Discussion TOPIC: Nigerians run to crypto amid falling naira, Bitcoin P2P trading surge by 258% in 7 days
Source: https://nairametrics.com/2022/07/28/nigerians-run-to-crypto-amid-falling-naira-bitcoin-p2p-trading-surge-by-258-in-7-days/?amp=1

Quote
Many Nigerians are hedging against collapsing local currency by amassing dollar-denominated digital assets, in particular stablecoins and bitcoins, thereby causing the fiat local currency (naira) to plunge to a record low in the black market.

According to recent data, Nigerians traded over $5 million worth of Bitcoin on the popular P2P trading website  Paxful, and LocalBitcoins saw a 258% increase from last week’s data.

Many Nigerians nonetheless exchange the digital currency in the peer-to-peer market where transactions are priced in dollars, despite the fact that banks are forbidden by the central bank from aiding cryptocurrency transactions.

In addition, information gathered from foreign exchange dealers in various areas of Lagos, the country’s commercial centre, revealed that the Naira was exchanged for the dollar on Wednesday at a rate above N710 to the dollar, while the hard currency was purchased from holders at a rate between N695 and N700 to the dollar.

The news no complete here as no be my areas of concentration for the discussion I wan make we reason. So my question na be say, shey the government they find solution to use decrease this alarming increase in dollar rate and from the looks of things, crypto trading na one of the major driving force of the surge in price of dollars. So you dey think say the government go even support the idea of Nigeria welcoming crypto trading for the country or the government go dey fear say e go continue they contribute to expose their yansh say the government no know wetin dem dey do.

Las las if you look very well you go see say the country don collapse if you get spiritual eyes. One of the signs to know this small small collapse apart from insecurity na devaluation of the currency. As the Naira just speedily dey run down no surprise me shey and this time be the fastest wey Naira dey drop with huge margin. Dem no get choice, you go see when one of dem go still advise demselves say make dem unban the banks regarding crypto trading maybe e go help the Naira lol. Naira dey fall like this when dem never even stop the paper naira to circulate, wetin go come happen if dem come finally stop paper say make the country go e-naira I tire for the people. But why Naira no go collapse when the country no dey produce anything but to depend on importation of the finished products wey dem export as raw material, electricity no dey , boko haram dey disturb and kill farmers, herdsmen dey disturb with their cow wey dey chop crops. Which one we want talk self. Las las dem go still welcome crypto trading.

As things be so, whether government welcome crypto trading or not, Nigerians go continue to they involved in am, it is legal in our country, the only thing wey them do na to ban Naija banks them from processing crypto transactions, but crypto/crypto trading they go on without any trouble for here, the government fit no like am, and them fit no they in support of am, but so long as say e they legal, e no concern anybody wey they into crypto/crypto trading.

Having said that, me i no believe say crypto trading too get hand for wetin they do our currency and economy, na our government so wey no they make good decisions and policies wey go promote economic growth, wetin we know na to they import, but we no dy export anything, consumption without production go lead to economic gbese na, what about debt, we they borrow money wey them no they use develop the country, putting the nation in debt without any better project for ground wey go produce money to repay the loan. Naija problem big pass crypto biko, we need to go back to the drawing board/root cause of our poblem, or else, na suffering music we go continue to they dance to.

The earth is dying, glaciers and sea ice are melting as a result of global warming, soon the planet may become uninhabitable to live in.
You must have seen some sci-fi movies and how they depict the earth to be in like a decade more with more technology and less safer atmosphere that has been damaged by pollution, over population etc. You fit just dey look am like wayo film, but the truth na say dem dey use style dey show us how dem dey see say the world go be with all the doings currently...Na all this kind things Elon Musk dun consider nai make am am dey quick quick dey talk about making another planet habitable.

If conscious efforts are not made to slow down the destruction of our atmosphere and environment by us all, the predictions from those sci-fi movies may soon be our reality, though i doubt many of us may be alive to witness it, except our kids.

My chairman @CryptoprenuerBrainboss we go understand say Nigeria no be a nation wey the leaders really care about the country itself, the naira is really devaluing and that is becoming very alarming but rather than source for means to tackle it the government always make the wrong move, we have seen them even once threatening Ali baba exchange because of the value they placed the naira at. I can say that Nigeria is not a country that the leaders want to welcome Crypto-currency.

Well I no think say 9ja government go look up to cryptocurrency for survival of it currency, as we all know the Nigerian government are only good at playing blame games. Before the recent fall of naira to 718 naira to $1 if you recall this is not the first time a drastic fall like this will happen to our currency but yet CBN can not come up with a holistic framework that will protect the naira from free fall each time there is any little global forex changes.
Truth be told the CBN governor blamed the recent crash of naira against the dollar on NNPC none remittances of oil revenue and bureau De change (BDC) for this recent fall against the dollar, but as a global market economy suffered a major set back in the last week, we saw how the dollar gain against it other trading Piers in the market and even Bitcoin lost a significant percentage to that market situation too.
So for CBN to blame both NNPC and DBC operators for that situation look like a misplaced priority and also the capability of CBN to provide a sustainable environment for the Naira to strengthen against other currencies.
So to me, the Central bank will still blame cryptocurrency if they discovered that a large volume of trades are being carried out through p2p crypto trading and that will even lead to more harsh decisions on cryptocurrency operation in Nigeria because the government officials do not have the necessary capacity to control its currency against other external forces that are evident in cryptocurrency tradings so they may give a blanket order on cryptocurrency. Before the primaries of political parties most especially APC we were hoping that a candidate that is pro-digital technology and economy will emerge as the flag bearer but then that hope was dashed out when the big wings took over things.

Nothing good go fit come out of our 9ja..... Na Fvck nation Make every Man just dey on Guard... Labour party or not same cycle of theft and money laundering more likely to continue next year ahead. Make we just dey hope for the best kwa if not all of wetin CBN do yarn nah dust!
Some body been say make them die, na wetin Dem deserve bcoz change never come till now, imagine politician get watch weh worth 1 billion naira. Fvck nation!

Ornah Good Morning n Happy New Month. Na four months left make we use am wisely.

I know say we get undergraduates for here, i believe say una don hear the news, ASUU hold meeting today and them don reach agreement say the strike go continue indefinitely, this new week wey we enter so go make am two weeks now since Mr President give minister of education order say make the baba end the strike in two weeks, i see no sense in that though, instead of Mr President to attend to the demands of the union, the baba they give order to minister to end the strike, how is the minister going to make it possible, it just shows lack of desire and interest on the part of our government to do anything about this industrial action by ASUU even after many months of students sitting at home.

Wetin una think about this matter so, you believe say this strike fit reach next year, abi our government no go like make students they for house as election they approach as e no go too speak well about yeye APC, as for our undergraduates here, how the strike take they affect you, abi most of una don put hand into other businesses, so tey una no even care about ASUU wahala again.

What if crypto trading because illegal? I see say the only reason we dey carry shoulder up na because government never ban crypto trading for the country and before you think say dem no fit do am remember wetin happen to twitter. Websites are centralized as such dey fit ban access to them for the country although VPN go clear road but e no go easy as e been dey before. And if them ban the trading then the officer go get right to dey distrub people.

E no get anyhow you go tell me say crypto trading no dey affect dollars price as well. I understand say the economy no good and na the major reason we Naira dey crash but we get other smaller factors and one of them na the unregulated crypto trading wey dey go on for the country.

For these case, na govt and the cbn been cause this wahala and then looking for someone to shift the blame to. first na aboki fx emefiele blame, then he blame bereau de change shops and now they are blaming crypto trading. For the past 3 years now, buhari govt and emefiele through banks have been hoarding usdt for naija. knowing fully well seh we get international students weh go need the dollars, and well as several imports weh the country de, instead dem close border weh de help country export naira well, ban imports, hoard usdt, dem con de find who weak weh dem fit blame. the country mata tire me aswear

VPN are not allowed on most of the centralized exchanges, not every country are allowed to trade on binnace, there are too many of them and that's why VPN is not allowed on all exchanges, if the government ban trading on centralized exchanges it would have a huge impart for those who don't know how to use use decentralized exchanges

It has nothing to do with the Naira crashing it's poor government, The US trade twice of what Nigerians trade on a regular basis yet their dollar keeps appreciating, the best way to improve the Naira is to cut down much importation and do more of exportation.

Na d real matter b dat shah. E shock you wth wayin happn wth twitter nd d truth be say, nothing persn ft do Dan 2 use VPN. D result as at den be say, most affiliate marketers nd people way be say, na Twitter dem dey use chop frm small small promotions nd evn trade for followers, e bin slow down tins too.
Dis go be d same result way go happn if dem ban crypto trading. Las las, na banks we dey still use 4ward money, on escrow site nd d rate ft make person put eye or ask question.
Some pple go out trade via d stress to dey use vpn nd u still get govment forces dem way dere eye dey shook to deal wth. Getting crypto app cef go be crime nd dat na real matters.

E nor go easy like that to ban crypto trading for we naija. Sake of say even some kind top companies wey some of we government officials dey run for background don enter crypto trading (insider informate). To digress a little, even sef we go wake one day hear say dem don legalize Igbo sef. Of course for medical and recreational purposes because dem don see say na very lucrative market. Ok back to the main gist. E been dey easy for dem to ban twitter because say dem nor dey benefit from am and na SM. No vested interest. But you see crypto trading, lie-lie  baning am na future impossible tense be dat  Grin.

This matter of the naira lossing weight for the market no really get better attachment with on how people the trade, the real coco nah we government wey don't totally  fail to do the right thing in the right way.

Just imagine how many of them and their children and relatives the run go sch abroad, what about the issue of every big n small man only wanting to buy only things wey be foreign made, imagine how much we government don borrow borrow up and down, inside all this borrow borrow conditions dey ontop am wey no dey favourable to the naira which we know but still becos of their selfish interest them go still go on borrowing.

As it stands like dis naija no follow for exporting countries except crude oil wey no be we sef the refine am despite how many refineries we gather get for the country. Oya just remember ajeokuta steel company  wey been the produce steel irons of any kinds how many years now it dey shutdown. That company alone go produce all the irons wey Nigeria need to take do anything weda na rail tracks, car panels and trucks but rather we dey import iron steel from China with the same  money with borrow from China. No be juju be that? So tell me how the dollar and other currencies no go continue to appreciate against the naira.

Oya make I burst ur brain! Do you know that in the 70s and 80s from Lagos international airport to New York was  #17,430 but today just from Port Harcourt airport to Lagos even #50,000 never reach for flight. Just imagine , so why people no go try hustle through the available loophole for other higher currency so Dem fit meet up the hike in prices of domestic goods and services?

This matter na only God fit give us the kind leader we dey look out for, cos everybody don really tire for this our FATHER LAND, but it is well shaa!
