So how about you, do you really expect that the current line up of Gilas will bag a gold in the FIBA world cup?

If we are being realistic, no one will ever think that Philippines will bag the gold at FIBA World cup. We are miles away from the strong countries in basketball. It is our passion but the skill is still lacking. We do not have a good program that could develop players from the grass root.

I do not expect much but I hope they at least give a good fight in the group stage. Maybe get a win to move to the next level. That would be the best that could happen. I just do not want to see our country lose very poorly against their opponent in the group stage. At least make it as exciting as the games in the 2014 world cup. We did not win a game in that World cup but at least the world got a glimpse of our brand of basketball and how exciting it is.

That's a realistic assessment, as it can be challenging to reach the same level as the top teams in certain sports leagues. Take, for example, the PBA, which is one of the oldest basketball leagues in Asia. Despite its history and significance, it may not currently be on par with other popular leagues like the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) or the B League in Japan, so it's really hard to expect that gold.

Let them try everything that they've got and feel the pressure in each game that they'll going to challenge top contender from their bracket, like both of you I'm also seen that way, with the current programs and current setup the winning chance is too small, whatever happens to that international screen pinoy fans will always be supportive whoever players and coaches are behind the squad.

Though criticism will also be part of their journey, but nothing to brag but to continue trying and compete with all the best that they can.

I just bet on NBA, WNBA, or esports events while waiting for the regular season in PBA.

There are plenty of alternatives, bro. Personally, I don't have any other sports that I would like to bet on right now besides the NBA. However, it looks like the Eastern Conference Finals will be over tomorrow, so I'll have to wait for over a week before I can start betting again.

Game 1 for NBA Finals will be this June 1, 2023

But if you want to take some bets, no one's gonna stop you and you can just do it over and over again until the season comes back. It's still gonna take a lot of time and months until we see the regular ones. So out of boredom and as long as you're wanting to bet for some PBA games, you're good but you expect the unexpected with these games and as per results of it.

Same with regular season shit can still happen but in this kind of tour games maybe if you have some spare and you are okay taking the big risk, taking the underdog may give you some decent benefits. Though like what you have said out of boredom or if you feel lucky and you want to take that chance, betting on this kind of some sort of exhibition match might do for you.

Gambling always attaches with both luck and risk. It's up to you if you are willing to take your shots.
Speaking of tour games, the Ginebra won't be participating for some specific players certainly with Scottie, Japeth, and their coach Tim Cone. And that is because of their preparation for the FIBA world cup. It's a good move made by Ginebra's management.

Nothing else but more on the side of a gambler's instinct when picking which team to bet with or whatever kind of bets you'll going to pick here.
But if you want to take some bets, no one's gonna stop you and you can just do it over and over again until the season comes back. I would not do this, a bit too risky. There are tons of sports to bet on so I do not think it is boredom. But to each his own.

I just bet on NBA, WNBA, or esports events while waiting for the regular season in PBA.
Yeah, whatever you think is gonna make you have a good outcome bet for it. But for now, with these tour games, I'm a bit off with them.

Yes you are right that mate whoever the contender have a chance to play in international game then all the pinoy fans will support even though there a time that the lineup are weaker than they thought then they can not do anything. Because its the decision of the facilatator of the game and all we can do is that wait and see how they play in that current lineup but for now the lineup of the Philippine are not just bad and for sure they can make a noise if they are in the court.

Board chairman Ricky Vargas and commissioner Willie Marcial are set to preside over the three-day meeting at the Warwick Hotel in France

While the PBA is currently holding their PBA On-Tour Series (or others called it as Pre-season Match), the PBA Board is busy planning some of the agendas that we might expect in this year's PBA season. As I previously mentioned and posted before, PBA might probably commence in October after Gilas PH settles scores at the FIBA World Cup and ASIAN Games.

Some of the agendas that will be discussed are:

1) The possible return of Bay Area Dragons

- I like the idea of having foreign teams again in the PBA as that really brings much tougher competition in the league while giving chances to those low to mid-tier teams the good experience of dealing with a foreign team. I hope, if not conflict with the Dragon's schedule, they can get a chance to participate again in PBA.

2) The home and away participation in the East Asia Super League (EASL)

- In a simple explanation, this means EASL games will be held in venues in all participating countries. Yes, teams have the chance to play with the support from the home crowd and on the other hand, also playing against an away crowd.

3) Format of the season's two conferences

- Because of the PBA's adjustment to the World Basketball Events this year for Gilas, only 2 conferences can be pushed this Season 48, All-Filipino Cup, and still undecided for the import conference. I think it was Commissioners Cup when Bay Area Dragons played at the PBA therefore, maybe they can choose that conference again so the same height restrictions for imports will be applied to all teams if ever they will join again.

Please share your views about these, guys. Smiley

I like the idea of the return to the PBA of the Dragons as a guest team or may they add some more teams to serve as guests because last time around, there are a lot of fans watching the game as they saw new faces and new talent live on the floor which is money for the PBA and the most important part is that PBA players will be banging with imports which in return could hone their skills to another level which is beneficial to the PBA players when they are playing in an international competition like FIBA.

Have not seen the game between SMB and NorthPort Phoenix in their pre-season game but saw the scores and found it interesting that TR7 was playing and scored 20+ points, would this be the start of his comeback bid in the PBA or still he will be riding the bench come opening season?

This is great news for basketball fans. I'm sure they are still considered the favorites when they play because they are a really talented team with great 3-point shooters and length. Since it's their second time in the PBA, I believe they have made the necessary adjustments and will be ready to seek revenge.

There's a high probability that he will play as long as he is in good health. SMB needs his minutes on the court because he can provide valuable energy to the team. If they choose not to utilize him, it may be more beneficial to consider trading him.

There is no doubt that SMB will utilize him. While Romeo may not be in his prime, his experience and skills still make him deserving of earning minutes for the team. Too much experimentation by the coach has had its consequences, as we have witnessed. I believe it would be beneficial for SMB to revert to their old style, where Fajardo is the main focal point, and allocate more minutes to the veterans who have proven to be clutch during big games, including Romeo, of course.

They really have to allow the Bay Area Dragons to come back. This is also expanding the viewership of PBA and there's more hype if there's a guest team. AFAIK, there was even news before that the Dragons were already willing to allocate a lot of years of budget just to participate in PBA and IIRC which was 5-10 years of budget, CMIIW.

I like this when they're adjusting the schedule of PBA in order to give way to the FIBA world cup and other international basketball leagues that will require some of the players from the teams participating the league.

I like this when they're adjusting the schedule of PBA in order to give way to the FIBA world cup and other international basketball leagues that will require some of the players from the teams participating the league.

This is essential because if they fail to do so, the league will face criticism. In the FIBA World Cup, it is crucial to bring our best players in order to compete at a high level. It would not be appropriate to send college players who are not yet in the professional league. Therefore, it is obligatory for the PBA to allow their players to represent the country, as we are competing on an international stage.

Is it the PBA that's going to shoulder this participation on EASL or it is the SBP/MVP group with the help of PSC? I don't know how things goes there but if this is what's going to happen, this will require a lot of budget for them since games will played on each participating countries.

We should not worry about the expenses because most likely the teams that will participate are own by Pangilinan and Cojuangco, and we know they are 2 of the richest men in the Philippines.

I was in the impression that Romeo will leave the team and will explore playing outside the country, but upon checking the current tour lineup I saw his name meaning to say that there's no trade or there's no change on his career for now, and with how I read the new coach, he's not giving any sign to bring that old plays that gives them the successful run during coach Leo's era.

Like you, I believe that if he will try that back and let the veterans to run the play, they are more comfortable rotating with that play.

Looking to see adjustments and hopefully TR7 will be back on the rotation, I missed those days when he will create space and
pass the ball either with Fajardo or CStan when he still playing for them.

Looking to see adjustments and hopefully TR7 will be back on the rotation, I missed those days when he will create space and
pass the ball either with Fajardo or CStan when he still playing for them.

Romeo is still considered a fragile player, but the positive aspect is that he has already won a championship with SMB and was even awarded the Finals MVP. However, if we look at his current situation, it seems that SMB is not utilizing him effectively. In my opinion, it would have been a good decision if he had accepted the offer from a B League team, allowing him to play under a decent contract. There were rumors in the past that he declined the offer out of loyalty to SMB.

They've already faced criticism before when they didn't allow some of their players to play for the national team. This is what the basketball nation should be. Giving the adjustment to the teams and players that will contribute to the national team for these important events which is the world cup. I thought that this won't happen based on the past and thought that they've been too selfish and didn't care at all for tournaments like this.

Yeah, I remember MVP that likes these sponsorships if it's with the Philippine Basketball especially if it his company's team that will represent the country on EASL.

Here we go again with the EASL thing. I hope they won't forget their performance the last time they played. I'm sure the sponsors are not happy about spending a lot of money to bring them to the venue country and witnessing them being dominated by the opposing teams. It cannot happen again, because if we still can't compete, it will expose how obsolete our brand of basketball is.

All Fans hoping that our team can compete another country with a good standing and scoring but For me they will face a struggle as we all know that their opponents are too strong and have the high advantages. While our representative is small but terrible they can dominate their opponent for sure even in a small gap cause I know that they can not make a huge gap once they will face a very strong team.

Yeah, I also heard that both him and Abueva decline the offer before to play with their respective teams inside PBA, we don't know what's the real score but I'm pretty sure he can still play and he's still young if summing the potential he's still at his prime but injuries are hurting him and all those outside controversy, but just like what I've said hopefully we will be able to see him playing healthy again and start re-establishing his minutes under the current coach.

We are competing before last year if I remember it right, but adjustments from those competing teams are increasing while for the PBA representatives there's no adjustment that much, same team and almost same squad, but yeah looking to see that teams from PBA will come up and be competitive not just simply representing the country but also trying to win the title or even showing the quality of how Pinoy ballers are we in international competitions,

As if remember the league is tied or recognize by FIBA, winning a title will be a big recognition for PBA and also for our country!

They'll be fine in the FIBA world cup because even if we lose, it will still be beneficial to us as we gain a 'learning experience,' a famous line from Gilas Coach, as we all know. Gilas is enjoyable to watch now, especially with Brownlee as the naturalized player. He plays with great intensity, and I can see that he has the Filipino spirit within him, never willing to give up.

About brownlee it look like he is very good and have a spirit of Filipino he can make a noise in the court and also by the help of our local players the team makes more stronger and stronger. Also you are right about that even we can not win against to those strong countries out there then we can still have the benefits because we can learn through our losses and once we loss then for sure coaches staff and the players will learn and by the next season they will apply what they've learn.

He certainly feels like a Filipino player because he has been present in most PBA seasons. I'm not sure if he will be able to play in the ALL FILIPINO Cup now that he is a naturalized player, but for the sake of fairness, I don't think the league should allow it. Hehe... Anyway, for this FIBA World Cup, we don't have a legitimate center like we did before with Blatche. So, how are we going to compete well this time?
