``Justin Brownlee wanting his replacement, suggesting that it should be Balkman while he's not yet around. Yes, he was the one suggesting that Ginebra should take Balkman as his replacement.
I mean, sure, they might be friends from their days as teammates, but let's get real for a sec. Is this guy serious? Renaldo Balkman, who I thought was banned from the PBA forever, isn't exactly getting any younger. He's, what, 39 years old now? How's he gonna keep up with these young imports? I get making suggestions, but picking him as a replacement? Nah, I'm not so sure about that. He's not the best choice there since there's a lot of imports there that can contribute more than him and Balkman is already out of his prime so provably he became a liability on the team. For people saying that he still good well yeah we can agree to that knowing how basketball evolve for sure there are young guys and there can give them more better output. They should not think about getting him since maybe this is wrong decision they gonna take and much better if they scout another potential player than can help them on their campaign. Who knows maybe from that they can discover a same like player who can perform just like what Brownlee did.

If that's true I guess JBL voice may have some weight in doing the decision, though like what you said it's more on how the management will select their import, They are always being expected to dominate or I mean one of the top caliber in terms of winning and considering their import will be a management decision. I also seen some post from social media about possibility that they may acquire Blakely, not sure if you are all familiar with the hotshots former import who works with coach Tim before. Though another what if, we will only know who's who once the season starts. I've heard of Blakely before so, there are a lot of names that are being point out on who's going to be the next import while Brownlee is still away. Well, whoever they decide to take while he's away will be definitely a tough decision for them but they need to do it for their own sake. And speaking of the issue from Brownlee, Kevin Alas posted the certificate that he's got from Asian games that proves that the gold medal will never be taken away from them. It's posted by Inquirer Sports Fb page.

At least now there's a certificate; it's like validation that the gold medal truly belongs to the Philippines and its players. Regarding the import for Ginebra, I'd rather go for Blakely than Balkman because Blakely is more consistent and is also a good team player, unlike Balkman. It's just hard to forget what Balkman did in the past when he had a fight with his teammates.

Same with you, I think Blakely can work with how coach Tim play and execute his game plan, he was able to play and win a title with coach Tim wayback their purefoods days, in terms of adjustments with the players I can say as mentioned he's a team player so it won't be hard for him to work along with his teammates. The only thing that I think will prevent him is his age and those injuries that he got not sure if he can still deliver that same skillsets.

Have you guys read the article about this Cebuano point guard who once played for NLEX and all of a sudden disappeared from the radar with no concrete reason why?
It turns out that Mark Tallo was out for drug infraction which i don't know what's the meaning of this. He is out in the PBA for i think 4 years and now that he has inked a two-year deal for Converge, he was suspended by the PBA for that offense (drug infraction) which had happened a long years ago.
Do you think that this makes some sense since the incident happened years ago and the guy is now clean and yet not eligible to play again for that offense?

The deal put on hold due to that situation and maybe PBA has not done with his penalty that's why he's been stop to get back on the league. Maybe this case serves as a big lesson for every player that they should never use drugs while they have a active contract on PBA since for sure that there career will get destroyed the same as Mac Tallo. I guess it only make sense if he's totally out of using drugs and show thay he is a change man. But overall the league and his incoming team would provably can decide if they would give Tallo another chance to play on PBA. Spin has good article with this story https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/mac-tallo-move-to-converge-on-hold-says-source-a2244-20231023

I think that's just the rule they have to follow. According to report this is what happenned. "To the best of my recollection, he tested positive during a random test sometime in 2018 yata," Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao, then the bench boss for the Road Warriors, told me in a telephone interview.
Given how much water had already passed under the bridge, Guiao couldn't specifically recall if the violation was punished with a suspension or not.
A GOOD GUY IN A BAD SPOT Unfortunately, he hung out with the "wrong crowd" and may have indulged in a forbidden pleasure that led to a positive test.
But that's history now. Time always fixes what breaks.
"If there was a ruling, it should be enforced. But Converge should appeal," Guiao said. "If it were up to me, Mac deserves a second chance. Nawala siya sa PBA ng ilang taon, dapat time served na."
It's always hard to disagree with the wisdom of Yeng Guiao. This one's no different. And this too, means he will not be able to play for 6 months, probably he wasn't suspended before that's why it was only served now. Recently signed by the Converge FiberXers to a two-year deal, the six-foot, 187-pound guard won't be allowed to play in the PBA until he serves a six-month suspension, according to multiple sources.
Do you think that this makes some sense since the incident happened years ago and the guy is now clean and yet not eligible to play again for that offense?
It's fair if the suspension is based on the rules of the PBA, if not, it isn't anymore. https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/what-stands-between-mac-tallo-and-pba-career-with-converge-a2244-20231023

So, he tested positive for illegal drugs while he was still actively playing before. I guess it's the right action, but a 6-month suspension is definitely painful, especially considering he was signed recently. But as they say, every action has consequences, and he has to face it. I hope Converge would be able to accept that and still give him a chance to play with the team once the suspension is served.
On another note, the PBA is set to return in less than 10 days! Get yourselves ready for some action. Probably next week, we'll have news about the imports for respective teams.
Are you excited for the PBA's return?

He already signed a contract for a 2-year deal, and I'm sure Converge was well aware of his history regarding drug-related issues since he was off for years before they signed him. With this recent development so close to the season, it might be a tough pill to swallow, but considering he isn't a starter, I'm sure Converge would be okay, and they can still compete this coming season. Yay! I'm excited on the return as it will give more betting actions for us, NBA in the morning while we have PBA in the afternoon and evening.

I'm also guessing that Converge is aware of his past case before they give him that 2-year contract, with this update regarding to him I'm pretty sure that they are okay with it and give him that chance to continue working with them till the suspension being lifted, giving him that chance may allow him to continue his chase of bringing his name up. Though it's PBA and the level of competition might be different from where he played during his past suspension, but he is still young and still have that skills that really can compete with other stars who reached this far.

I've heard a rumor that Ginebra has secured Tony Bishop as their import. Now, Bishop isn't new to the PBA, having played as an import for a different team previously. The big question is, can he bring a championship to the best team in the league? What's your take on Tony Bishop? Do you think he has what it takes to lead Ginebra to a championship? Well in 2022, he played with the Meralco Bolts and his stats are also interesting. Accoding to this article. https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/meralco-import-tony-bishop-not-ready-to-go-home-yet-a2244-20220401A leading Best Import candidate with robust averages of 28.4 points, 13.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game during the eliminations, Bishop has been neutralized by the swarming, menacing Hotshots defense. He seems like a player who could potentially bring a lot to the Ginebra Gin Kings. However, it remains to be seen whether he can deliver under Coach Tim Cone, who values proper ball movement over a ball-hog style, even for imports.

They may be running in the playoff but reaching the finals is a slim possibility especially now that Junemar Fajardo is 100 percent healthy and his added experiences in the FIBA and Asiad stint really boost his morale and confidence. SMB will the champion of this upcoming conference sans Justine Brownlee.

So, I still believe that the coaching job plays a crucial role. Maybe Coach Tim will be the one to bring out the best in Tony Bishop, even more so than he was before. While SMB has a good chance, I think Ginebra has the potential to make it to the Finals again. That would surely be another crowd-pulling attraction.

Here's the player's statisticis https://www.proballers.com/basketball/player/11652/tony-bishopBrownlee is a beast, that is why Ginebra is always on the Final in an import-reinforced conference and I doubt Tony Bishop could fill the big shoes that has been left by Justine Brownlee. There's no doubt that JMF is a beast, but it's evident that SMB hasn't been the same since Coach Austria departed. But let us remember that coach Galent is a fan of Fajardo and his plays revolve on his prized center. Fajardo plus their import are unstoppable for me in this conference. You may have a point that coach Tim will bring out the best of Tony Bishop but as of now Bishop can't bring the best out of his teammates that Justine Brownlee does best. San Miguel Beermen is like having two imports at this time because like i said, Fajardo's confidence is ATH with his experience on banging the big men in the FIBA and Asian games.

I've noticed that Coach Austria seems to be using Fajardo more than Coach Galent. When I compare his performance in the past to the time when Coach Austria was fired, Fajardo seemed more unstoppable and his production was much more noticeable. Of course, this is just my personal observation. It also appears that Coach Galent is leaning more on players like CJ Perez, who may have become the main option now. Health issues may indeed be a significant factor, as Fajardo has struggled with injuries in the past seasons. However, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and see how he performs now that he's healthy and brimming with confidence after becoming a champion in the Asian games. https://basketball.realgm.com/player/June-Mar-Fajardo/Summary/28449

I think they aren't talking about that much... I was browising to see some PBA fresh news, but I see this article related to the converge team, and it's how Coach Ayo felt to see Jeron Teng go.. https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/aldin-ayo-losing-jeron-teng-converge-san-miguel-a793-20231025?ref=feed_1_sectionAldin Ayo on losing Jeron Teng "Of course, it was very difficult," said Ayo, talking for the first time about the stunning move of the FiberXers management to place the 29-year-old Teng unprotected in the free agency market.
Ayo's association with Teng goes a long way back during their days with the La Salle Green Archers where they won a UAAP men's championship together.
They were eventually reunited at Converge after Ayo took over the coaching chores from Jeff Cariaso following a one conference stint after the sale of the Alaska franchise to the FiberXers.
By the end of the season, Teng also emerged as the team's second-leading scorer behind Maverick Ahanmisi.
"He's very familiar with our system," said Ayo of the playing son of retired PBA player Alvin Teng. So that was really painful for Converge as they've lost their two best scorers to another team. I'm curious to see how they'll compete with other teams in the upcoming season. The last time I watched them, they were performing well, but they did face struggles due to their import issues towards the end.

It's been a while since we saw SMB playing with the healthy TR7 and JMF with both productions and with the help of other superstars who can always provide the numbers that they need, without JBL to Brgy. Ginebra, that's a big shoe to fill for the new import.

Ginebra, that's a big shoe to fill for the new import. It's an absolute delight to watch Romeo back on the court. His signature crossover moves never get old, and I'm hopeful that he can still showcase them despite his past injury issues. With this season providing players with ample rest, except those representing our country, we'll see more teams with players in good health, ready to compete. Romeo has a Finals MVP under his belt, and it'll be interesting to see if he can repeat that feat this time, especially under a different coach. Alternatively, CJ is another player to watch, as he competes for minutes, creating a bit of rivalry within the team, so if not Fajardo will win, probably either one of them.

The verdict that we all have been waiting for is coming up next week. Verdict on Justin Brownlee positive test expected to come out by next weekAnd it has also been confirm that Tony Bishop would be the import, however, this next article maybe is quite related on why he is only an "interim import", probably Ginebra are still optimistic that Brownlee would be able to play. Cone confirms Ginebra bringing in Tony Bishop as interim importGinebra head coach Tim Cone confirmed their newest reinforcement on Friday evening in an interview with CNN Philippines, saying the former Meralco import will play for the Gin Kings while they await the fate of Justin Brownlee over his flunked drug test at the last Asian Games.
