sri Lankan women's team entered the field in the third T20 against New Zealand with the fear of a whitewash. It is actually a little surprising for me that Sri Lankan women did very well. They did not face almost any problems at all. They did very well in the bowling and they did incredible in the batting. They almost had a perfect match in this one. But at the same time, I think we can say that New Zealand did not take things very seriously in this match probably. Otherwise, I think they should have performed really well. But at the same time, we have to give credit where credit is due. Sri Lankan women did very well in this match and they have proved that when they are playing well they are able to beat almost any team.

This was a one sided match which was won quite easily by the Srilankan Women's team. In fact, they won it by 10 wickets. New Zealand team batting first scored 140 runs. At that moment, it seems that they had a competitive total but later they way Srilanka women team batted, it was a different game altogether.

Chamari Athapaththu remain not out at 80 and he was supported by Samarawickrama who scored 49 and both of these girls won the match for the Srilanka. Though NZ had already won the series, so this loss won't hurt them much.

Sri Lanka Women's team is slowly improving. It is hoped that if this continues, this group will become stronger in the next few years. And will challenge teams like Australia/England.

Sri Lanka had the home advantage and several of their players are participating in the WPL and other franchise leagues around the world. They won the third match after losing the first two, which means that New Zealand women had an away series win by a margin of 2-1. And in the third match also, New Zealand women put up a good total. Sri Lanka won the match only due to the good opening partnership. Anyway, the ODI series was won by Sri Lanka with a margin of 2-1. So it is not all doom and gloom for the Lankan women.

^^ Not sure if Srilankan Women players got any chance in the WPL, as far as i remember a fair amount of players did register in WPL but no one got picked by franchises.

Even their batting star Chamari Athapaththu (skipper) went unsold in the auction, which upsets many for the right reasons.

^^^ OK... I was generalizing. I was hinting that Lankan women have a number of players who take part in franchise T20 leagues around the world. Chamari Athapaththu has represented Perth Scorchers Women and Melbourne Renegades Women in the WBBL, as well as Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in the WCPL. She also represented the Super Women in WPSL exhibition matches. Don't know much about the other players though. I remember Udeshika Prabodhani participating in the FairBreak Invitational Tournament a few months back.

After losing the home series, there was a big chance of a whitewash in front of Sri Lanka as Sri Lanka women lost the first two matches by a good margin to the New Zealand women team so the third match was likely to be won by New Zealand but the third match was assured due to the excellent performance of the opening wicket pair. It happened in Sri Lanka. The third match was an honor match for Sri Lanka as if they had lost the third match then Sri Lanka would have been whitewashed in the T20 series. If Sri Lanka had won the first match or the second match they would have had a chance to win the series but they failed to do so.

Both the teams are performing very well but Bangladesh bowling Sultana Khatun collected two wickets in 4 overs. India women's batting performance is very good they have already collected 90 runs in 16 overs. After winning the toss in the last t20 match against Bangladesh and deciding to bat first, the Indian women's team managed to get 101 runs on their scoreboard after playing 19 overs so far. 

Indian women team did a bit better than the second T20 match because in the second T20 match we saw the Indian women team failed to score 100 runs. 

India women's team will play stress-free cricket against Bangladesh today as they have already won the T20I series by defeating Bangladesh in the first two matches. The third T20I is very important for Bangladesh as if they lose the third match they will be whitewashed by India at home.

In the second T20 match, the target was very low and despite coming very close to victory, Bangladesh women failed to win. So even today it is not possible to say what Bangladeshi women can do. But if the target can bat patiently and take single runs regularly, Bangladeshi girls can win.

In today's 3rd T20 match of Bangladesh Women vs India Women team, India Women came out to bat first. India Women set a target of 102 runs in 20 overs. Today's match started a tough fight between the two teams. Rabeya Khan of Bangladesh team bowled 4 overs with 16 runs.  Took 3 wickets. Today's match Rabeya Khan did a great performance in the bowling line. Bangladesh now came out to bat. 29 runs in 6.1 overs. So far Bangladesh Women lost 2 strong wickets. Dilara Akter was out for 1 run in 7 balls.  Shathi Rani was out for 10 runs off 9 balls. The batsmen of Bangladesh Women team are under a lot of pressure for the good performance of the bowlers of India Women team.

As of now, the match is more or less evenly posed, with India at a slight advantage. For their credit, the Indian women put up a respectable total of 102/9 after a decent partnership between Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues. None of the other batters scored more than 15, as Bangladeshi bowlers were well disciplined. And the third wicket partnership between Shamima Sultana and Nigar Sultana has so far added 37 runs for the third wicket. If Bangladesh want to win, then these two need to stay there for at least 4-5 overs more.

Fair enough but New Zealand Women got more experience in comparison to Lankans, as far as franchise cricket is concerned.

Having said that after looking at the complete series, it looks like both teams are miss and hit.

In the end India Women managed to score 102 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Indian woman batting did not do well today. Bangladesh women bowled brilliantly, Rabeya Khan bowled brilliantly and took 3 wickets. 102 run off just 120 balls today which is very easy in T20 format. But it seems very difficult for Bangladesh to score 102 runs. We saw in the second match that Bangladesh managed to score 87 runs after going into bat against a target of 96 runs. Today, Bangladesh Women came down to bat in a target of 102 and scored 46 runs by taking 2 wickets in 10 overs. Bangladesh Women need 57 runs from 60 balls.
