The partnership between George Dockrell and Curtis Campher has rescued Ireland. From a position of 70/5, these two have taken Ireland to 179/5 after 40 overs. Scotland started brilliantly when Brandon McMullen reduced them to 17/3. Mark Watt picked up the 4th wicket to reduce them to 33/4. But the 6th wicket partnership is now worth 109 runs. What surprised me was the fact that the Scottish captain didn't gave another spell to his best bowler (Brandon McMullen) and now it will be impossible for him to complete his complete quota of 10 overs.

Ireland is under a lot of pressure because many wickets have already fallen while batting. Ireland are performing very badly as Scotland's bowling is showing great performance which is why two wickets have been bowled out for 0 runs and wicket two is the best in batting. And won't score too many runs which is why I think Scotland will have no trouble winning. Because five wickets fell before 100 runs were completed. And so far Brandon McMullan has taken three wickets in four overs and conceded just six runs, contributing to Scotland's best bowling performance today.

Ireland failed to start the innings well. They lost 4 experienced top-order batsmen for just 33 runs. Even then, the Ireland team has managed to make an excellent comeback. Campher and Dockrell batted well. At the end of 47 overs, Ireland collected 250 runs with the loss of 6 wickets. First, the way they were batting, it was tough for them to collect 150 runs. Ireland set a huge target of 287 runs. After losing 3 wickets for 17 runs and the fourth wicket for 33 runs, no one would have imagined that Ireland would be able to collect 286 runs. The pairing of Campher and Dockrell was very useful. Campher was dismissed with 120 runs and Dockrell with 69 runs. And after giving a target of 287, Scotland's chances of victory are slim. Because Scotland's team is not very experienced. Ireland's bowlers are considerably better than Scotland's. And in today's match, Ireland will probably pick up an easy win at the expense of Scotland.

In the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers, Zimbabwe Group A is in good form, they have played two matches and won two matches. But, Scotland was struggling with a score of 152/7 while chasing a target of 287 runs, but very fortunately they managed to turn things around them. The two finalists of the World Cup Qualifier 2023 held in Harare, Zimbabwe will participate in the ICC Men's World Cup 2023. However, among the Group-B (Sri Lanka, Oman, Scotland, Ireland, United Arab Emirates) teams, only Sri Lanka has a high chance of making it to the finals. On the other hand, among the Group-A (Zimbabwe, West Indies, Nepal, Netherlands, United States) teams, there is a possibility of two teams between Zimbabwe and West Indies, but in the event that a team passes the Group-A final, one of the teams from Zimbabwe or West Indies will participate. In this case, Zimbabwe will be more likely to pass the finals if they get the advantage in their venue..

Given the current trend, both West Indies and Zimbabwe are likely to qualify for the Super-6 stage. The only question is regarding the third team from Group A. All the other teams look very weak in that Group - Nepal, United States and Netherlands. The last one ceased to be competent as a result of the absence of their regular players, while the first one has been a big disappointment so far. Group B is  not that better either. Sri Lanka is dominating that group, while Ireland has been a big disappointment. Oman and UAE are somewhat competent, thanks to the mercenary players.

I was more optimistic about Nepal from Group A. Because the performance of this team was amazing. But they are not able to perform prominently in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. They look very weak from their first match especially in the bowling action that is not appreciable. I have no complaints about their batting. Because they were able to give a target of 315 runs against Zimbabwe in the first match. Maybe they could have controlled that match if they could have bowled a bit better in that match. On the other hand in Group-B i expected good performance from Ireland team but they didn't do that.

In Nepal's first match against Zimbabwe they set a big target and I was hopeful that Nepal might win that match but in the end Nepal lost by a huge margin of 8 wickets. In the first World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, Nepal's bowlers bowled as well as they batted well. From Group A, Zimbabwe's next round is almost certain, they have two more matches left and if they can win one of the two matches, they will go to the next round as group champions. 

In Group B I considered Sri Lanka and Ireland as favorites but Ireland failed to give their best. But with Oman performing better than expected in the World Cup qualifiers, there is no doubt that Oman and Sri Lanka will advance to the next round.

This was certainly one of the best matches I have recently seen. When Scotland lost seven wickets, I was almost sure that they are not going to be able to win. But I have to say they lost the first seven wickets because they actually played a little reckless cricket.

And after that Ireland probably started taking things a little easier because they probably thought there was no way Scotland was going to be able to win. Sadly Scotland proved them wrong. I also have to say that Scotland was really lucky to win this match. Because even in the last ball anything could have happened. A ball which was such wide was eventually an inside edge, which also went for four in the end.

It is true that Ireland are a step ahead of Scotland in terms of strength in the odi format, but still I think Scotland had the ability to win against Ireland.
And that's probably why I don't feel so terrible about Ireland's loss. To say, the Ireland team has become an unlucky team at the moment as they have failed to win even one of their last five matches. But whatever I say, today's match was full of excitement, the last moments were almost suffocating.
Michael Leask today felt like he was playing a T20 match not ODI match. He stayed away from the century for a while with 91 runs off just 61 balls. Today's consistency of runrate ratio of Scotland was better than that of Ireland as we can see in the graph below. And I think that's why won this match.

One of the best matches i have seen played by associate teams, Ireland lost 4 wickets before reaching 50 runs and lost half the side once they reached 70 and from that situation to reach 286 was an incredible comeback. Scotland started well but then lost their middle order and was struggling at one point and the betting odds were over 13 when they lost their 7th wicket needing 137 more runs to win and then to resurrect and win the match is incredible.

You are right, Ireland cricket team losing two matches is not a good sign. The Ireland cricket team is yet to win the battle to qualify for the ICC World Cup. However, Ireland cricket team could have done a little better in this match. Then this match would have been possible for Island to win. However, Ireland cricket team could have done a little better in this match. Then this match would have been possible for Island to win. At least in terms of quality there is hardly any difference between Ireland and Scotland. But in terms of ICC fund allocation, there is a huge gap. Ireland is set to receive around $18 million per year from 2024 onwards, while Scotland will be receiving around 5% of that amount. Anyway, congratulations to Scotland. They played really well yesterday and snatched a win from the jaws of defeat. All credit to Michael Leask and Mark Watt. The partnership between these two was the turning point in the match. Irish bowlers need a lot of introspection now.

Ireland were 82 for 5 after batting 21 overs and it was almost certain that they would lose the match badly. But Ireland bounced back well from that situation. From 82 runs, by a good partnership between Curtis Campher and Dockrell Ireland reach 204 runs where they did not lose any wickets which enabled the team to post a big score. Curtis Campher and Dockrell were able to lead the team well but the rest of the players failed. If a few more runs could have been added, Ireland could have won the match. We saw Scotland lose their 9 wickets while chasing Ireland's 288 to win the match by just 1 wicket.

Nepal was expected to win the first match but unfortunately Nepal lost to Zimbabwe. But Nepal got a comfortable win against USA in their second qualifying match. In their third match against West Indies, Nepal decided to field first after winning the toss. Today, these two teams will compete for survival in the next round of World Cup qualifiers. To go to the next round, Nepal has no option to win this match today but today's match against West Indies will not be easy for Nepal at all. Because West Indies are the top team in cricket but unfortunately they did not perform well in Super League due to which they have to play qualifiers. West Indies will undoubtedly be ahead in today's match.

Excellent start by Nepal so far. Lalit Rajbanshi had a very tight first over, and then Karan KC took the wicket of Kyle Mayers in the second over (thanks to an excellent catch by Kushal Bhurtel). West Indies are at 2/1 after 2 overs against Nepal. No one would have imagined that. For the other match, USA is yet to open their scoring against the Netherlands. They are 0/1 after 1.3 overs, with Logan van Beek bowling a maiden in the first over and then Ryan Klein taking the wicket of Sushant Modani in the second over. USA has lost both the matches they played till now.
