80-78, Meralco finally end their 53 years of championship drought as Newsome made a game winning shot with 3 seconds left in the clock.
Before that, it was JMF who made a 3 point tying should, that could have been awesome if the game went into overtime but it will still not gonna beat the over 185 since that's only 156 after the 4th quarter, considering that will happen.

Meralco had really taken out the 3 point shooting of SMB as they only limited them at 4-27 shooting, their worst probably in the season and in the Finals.

Great job by Meralco coaching staff as well, although SMB again mount a good come back, but Meralco design a play that had ended the series.

Imagine for how many long years, they finally won a championship, and that in an all Filipino cup against a powerhouse team. Haha, for the win with no rotational brownout. And you know what? MVP is just too generous I guess. After the announcement of Meralco that we'll get rates increase for our electricity, we get discount this time. But I wonder if this is just a delayed increase and after this month, rates will be up.

It was before way back 80's or 90's but with pinoy talents better not to bring it back it will just limit pinoy stars time playing, for sure if that happened those two imports will consume most of the time and locals will be a 3-man rotations, I think it's better to bring that same concept and just allow the hieght limit just like how it was forecast before, who knows if they allow Howard to play maybe just assuming on my personal opinion, maybe fans will be delighted and will bring some to earn interest back, let see if how PBA managements will promote and will announce their plans next season., for the meantime let us allow Meralco to celebrate this sweet win.

Totally agree, bringing two imports per team will be disastrous to the PBA. They have experimented that "two import" scheme before and i do think that they saw some disadvantages on that one so they modify to only one import. Maybe implementing a no height limit is quite entertaining IMO as more talented import from the NBA might be interested in bringing their skills to the PBA like Dwight Howard who is very much interested on playing in the PBA and he alone can bring in the crowds to the Araneta Coliseum.

The fans thoughts about it is divided. While many don't think it's a good idea because the playing of one local player should go to the other import. Well, it's just a rumor and probably in plans now because there might be another guest team on the talks. Those who are risk takers for sure they follow the trend and manage to make money during the series but for those fans who loves supporting the heavy favorites, I guess the bookies suck their money, as for the entire series it was SMB who got the side for the favorite and those who pick Meralco's handicap manage to win.

Just getting curious with kabayang bisdak reply I also check it online and according to that same post you shared it is the first one for Meralco to win a PBA title, and for me, winning it during the All-filipino cup is a sweetest one, that means a lot since that there are few teams who are exchanging the title.

And now that they already have one, they just need to add good import to reinforce them, they've got the talents and the chemistries, just need to keep that same squad and keep improving, they might win more if they continue playing like this, a squad who lean with each other on both thier offense and defense.

That's a good news for our Local coaches, and that could be a great exposure for them.
We have a world class coaches as well, and no wonder if they are able to get a job in NBA teams considering their experiences as well. I just hope that they will come back here and use their experience to help the local teams be better not just in PBA but also in international league.
